There’s nothing fancy about this place but the food is so tasty. My favorite dish from the menu is combo fried rice, the taste and portion really hit the spot. Service is always friendly especially the girl with a bun on top her head and latino guy. The price for the food and beer is cheap compare to other restaurants around.

SWMBO had seen something about Rutt's Hawaiian Cafe online, so we decided to try it out for breakfast. It was about half full when we arrived, so there was no waiting for a table.
The menu definitely has an island flair to it, with many Hawaiian dishes and twists.
SWMBO chose the junior size Kalua Royale ($6.95) from the Rutt's Famous Royale section of the menu. This is essentially scrambled eggs with Kalua pork, onions and bean sprouts, served on a bed of rice. A different and tasty way to have your eggs.
I ordered the Rutt's Breakfast Spam ($8.95), which came with four pieces of fried Spam, two soft eggs, homestyle fried potatoes, and a sweet roll. The Spam brought back good memories of a family vacation to Hawaii many years ago.
Very good breakfast at very good prices.
had an awesome breakfast here this morning for our first american breakfast experience we could not ask for better.original hawaiian royal was off the chain especially with the house salsa and teriyaki sauce also killer french toast and melt in your mouth char sui.
NEIGHBORBHOOD PLACE. WHERE EVERYBODY KNOWS YOUR NAME AND THERE ALWAYS GLAD YOU CAME.
Culver city staple. Hawaiian Royale an egg scramble with rice and veges and meat of your choice must be tried. great place, friendly wait staff, homey environment, lots of regulars. You can fill up and have leftovers for the next day for under $10. This is a must try
Yum yum! Cute, casual, & friendly staff. Great w/ kids.

Tasty and Inexpensive. My family likes sending me to Rutt's to pick up food for dinner, because it all tastes good, and you can fill up for under $10. Everybody has a different favorite dish-- my wife likes the oxtail stew, my sister-in-law likes the Hawaiian Royale (an egg scramble with noodles), my son always orders a burger or a Spam musubi, brother-in-law orders kalua pork quesadillas, and I like their ribs and kim chi. There has been a proliferation of Hawaiian chains on the Westside in recent years (there are now two Ono Hawaiians in Culver City alone), but Rutt's has been around for quite some time and continue to hold their own and maintain the local character of Culver City.
Awesome food, great prices, fast service. Nuff said.
Incredible food and quick service...I've gone so many times that the waitress there knows my order by heart! Make sure to try their yummy royales and delicious pancakes!
Amazing breakfast!!! Didn't like dinner much.
Homey & great prices for Hawaiian eats. Rutt's cafe is not bad for the westside, but it really does pale in comparison to lets say....bruddah's in gardena. however, one must get their hawaiian fix on the westside without enduring the 405 freeway nightmare.......and this is where rutt's comes into play.
i've been to rutt's roughly 4-5x in 2006 and i am fairly happy with their rendition of hawaiian food. the loco moco seems as though they are hand formed hunks of seasoned ground beef vs the smart n final processed patties (can you say bland and dry?!?) found at other "hawaiian" joints on the westside. score for rutt's!
other than the loco moco, my other go-to dish is the royale. this dish is slightly inconsistent, the first two times that i had the royale, it was really good, however, on the 3rd time at bat, the royale was very bland. weird. oh, and do ask for the coronary-inducing addition of bacon. the bacon adds much more flavor to the royale in addition to a nice crispiness to every bite.
lastly, the kahlua pork is decent. i've only had this dish once, and there was a smoked flavor imbedded in the pork (although the smokiness tasted like liquid smoke) and the meat was very tender. i could have done without the funky smoked flavor as the pork would have been fine on its own merit.
all in all, rutt's is a good place to pull up a chair on a lazy saturday morning, endulge in many a calories and watch the world slowly go by. but!! if you want great hawaiian food and can brave the 405, you really need to head down to bruddah's.
we are obsessed with the fried rice at rutt’s. we order the original hawaiian royale. kyle orders the king size and i order the regular. there’s a junior size…psh. that’s a mistake. what’s in the royale? sausage, char sui, rice eggs, bean sprouts and onions all stir fried together. so simple. we are in love with the teriyaki sauce… liquid heaven in my opinion (i’m gross. i drench my fried rice in it). it’s not thick…very diluted. so it’s not as bad as it sounds. pour sriracha on top. bam. (make sure you douse in teriyaki and sriracha. you will not regret it) i cant speak to the breakfast menu although a lot of people rave about it. we have ordered some of the other hawaiian items on the menu (kalua pork and spam) but always come back to the fried rice.
Great place with great food. Went in for a special, had an issue with a promotion but the very helpful staff worked it out with me. Definitely returning soon.
Good neighborhood place for Hawaiian food. Strangely enough they also have middle eastern food like shwarma. There are a few parking spots on the side but it's a corner location so hard to back out. Best bet is to park on the street along Washington Pl.
Rutts is very responsible during the pandemic. The food is consistently good.
Friendly casual service. Good food. Miss the charm of their old location, but it's a community mainstay for sure.
Spam and egg breakfast sandwich. It's on four Hawaiian rolls. Comes with home fries but ordered regular fries. So good!!
This is the best hawaiian food i've had in California. Very Delicious and lots and lots of food on your plate!
Hawaiian food... so delicious. Looking forward to returning with my friends. I can see why they have a lot of positive reviews.
Honestly, hands down best royal milk tea I've ever had. It's the perfect amount of sweet for my sweet tooth. And the ambiance is so compatible for a chat with friends or to just sit back, study, read, or relax. Although, I recommend it !
