First time here. I love places that have a solid family history. We got what they are known for, the poor boy steak sandwich. The thing that makes this different is the garlic butter it is applied to the meat, not the bread. Unlike garlic bread that can be inconsistent flavor, this flavor is consistent throughout. Its a party in your mouth with each bite. We didn't get anything on it, to get the full flavor of the 6 oz round steak. Next time I'll add the mushrooms. They offered cheese, onions, or mushrooms. It comes with thinly sliced pickles. I have to say it adds a nice touch, considering I'm not in the pickle fan club. The sandwich is a nice size and will get me 2 meals. I ordered fries and my husband ordered onion rings. The fries were ordinary, the star was the onion rings. The presentation was appealing, they were crunchy, and nice light rings. You could bite through the onions, cooked perfectly. I hate biting in an onion ring and the whole thing comes out. It's served with ranch dressing. Our friends recommended the double baked potato. It was good but I think it really didn't go with this sandwich. My husband enjoyed it though. The atmosphere is homey, and comfortable, The service is very good and attentive. The onion rings are pricey but worth every penny. This restaurant has been around forever and does not need my review, but they have a great place, and we need to spread the word! We drive 60 miles round trip and we'll be back!

Came here on a Saturday night, first time ever coming here and it was like walking into a time capsule, so cool! Our waitress, Melissa was very friendly and accommodating she even gave us a history lesson on the place. Everything we ate was very good, we can’t wait to come back!

Merichka’s is such a Joliet go to. Food is good and always good service. I personally prefer the Yodel burger over the poor boy. The pork chops are giant so definitely expect to be here a little longer so they can cook it all the way through.

Have loved it forever, just 4 stars as the price is a bit much for poor boy. Yes it's good but a bit much The food and service is great. Though I usually don't order anything besides a poor boy. Double baked potato and an onion ring app...

Very old well established family restaurant, seems that a lot of seniors visit here. 5 o'clock on Saturday afternoon very busy,20-30 minute wait. Although needs updating it is clean and has a nostalgic feel. Small bar area with few tables. Staff very nice and accommodating. Real cloth napkins....( fancy...) Had steak sandwich with American fries..good and plentiful. Good place. Good meal. Fair prices. Great service. Well worth the wait. We will be back

BEST POOR BOY STEAK SANDWITCH IN EXISTANCE!!!! Their poor boys are one of those things that wake you up in the middle of the night. One of those things that you know isnt good for you, but you can't get enough of it. Once you finish it you wonder when will be the next time you get to experience it again. You almost wish you could vomit it back up and re eat it, no lie. It is something that belongs in the hall of the gods, it will forever sit high on the throne of poorboys. You could travel America and never find another gem quite as beautiful as a merichkas poor boy. Their staff is always easy to work with and extremely nice and cooperative. Service is always quick and friendly, take out is always hot and delicious, dining in makes you feel as if you are back at grandma's house. A feeling you can't get most places so that in its own light is extremely special. I am glad my family brought me here as a child and I still come as an adult. One day I will bring my children, LONG LIVE MERICHKAS!!!!!!!!!
