First off, I love their company policy to turn wifi off on weekends. People seriously need to befriend their neighbors and people in the community in real life rather than be addicted to the internet and social media. This is a house, converted into a book store in a residential neighborhood. More accurately, it is a hybrid of a coffee shop and wine bar. They serve breakfast tacos as well. The backyard is very nice and has plenty of seating. I think this is a cool interesting concept. It is definitely romantic. There is no parking lot so you have to park on the street.

How can anyone give this place less than 5 stars? What an amazing place to hang, meet people, buy a book, record, have a cocktail, glass of wine, cup of coffee, or see a show. Pretty much every single thing I love in one place.

My favorite bookstore/coffee shop/bar in all of Dallas. Great atmosphere, excellent book selection, delicious coffee and cocktails. Plenty of patio seating in the back, in addition to inside seating. The baristas are fantastic - quick, attentive, just perfect. The place can get busy at times with lots of people crowding the bar area to place their order, which is a sign of how good the drinks are but also means that you might have to wait just a little for your order. I love their books even more than their coffee. This is an authentic indie bookstore, with the sort of books that customers who like to frequent indie bookstores will like to buy, if that makes sense. Highly recommended.

I love this place! I first became aware because of friends performing here then I happened to do a mini zine that got launched here & came out again & now it is one of my favorite stops on a nice day for some tea or coffee & to browse their books, chill on the patio or catch an evening show of poetry, Shakespeare or music. ❤️

This place is amazing friendly, great service, AMAZING cocktails and lovely laid back atmosphere. You have to be members to drink here, but that’s a 1 minute driving license scan. Can’t say enough good things about this place - we love it!

Love the cozy atmosphere of this place! The bartenders were all amazing. The quality of the cocktails was great. Love the unique things offered here - the different variety of books and cocktails. They have a lot of things you wouldn't find anywhere else.

I loved this bookstore! A small location so not a large selection of books but the books there are wide ranging and quality choices. It has a great atmosphere though with a bar serving literary themed drinks as well as coffee or tea and several places to sit and enjoy.

Shonti was amazing. She has an amazing and fun personality and the place itself has great music and calm vibe. Though they were playing music I was still able to focus on reading. Did you know you buy a book they give you ANY drink for freeee.

Great coffee, not very crowded and a low key atmosphere. I love the happy hour idea of buying a book and getting one drink for free! Definitely worth visiting.

Dallas isn't all Dallas thinks Dallas is, but The Wild Detectives is something that defines a special spot in a city like Dallas. I moved a few thousand miles away and coming back to this place was instant bliss.

This is one of my go-to bars. Great outdoor back patio, amazing cocktails, wonderful bartender and service. I overall just love the concept. The Irish coffee is my go to drink to unwind and relax. All the bartenders know their stuff and I've never received anything less than a perfect cocktail.

This is a cool little coffee shop/bar/bookshop in the Bishop Arts District. All the drinks we tried were well made and the staff was friendly on busy Sunday afternoon. Was there for an open mic with DAMPA, and it was a great outdoor venue.

Visited with my brother. It was cute from the start and the concept is great. Coffee definitely needs more TLC but overall a wonderful experience even with the 1 staffed person there. He was doing his job, taking care of customers and had a good vibe doing so.

Far and away one of my favorite places in Dallas. You walk through the door and feel so comfortable, the book collection is amazing. You can grab a drink while you browse. There is a great outdoor space out back. Every time I go I discover new books that I knew nothing about!

Easily my favorite book store + coffee shop, the selection is great, there’s always a sense of community, the hours are accommodating, and they have great events on a regular basis.

The atmosphere was posh and bohemian. This book venue was short on books but long on class. I spoke with a regular patron who advised of the array of intellectual activities on offer pre COVID. They served alcohol which is a great addition for some. As I am not a purveyor of wine, spirits, or any alcoholic beverage it did not sway me. The interior was beautiful and the decor was swanky. The lack of space would cause a bottleneck. The patio area in the front and back was capacious and welcoming. I found one lovely book that I felt was written just for me! My plan is to visit again next summer to engage in the full expedience!

I went here for the 'talking dirty after dark' event and.... The event was a blast with some amazing(ly brave & awesome) story tellers and a wonderful MC. I'm looking forward to going back for the next but be sure, I will def be back to wild detectives before then. Great space, attentive bar staff. Great patio / event space out back. Clean. A fun yet relaxing space.

Great community hub with music, poetry, cumbia events and more. Buy a book and get a free drink, no wi fi Wednesdays. Have gone here to study, relax, and holding book club. Limited indoor space and few food option. Nice outdoor area in the back and some seating up front as well. Parking can be difficult when busy, it is in a residential area, so mostly street parking or a walk from a lot
