If this is what the food is like in England, sign me up. First the negatives: the sun room or converted porch attracts flys, just enough to be annoying. Second, it might have been a new waitress but service was a bit slow. She more than made up for it in personality and help with the menu. Make reservations, this place stays busy. Call the day before you go or before you decide to go. I’m not a tea drinker but if you are they must have over a hundred to choose from. We were there for lunch and started with tea and hot cross buns. My wife liked the tea and the buns were delicious. We both had the Bangers and Mash which came with a salad, excellent. For desert we had the cheesecake which was quite good and had some other little treats that came with it. As far as the wait goes after we saw our main course I had the feeling they cooked it fresh when ordered. We will go back. I’m sure they’ll fix the fly issue in that one small area.

Just wanted to share what an amazing experience I had at The English Tea Room last Friday. I (along with a small group of ladies) attended the Downton Abbey Tea and Trivia night at the Tea Room. It was a set menu so I was already nervous and prepared to go home hungry. In the days leading up to the event, I called several times to remind them of my gluten allergy (Celiac disease) and shellfish/fish allergy. They assured me they would take care of me. Once there, I again mentioned it to our hostess and waitress. As I do wherever I go, I asked for the chef to come to the table. Less than 5 minutes later, the main chef (Tim) came to the table, asked all about my allergies, and went back to the kitchen to prepare a plate just for me. Even though I didn’t get to try the dinner they had prepared for the set menu, they served me a beautiful and delicious dinner plate and dessert - all gluten free and safe for my allergies. It was a WONDERFUL experience and I highly recommended The English Tea Room!!!

Always an absolute joy to bring new friends here! I highly recommend reservations, this place fills up quick especially on weekends. There is not a better place around for a huge selection of teas and the best scones around.

We were *those* people who show up half an hour before closing, and our waitress was still incredibly nice to us :) My high expectations for the selection were blown away! I've never seen so many teas on a menu in my life, and it was a bit overwhelming. I decided to stick to the traditional English blacks and had the Windsor Castle & the Lady Londonderry. They were perfectly steeped and i enjoyed them both. I had a hard time deciding between scones and trying a crumpet for the first time. The waitress let me order one of each, and i choose the vanilla scone; my friends chose the savory scones and let me try one. The scones were delicious, and i was super pleased with the crumpet, too. If i went back today, it'd still be a tough choice. We finished the visit off with tea to go and some loose leaf for tomorrow morning. The whole experience was absolutely delightful, and worth the hour drive. I'll definitely be returning in my future visits to New Orleans.

Today was my first time here. My sister and I brought my mom to celebrate her birthday. From the moment we walked in, the staff was very friendly and helpful. We loved sitting in a room away from the crowd, it felt so quaint and cozy! It was special the staff knew it was my moms birthday and brought her a cupcake with a candle. The food and tea was delicious! I can’t wait to go back. Thank you for a great first experience!

The food was delicious and the tea was the best. We all were raving about everything. Thank y’all for making my birthday amazing.

My friends and I Love the English Tea Room. I visit there often and got to know Jan and Tim, the owners. They have done a terrific job with the teas, food and the staff. I had my first Crumpet there yesterday, but their Scones are always a treat. We have tasted many of their teas, but , of course, we all have our Favorites! Mine is the Earl Grey Cream tea but, the Dr, Who tea is a close second and the Rooibos teas...a cozy, quaint place to pass the time with excellent food and service.😘

This place is amazing! I make the 30 minute drive from Hammond very often just to get some tea. The soups are always delicious, and I love that there are so many teas to choose from. I wish we had another English tea room near Hammond! I’d pick up a tea every single day! All of the servers are top notch and give excellent service. Definitely will returning every time I come home from college.

My daughter and I had made the drive all the way from Lafayette to have high tea... we had arrived at noon and was greeted promptly from the very nice hostess. But was informed they were booked up until 4:30 so we made the reservation then . (Make Reservations)So glad we had decided we would stick around too ! The atmosphere was very charming and the people were so nice and helpful in helping us select a tea we would enjoy, as there was over 200 to choose from !!!! We had the prince Williams high tea service . The scones are delicious but honestly everything we had was delicious! I would highly recommend everyone try it ! I know we will definitely be back !!! We loved it !

I went here this morning with my mom, sisters and nieces to celebrate my mom's birthday. It was such a fun experience. Our waitress was very helpful in choosing some delicious teas that we loved. The food was wonderful too, especially the breakfast casserole! We will be back! *Edit to add, I would suggest making a reservation like we did! We were seated immediately with a reservation, but the place was packed!*

A great place to spend a couple hours drinking tea and eating good food. The staff is friendly, service is great, and portion are pretty good for the price. The only complaint I have is I wish they had another bigger location.

Love this place so much!!! I’ve been looking for a place that mimicked the time I had in England. Our servers were very friendly and gave a very realistic English tea experience. I cannot wait to go back.

This is the best tea I've had in the whole country. Vegas, Los Angeles, Florida, NYC, Chicago, New Orleans, all pale in comparison to a cozy little shop Covington Louisiana. Their tea selection goes on for 4 pages, all 6 I tried were delectable, every tea is available by the sack inside. The food was plentiful and exquisite, not too expensive either. This is to say nothing about the Decor and Ambiance, which is unique, welcoming and distinct. Come here every day.

This place was an experience! My wife and I stopped by here on a trip to go Kayaking on the Northshore. First, no that you will need reservations. Unless I missed it, you will need to call to make these reservations. We wanted to go on a Saturday and we (after having our kayak trip canceled twice due to weather) discovered that you have to call in advance. The first time we called mid-week and they were booked up. Maybe not for weekdays, but definitely for Saturday. The restaurant has various themed rooms. All are adorable. The tea service is great! Soooooooo many teas!!! I had a black tea that was recommend. My wife had a hibiscus. Both yummy. I had the Windsor high-tea while my wife had Shepard’s pie. Both were tasty. The scones are absolutely the best!!! My only gripe would be the customer service was a little lacking. Everyone was very very friendly, but it wasn’t the fastest service. It took probably 10 min from the time our check was dropped off for the waitress to make her way back around. Ultimately it didn’t really impact our experience so I am still happy to rate them 5 stars. Overall, this place is a gem and very unique. Highly recommend!

This place is neat. I love the variety of teas offered and their scones are so yummy. There’s nothing else like it in our area. I do wish it was easier to get a reservation, though.
