First time ever, Jose the waitress was an amazing guy, he helped us with the menu and the food was amazing, pancakes like I never tasted before, I do extremely recommend this place.
This is the kind of place that you see in movies / tv shows, the place the characters go every Sunday morning and they know the whole staff and their coffee cup is never empty. They sit there talking about their week, or falling in love, and everything seems too perfect. That's is Johns atmosphere. You go to the counter to pour your own coffee and the owner is back behind the counter greeting you while taking your order. Everything is perfect about John's
Always the best omelettes in town, hot off the grill. We keep trying new places for variety, but John always wins. This is a place better than home.

This place is such a GEM! We love it here! We've eaten breakfast here quite a few times and I'm sad we didn't discover this place sooner! John is always there working the register or in the kitchen! A great little place I hope stays around forever!
This is a great place to enjoy breakfast and lunch with friends. The food is outstanding and they have an excellent staff.
Yes, it does get busy at John's, and while the food is certainly good, the biggest selling point is John and the staff. They are always quick, polite, and very friendly. Something lost on most places, especially chains.
Our favorite place to take the grandkids on the weekends, the service is excellent and the food is too. We love those big family tables you never know who you might have a meal with..
Best breakfast in town! Service is excellent and everyone is friendly.
Really enjoyed seeing John yesterday.
It's a must place to go when my daughter visits from Colorado.
I've been coming here since I was a little girl, original location and always managed to find a seat! My favorite breakfast spot for years! Doesn't get any better than that breakfast special and I've always loved the community feel.
The absolute best neighborhood breakfast spot to eat! We live in Navarro county and will make the hour drive every chance we get!
John's has been around for 25 years. Offers a great meal and friendly environment. Don't miss out if your near by!!
Having breakfast and lunch at John's Cafe, almost every week, for 30 years. John and his family are heroes to me! Or is that "gyros"?
Great place. I love how you get to serve coffee if you’re getting some for yourself.
You can’t get a better Chicken Fried Steak in town ! Gravy is like no other ! Go get cha one !
John’s is located in a strip mall on Greenville Ave., and really doesn’t not standout, except that when you enter you realize it has a large, very loyal clientele. Fortunately, we were with friends, who guided us through the process of ordering first, getting your coffee and then moving off to the side to wait for a table. While the café is not large, the turnover (even on a Sunday morning) is fairly quick so long as the line is reasonable. Breakfast fare is pretty standard, portions are large, prices reasonable. Not a brunch place, John’s just has the basics; the food is good; and you go away satisfied ready to get on with your day. Only complaint is the coffee is weak, but there are free refills.
Good find! The breakfast .... Good find!
The breakfast was just what I needed on a cold dreary morning!
Definitely worth stopping for and I will be back.
Good food and cheap. ate at the old place, then he moved out on Plano rd for awhile and it was closer to
our house and we loved it. then he sold it and we stopped going cause of new owners. John moved back
to Greenville and we haven't been back there. but sur the food is good as usual.
And to think.... It was right there the whole time (except for when it was in Plano).
Among all the old standards, hip eateries and valet parked places to eat on Greenville, we pretty much accidentally found John's on a recent visit to Dallas, and glad we did.
We do love the unassuming, family run diner type place and this was one of the better ones we've been to. Clean, friendly, fast and yummy. What else do you want from a place that just wants to feed you?
John's old location across from Terrili's had tattered atmosphere that everyone loved. The newer version is going to get there in a couple more decades but I like the friendly service and that feeling you get when you know everyone in the room eats here regularly. Good cheap breakfasts and they keep the coffee coming.
Wonderful!. Great breakfast, and cheap! This is a regular for me!
JReynolds. Breakfast is king at John's. But there are much better choices in town for a cheap lunch.
I loved this place! I was visiting Dallas to see friends and my friends took me here. I loved the small, cozy place. They have a great variety of foods - from traditional breakfast foods to Gyros to Mexican food. I ordered breakfast. The food was phenomenal, the staff was very welcoming, and we didn't wait long for our food. Every time I visit Dallas, I want to come here!
Cozy restaurant with a down home feel. Daily lunch specials, made to order with limited seating.
So My Wife surprised me about this Cafe! ☺️So I didn't know what to expect, But honestly it was Very Good I dig the Atmosphere very nice cozy vibe ! 🎯💯 Definitely enjoyed the Breakfast Plate The Bacon was 10/10 nice thick, hearty, crispy! But THOSE BUTTERMILK BISCUIT are Heaven sent and the Gravy is the Halo!😇🎯💯 On issue is the communication of the service is lack and waiting for a seat is a dragg of an experience, But other than that wonderful spot! 💯 Just get in early 🤣💯❤️
Went to meet a friend here for breakfast they ended up deciding to go somewhere else but I definitely want to come back and try this place out It's a hole in the wall but that's usually where you find the best food
John's Cafe is a wonderful family owned restaurant that has been around the Greenville area for more than 20 years. I have been going to this location since 2014. It has a great breakfast special with unlimited coffee refills. Their lunch menu is also very delicious. If you're in the area make sure to come here before 3pm! Also, make sure to order before you sit.
Great breakfast spot! Lunch looked good too. I got the migas (wonderful homemade salsa) and my boyfriend got the breakfast special, the biscuits are amazing.
If you're nostalgic for a late 80s or early 90s diner, this is your place. The food is delicious (I had the gyro omelet), the place is cozy, and the owner still delivers your food to your table. Can highly recommend, unless you're in a rush. It can take some time to get to you because they're busy- but the wait is well worth it!
My wife and I had breakfast here on our 22nd anniversary. The food was perfect, cheesesteak omelet had no fatty or chewy spots and marvelous melted cheese. Pancakes were just right. John's cafe has a long history in Dallas and we wanted to check it out.
If you visited George's in Shreveport and loved it, go here. It was so good! We both had pancakes and enjoyed the wall decor. History speaks well here. Also, huge lemons!
If you want classic diner food that tastes delicious, then go to John’s Cafe. Around since 1972, this places knows exactly how to cook a good meal. I highly recommend, especially the breakfast special or the veggie omelette.
