I love the atmosphere of this place. I've seen many musical performances here and they were all good. Loved poetry night. They have a good selection of local craft beers on tap. The food is amazing. I had their Carrot Coconut Curry soup......it was hands down the best soup I have tasted in my life! The garlic fries are delicious. They have vegetarian/vegan food options as well. A fun place to be.
My wife and I love this place. By morning their space offers an amazing breakfast selection by way of the Backstage Bakery which serves in the Axe & Fiddle. By night it's a warm and cozy place to chill with a local brew, enjoy really tasty food, and meet laid back and interesting locals.
I've spent a lot of time off and on at the Axe and Fiddle throughout the years it has been open. But not a regular. The music is always good whatever style happens to be playing. As for the food it has continually gotten better. As well as the dishes offered. The service has mostly been adequate. I had not been for a while. We had dinner there this evening. The service was amazing!! Menu has some things I can't wait to to go back to try. And the quality of the food was exactly what I hope for when eating out, but rarely get at other places. And of course from very first day the beer selection has always been top notch!
While caught up in the traffic jam on I-5 last night, we luckily were able to exit in Cottage Grove and visit the Axe and Fiddle. Our bartender/server Jennifer gave quality service and my meal of the flank steak and penne macaroni and cheese was an unexpected delight! Thank you so much! We WILL be back!!

Our 2 boys took us to the axe and fiddle on Thursday night to hear the piano player Marco. Since we don't do night life much anymore we were pleasantly surprised. We couldn't have had a better evening. We will be coming back for another visit before we leave town. This place will not disappoint.
Brilliant venue with all one could want in a local--the bookstore within their doors and the bakery in the back make it a heavenly place to eat, shop, drink, and be with friends.
I make a point of swinging by on Friday and Saturday to see what Ben whipped up for dinner specials. Specials he creates are well thought out complex and tasty. Since the entire staff from front to back are upbeat and fun, there isn’t a day you can go wrong. I like manic Monday with Kara. Wing Wednesday is my favorite snack day. Bread Club on Thursday’s is great to see and stock up on local produce/eggs and chicken; also a good time to run into and meet new and old friends in the Grove. Oh yeah, I almost forgot* What kind of music do you like? Dancing with myself or with friends is commonly encouraged! I don’t need to give the Axe stars; there already Stars.
Loooooove this place! My bf and I travel between Portland and California often, and make a point to stop here every trip! The food is always delicious, they have great specials and a decent beverage selection. It's saved on my maps!

New to CG & First timers at Axe & Fiddle-
I had Veggie tacos 2 for $5 on Tuesday great depth of flavor, nice spicy roasted tomato salsa was amazing and also tried the pretzel with cheese sauce which also was to die for(cheese sauce separated a bit, but still good) Hubby had pork tacos and garden salad which he really enjoyed as well... To top it off we had a few beers, sat outside, and listened to the live band playing inside..perfect night! Looking forward to going back soon!
Its the best drink hole in c.g. n the pubfare rocks my proverbial socks off. Also, community n cultural stuff.
Wicked pork tacos, pretzles, salmon chowder, wings and Mac and cheese. A go to for families. We went on taco Tuesday with open mic, our kiddos loved it. Great service, amazing food and ambiance. It was packed by 630!
The food and service were superb! Our waiter, Ricky, was working his butt off. He was super friendly and nice and had a great sense of humor. The food was outrageously good! It tasted fresh and flavorful. I had The Bear Burger with salad, husband had the Reuben and fries. The homemade ketchup should be bottled and sold. We can't wait to come back and try out other things on their menu!
The salmon clam chowder is a must try. Great place for music. I always enjoy listening/performing
Wonderful atmosphere. A touch of class with an easy going staff.
In the small, country town of Cottage Grove it can be hard to find great food after 8pm - thankfully The Axe & Fiddle is open late!
The food is outstanding and is elevated in a way that makes it far more than just "bar food ". From their housemade Ketchup to their smoked salmon & clam chowder, this place knows great food!
The bar features a rotating, seasonal selection of local beer as well as a variety of featured mixed drinks.
Service was great - friendly and attentive.
When you find yourself craving a late-night nosh, head to The Axe & Fiddle where you'll find a delicious assortment of culinary delights!
This is the best place for dinner, drinks and music! Such nice staff and friendly locals!
"The center of the Universe," the Axe and Fiddle has everything you're looking for and more. It's inviting, welcoming, and feels like home from the very minute you walk through the doors. Phenomenal staff, amazing entertainment, and the food is out of this world. My favorite place in Cottage Grove!
Good atmosphere and lively setting. Opens up into a vibrant dining and lounging location.
Had a sad Negroni, but always room for improvement 👍
I visited for the grilled cheese experience and their sandwitch was great, I think I loved the salmon chowder even more! Service was friendly and good! I will go back and try more things!
Ordered a Bloody Mary and Garlic Fries. So Delicious! Great customer service as well.
Small town charm, great variety on the menu, reasonable prices. Great place to listen to traveling musicians and small bands.
