What a gem! Beautiful little spot tucked away close to the waterfront. Parking is a bit tricky but what isnt downtown? Beautiful ambience and jazz music playing overhead. Cozy tables set with black linens and flowers on every table. The food was delicious and tasty. The owner greeted us and checked on us often. The staff was amazing. Saw this place featured on “Texas Bucket List” on YT.

I finally got to try it and it was a little disappointing, food was not what I was expecting when it came to flavor and believe I have had soul/ comfort food in many different places and this didn't hit the spot. The macaroni was dry and lacked cheese, but veggies were good, I would give it to them with the corn bread it was delicious. The pork chop locked flavor and was warm, not hot when it came out, but was cooked perfectly. The waitress was not attentive, but the other staff was. Menu is limited, and so is parking.

Great place to visit and eat. I saw this place on the Texas Bucket list and decided to stop in while in Corpus. Met Joe the owner and the staff, everyone was great. I had the fried chicken and my friend had the pork chop. Everything was great, I had to refrain from licking my fingers in public. Got very full from the meal, they serve good size portions. I had fried chicken, collard greens and mash potatoes and gravy with cornbread. I didn't think about it until I ate it, but I would have loved to smother my cornbread with butter on the top. Needless to say, we were stuffed and ready for a nap after eating. Great food, great atmosphere, great staff, great place to visit. I will see you folks again on my next trip south!!

Great soul food in a friendly atmosphere. The menu is limited to a few choices each day but you'll find something you like.

Their new name is " Pure Kountry Kitchen." 213 S Chaparral St Corpus Christi Texas. Open from 11:00-2:00P.M I tell you what " PKK is doing some cooking, I go often ( when I can ), but it feels often, lol. I will give my ONE / SINGULAIR negative. As of late, the greens have been a bit salty and a tad to much vinegar. Ok, so, Oh my Lord, they are cooking up those candy yams proper!!!!! The fried chicken has been on crispy krunch / flavor point, I do not prefer chicken breast, yet it was still moist, so I ate it, lol. Fried fish, yup, it had it going on. I did the mashed potatoes just because and I am happy I did so. Don't skip that lemonade yall. They are doing a BANG UP JOB on the food, just the single misstep on the greens. Yup, get on down there. It's a smaller place, and more and more people are learning about it, so there could be a line folks.

Fried chicken was phenomenal. Meat loaf was moist, seasoned well, big portions. Sweet tea hits. Can't wait to come back and try more!

Delicious authentic soul food. I hadn't been here in years. Our supervisor took us here for a Christmas luncheon. So, glad we came. It's under new management, but the name and quality of food remains the same. Husband and wife owners came over to introduce themselves and stated they hope to move in the near future where they can keep the same hours as other restaurants, right now they have to adhere to the office building hours. They are located in the basement of the Wells Fargo building.

All I can say is: “This is SOUL FOOD!” The owners are friendly and the kitchen staff are amazing. The flavors make you feel like home and they are worth the trip! When you come to Corpus Christi, get there in time for lunch and know that a hot and wholesome meal is about to come your way! You will NOT be sorry!
