Pita Gourmet holds a special place in my heart. The interior decor and furniture may seem simple, but don't let that fool you into thinking the food is the same (this just lets you know they're more focused on the food and their loyal customers). This gem appeared in my hometown many years ago and stood out among all the pizza shops, delis, bars, and fast food chains, as a healthier option with the potential to introduce its customers to a vibrant new culture of food. With a broad, but simple menu of appetizers, platters, wraps, sides, and desserts, this family-run business churns out what might be the very best food in the City of Cortland. If you're ever coming through, make sure to stop and indulge. Even after leaving Cortland and moving to New York City, I haven't found a Lebanese restaurant more humble or a Middle Eastern restaurant that makes food half as good. The best way to dine here is with a big group of friends. Start off with a large mazza combo and make sure to get hummus, baba gannush, and tabouleh. If you desire, the falafels are good to swap out for one of those too. As an entree, any of the kebabs over rice are amazing, but the vegetarian platter with falafels is also a definite win. Make sure to fill up on the most amazing baklava you've ever had anywhere and take a cup of rice pudding home. The wraps (literally all of them are amazing), but are literally the best as in-the-go food for lunch. Follow the restaurant on Facebook or Instagram to keep up-to-date with what specials they have, as curry chicken Wednesday's and fish Friday's are super popular and the food is delicious (I know, not a surprise after what I just told you). Please, if you pass through anywhere near Cortland, stop in, because you'll not have Lebanese food this good outside the Middle East.

I moved in Cortland from buffalo and we have several Pita Gourmets.. unfortunately the Pita Gourmet here was horrible!! I ordere a chicken gyro and the chicken was sliced like lunch meat, I had tons of lettuce.. I won’t be going back no time soon .

I LOVE the fabulous 5. My first taste of baba ganoush was here and I’m hooked! And the hummus is the best I’ve ever had. Both dishes are so creamy! The tabouleh is outstanding! Will be coming back again!

My go-to on most visits are tabbouleh, hummus and lentil soup. However...everything I've had here is good!

So glad we stopped in while spending the weekend in Cortland. The food was great and had a great chat with the owner whom is practically distant family. Hope to meet again my friend and to do some hunting and shooting

The best restaurant in Cortland, without a doubt. Not only is the food the tastiest in town but the staff makes you feel like a member of the family. Our "go to" place whenever we think about going out for food. If you haven't been, you need to go. If you've been, you know exactly what I mean.

Best food in town. Always fresh, never disappointed. Fish an pita on Fridays is the best lunch around.

Excellent hummus and baba ganoush, by far the best in the area. Better than anything in Ithaca, also ran by a very nice family. We will definitely be back!

Decent place with authentic Mediterranean food cooked to order. I had the spicy chicken beast and asked for it hot, it was very good but not as hot as I would have liked. The beef kebab was cooked with onion and was decent but I wouldn't order it again as the beef was pretty hard to chew through. The greek salad was great, fresh feta cheese, tomatoes and olives with a pit still inside. Best thing I had was the baklava, and I think this was probably the best baklava I've ever had! Would highly recommend it to any fan of baklava, it was definitely made in house and the Crispy crunchy filo dough was perfect and the touch of honey was not overwhelming at all, mildly sweet I'd call it. Would definitely go back, especially for the baklava.

I've had good experiences with everything here, save for the gyro. If you're going for that there are better options in town. Everything else, the hummus, kebabs, baklava, were all excellent and fairly priced. I would go again.

Great Greek menu. Preparation and service delightful. Delicious food with minimal frills. Great prices. Make sure to patronize this restaurant as the street and section of town get torn apart.

This restaurant makes the tastiest, authentic Middle Eastern food. Charbel and his wife Hanna take great care to prepare their dishes with the freshest ingredients, using recipes handed down to them from parents. We cannot give a higher endorsement for the food and service. Quaint atmosphere.

The reviews don’t lie: this is easily one of the best places to eat in town, especially as a vegetarian/vegan. The food always tastes fresh and high-quality, with generous portions for a fair price. The staff is friendly, and the restaurant is clean with a warm atmosphere. I love the Fabulous 5, which offers a tasty (and healthy!) variety of flavors and textures for your pita bread. Highly recommended!

I took my brother in law here for lunch. He grew up in France and would frequent the many Lebanese restaurants there. The food took him back to his youth and was as good as any he had in Paris Pita Gourmet is an unassuming gem.

My wife and I were passing through Cortland, NY looking for a good restaurant with vegan, gluten free menu options. We had dinner at Pita Gourmet and were very happy with the food quality, quantity, presentation and service. The friendly and knowledgeable waitress helped us make a great selection of vegan and gluten free options that we enjoyed for dinner and we had enough for next day's lunch. We did not try non vegan foods, but I have no reason to believe that it would not be as delicious as the vegan ones. I highly recommend Pita Gourmet!

Best restaurant in Cortland! Absolutely amazing staff who are kind, knowledgeable, and fast. The menu has something for everyone to enjoy, and all the food options are absolutely delicious. I make sure I eat here every time I'm in town, and I'm never disappointed. The grape leaves are my favorite, and you can't pass up the baba ganoush!

Best food in the area - we live 4 hours away and my wife makes sure we get it every chance we can. Salads are phenomenal, only to be out done by their gyros. Baklava and grape leaves are amazing as well.

Ordered their "Fabulous Five" (large) and extra pita bread. It was actually refreshing when I got there (early) and they told me it would be 2-3 minutes because the falafel was still cooking. While the dishes were all apps, it was 3 meals for myself, and easily would have nicely fed 2-3 people for dinner or large appetizers. They also have small orders and another, where you choose 3 of the five, for much less. The people were so friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend and I look forward to trying more of their menu.

Wonderful friendly family-owned restaurant with delicious options to make both my meat loving husband happy (bacon cheeseburger wrap) and me who prefers vegetarian options. The labneh leads to cravings. ❤️
