I am far from an expert on Mexican food, as my only experience with it is being wasted at Taco Bell at 4am. But this place is phenomenal. I had the Chile relleno (one chicken and one cheese), flautas, and a flan. The cheese Chile relleno was by far my favourite thing and the chips and salsa. The flavours are good and spicy and the service is very nice. Will definitely go back and try more of the menu.

Excellent food and great service. The black mole burrito is fantastic, full of wonderful flavours. The mixed Tlayuda is flavourful and aromatic. Liver, asada, carnitas, everything we've ordered here has been an extraordinary treat. The chips and salsa you get as soon as you sit down are warm and thick. The traditional spiced coffee is delicious, served in a thick cup; you get unlimited refill. The atmosphere is relaxed, and the staff are very welcoming. It's a small traditional restaurant that serves food full of flavour. I highly recommend it. Wonderful!

I finally got to visit & enjoy my first meal at El Jacalito! First the complimentary chips & house salsa, Outstanding! (If you like spicy!) I had the chilaquiles verdes w/chorizo! Loved it! (As you can see it's a big plate) You definitely get your money's worth. The staff were awesome & helpful, very attentive! I highly recommend & will definitely go thru the whole menu eventually!

Wow. Wow. Wow So authentic. The mole is so so good and authentic. The plates look very good. The plates are not huge and exaggerating with food, but just right. I rather go for quality than quantity. The place is not big so small groups more convenient. Out part was 10. Prices are reasonable. For sure again.

Such a great experience! The young woman was so nice. I got shredded beef taquitos with black beans, lettuce & guacamole. Also ordered the carne asada quesadilla with guacamole, I asked for sour cream as well. Both dishes were so delicious! Fresh & flavorful! She was kind enough to ask if I wanted more than the 2 salsas she had put in the bag & ended up giving me 4 more, which was perfect because I used them all; the salsa was fresh & had a good kick to it. The prices were perfect for what I ordered; just over $13 for the 2 items + a small bag of chips.

This is the 2nd time we have been here, and it dose not disappoint, the food not only is the quality good, but it meets my standard, it is good and the taste is excellent, it is now on my list of favorite places, I would like them to add cafe de olla, and I am all set for the next visit.

Excellent Oaxacan place! I recommend if you are in the area looking for some good Mexican that has a little more to offer than the standard California Mexican spots. El Jacalito offers the Mexican food staples, but with the Oaxacan flavor which is slightly different and very delicious. Chilaquiles we're very good, and the Tlayuda is good for sharing as an appetizer, wouldn't recommend for single meal.
