Pleasantly surprised by this place! The food was very well priced and well flavored.
The ambiance is nice as well and the lunch specials come with a salad and soup. I ordered the cashew stir fry and thought it was delicious. Like most Thai places, you can add a spice level to your dish. I went for a 4 out of 5 (spicy level) and survived so that's an additional plus for me.
After having passed by Banana Leaf for the past 22 years of living approximately 7.5 miles away from here, we (my Mom and I) finally decided to stop in and have a meal. My only regret is that we didn't come here sooner.
Hands down, the best Thai Food we have ever had. A truly authentic culinary experience. A small, intimate and aesthetically pleasing space with beautiful and inviting energy.
Ariana was our server. Upon entering, she greeted us promptly with a smile, then seated and handed us menus. She was very patient with us as we were first time visitors. Not once during our meal did we ever feel rushed or like we had to vacate the table for turnover. We started things off with unsweetened ice teas. Cool and refreshing even though the blazing hot Texas temperatures are beginning to wind down.
Our meals came with a soup and salad with peanut sauce. Today's soup was cucumber with tofu. Simple yet elegant - almost like silk. The broth was flavorful as well and was the perfect accompaniment to our appetizer. We ordered the Thai fresh chicken spring rolls which were generously filled - the ratio of chicken to veggies was perfect. The combination and balance achieved a perfect bite. The flavor profile of the peanut sauce was something we both particularly enjoyed. It wasn't too heavy nor did it linger on the palate.
For our entrées, Mom ordered the green chicken curry(not pictured) and I ordered the glass noodle pad thai. It is clear that this establishment is indeed authentic for the simple reason that both dishes were excellent, beautifully executed, and accurate in every detail right down to the flavor and spice level(we both ordered a 2 on the 5 scale). The portions are both generous and reasonable for the price and for two (or perhaps more) people to share.
For dessert, Mom ordered the mango ice cream and I ordered the green tea ice cream. It was absolutely divine. The earthiness of the green tea with a creamy/icy consistency and a hint of sweetness left me wanting more. Mom said she enjoyed hers as well.
I understand that Banana Leaf has been conducting business for the past 36 years, and there is a reason- it absolutely reflects the owner's passion, commitment, and adherence to high standards of food, service, and ambiance. Wanted to meet the owner since I have heard others speak highly of him, but the servers mentioned that he was out doing a catering order, so perhaps on our next visit. We will be back!
It's been a while since I last visited this restaurant, but this time I opted for takeout. We were greeted by a very friendly owner. I ordered the Beef Pad See Ew priced at $16, which was incredibly savory. Too much for my taste. The portion was also standard for the price. I would probably go again but order something else.
The Banana Leaf is a special place! Steve, Kat and the staff there are amazing! It’s always an uplifting experience when you walk in the door, especially when you are greeted by Steve (owner) and his unchanging enthusiasm. You already feel like you’re gonna have a great experience even before you get your food. And the food, bright, colorful and aromatic! A real feast for the eyes and from the moment you first taste your meal to when you’re done, utter bliss and joy. Fantastic place for friends and especially family. I’m very biased because I’ve only gone there for over 20 years!
It’s must for anyone who wants to have great time.
I love this place so much! It has been a great get together location for myself and family members. Steve is great and his staff is wonderful. They closed down their restaurant for my proposal, with the help of my sister and family. This is a special place I’ll remember forever. 💍💍
One of my favorite Thai spots! Super awesome staff, and food is always delicious. I got the app platter, Tom kha soup, and basil noodles. Can’t wait to be back!!
A friend who works nearby this restaurant had been saying great things about this place. We met up for lunch yesterday and he was absolutely right. The food, service, and prices were all excellent.
I had the pad see ew with shrimp and the lunch came with a side salad and a bowl of soup. The noodles were very fresh, the dish was nicely prepared (both the flavor and the presentation), and the portion was very generous. The $2 upcharge for the shrimp was well worth it since they were large and plentiful.
Even though it's a bit of a distance, I will make the drive for this place whenever I'm in the mood for some Thai food, which is pretty often.
This is an amazing restaurant. First of all, the food is excellent. The bathrooms are very clean and they even have free mouthwash. The deserts are good, the main dishes are good, and the appetizers are amazing. I especially loved the Thai tea. I recommend this restaurant if you are going to get Thai cuisine. 10/10
Very very delicious food. Tried the fried rice, tom yum soup, spring rolls, steak, and chicken wings. Everything was amazing and the staff were so sweet
This place never fails!!!!! Just can't even do it justice with my review. The food is always so fresh and the flavors are out of this world. Been eating this food for years and used them for hundreds of catering events. It is ALWAYS a crowd pleaser. No matter who you are, you will find something you like and can't get enough of at Banana Leaf. STOP reading...just go eat here and you will see for yourself!
The portions are large and the food is good. I've ordered delivery from this place over the years and this is the first time I've dined-in. It's a small and friendly place to have a meal.
Very nice place, good ambiance. Nice entrance and have a tiny pieces of collection. The owner of the place is so polite, and helped us and he offered to customize the food as per the taste. Coming to the food….
The best part is the soup we ordered hotpot and that’s the best part of the lunch
Crispy spring rolls , dumplings, basil fried rice, Cajun fried rice, duck curry are up to our spice levels
U must try fried icecream here
This is the third time I’ve eaten at this restaurant in the past year and it’s a first for me! In addition to the typical Pad Thai and curries. This place has more traditional dishes like papaya salad, beef salad, and fried fish dishes, etc. All the dishes are amazing and is spicy for me at level 2, so adjust accordingly! The fried cheesecake is a must try, it’s basically sweet cream cheese wrapped in phyllo dough, then fried. So good!
Banana Leaf did not disappoint. Good portion size at a reasonable price. I don't have to tell you how rare that has become. Swing by soon. You will not be disappointed. Try the Drunken Noodles!
10/10, sampler taste very flavourful and the saurces are perfect! Service 10/10! We will definitely come back again!
This is my go-to Thai food in North Dallas. The flavors are on point, the portions are incredible, and the service is great. Lunch is served with soup and salad, it's always delicious. I had my first taste of cucumber soup here, it was truly delicious.
Red curry is rich and creamy, the Cajun rice is so tasty and has the perfect kick! The lettuce wrap appetizer makes a great meal also! I'll be back to try the rest of the menu, lol.
I ordered a catering order for an office and food and presentation was amazing. Staff loved it. Steve and Kameron went above and beyond to make sure food was delivered on time and that we chose the best selections to accommodate a variety of food selections they offer. I will be using them again!!
Great quality food and friendly staff. Food tasted fresh and flavorful. We’ll be back.
My 12 year old son, who has a very sophisticated palette as I’m a foodie and he is my restaurant buddy, says this is the best Asian/Thai food he has ever had. He said that the food was extraordinary!!! It had the perfect amount of flavor and spice!!! He wants it again for dinner, despite just having had it for lunch. We had the Pad Plik King and I must say…I too agree that it is one of the most flavorful dishes I’ve had in a long time. Unfortunately, we don’t have a Banana Leaf near us in Arlington/Mansfield, but I used them for my pharmaceutical lunches in the Plano area. Looks like I’ll have to grab us dinner in Plano and bring it back to Mansfield on my way home from work because it truly was amazing! But if the owners are reading this….bring one to the Arlington area!!!
