I went here based off a recommendation and I was not disappointed. The ribs were tender and the portions were a decent size based off the money you paid. The ribs were flavorful and well seasoned. I can’t wait to come back here and try something else on the menu. I ordered online and the food was ready promptly when I arrived.
Good BBQ and a pleasant surprise I stumbled accross. Was planning to hit up Lee Harvey’s but hell the BBQ smoke and flavorful odors emitting from the chimney pulled me in a coke head to a freebase party.
Cornish Hens. They’ve got Cornish Hens! Heaven. Got the 3 meat plate and a fat Baked Potato.
This BBQ spot will put anyone else in Dallas to shame. Customer Service was a 10, Food is a 20 and I didn't have to wait long on my food at all. Only downside is they are only open Tuesday thru Saturday. Don't waste time people.....PULL UP!
For a little BBQ spot black owned it's not too bad. I work near the place I go in on Thursday because he freshly barbecues and cook everything on Thursdays. I've only seen one woman working there she has a great personality she is very professional and friendly and she makes you want to come back. I really don't know what her position is but a lot of times when I go in she's working the cash register, but I think she does way more than that. She told me they've been in business for 26 years gave me a little history on the place great customer service. I got a two meat platter barbecue baked beans with ground beef in it and string beans with chicken in it then I got the brisket and some chicken.
3:02 pm. It was the time I went. Quite and nice. I had the 2 meat plate with salad and Jaks beans, all amazing with spice and flavor. Highly recommend this spot for smomed BBQ. Match with Hutchins BBQ for flavor, taste, and tenderness.
First time in. Ribs and brisket and smoked turkey delicious 😋
One word: Incredible!
Walking in I loved the atmosphere and feel of the place. Unlike some of the “popular” bbq places in or near downtown Baby Back Shak knows what it is - a true Texas bbq joint.
The lady at the counter that took our order was really nice and answered all of our questions.
My wife & I got the chopped beef sandwich & both had a side of chips instead of one of their normal sides.
The chopped beef was great! Unlike most places there was no huge chunks of fat or gristle in the meat. Just excellent bbq brisket.
Since the bbq sandwich was so good I decided to order the Boudin sausage ( 1st bbq place I’ve ever seen that serves boudin). I got the 1 & 1/2 link order & figured I’d have just a couple of bites to try it.
This was the absolute best boudin I have ever had! I had to eat it all before I left.
And, the lemonade here is also truly outstanding!
If you are looking for real bbq at a great price stay away from those pretentious bbq restaurants in eep Ellum & Lakewood & check out Baby Back Shak!
Good bbq spot. Close to downtown. Has street and off street parking. Tried their 2 meat potato(chopped beef & hot link) and a 2 meat salad ( chopped beef & turkey). I wouldn't any red meats on the salad unless you like it. The potato with that meat combo was very good.
Everything we were looking for and then some. We tried several different meats and all were fantastic. The beans were also top notch.
The owner is from Memphis. So this is like going home for me. I lived in Memphis for 9 1/2 years. And I've been away for 6 years. This was awesome. The food was delicious. I can't to go again. Specially when I home since for Memphis bbq. One of our supervisors took us for a treat for finishing a project in a very short amount of time. Its was place to eat.
The staff was very nice and helpful, the prices are reasonable compared to places I've been that aren't that good.
Definitely 5 plus status!!
The most authentic BBQ! Visiting Dallas we wanted to find some really good BBQ and we found just the place. There were 10 in our group and everybody enjoyed! You definitely get what you pay for in serving size! So good!
Best ribs hands down always my first stop when I'm in Dallas. Wish there was one in Bowie MD, think about it.
This BBQ is consistently good! This place is a must when in the Downtown Dallas area, one of Dallas’ “hidden gems”. Great atmosphere, good customer service and the Shak Beans are to die for! Also, make yourself a Arnold Palmer (sweet tea/ lemonade mix) you won’t regret it! If it’s your first time visiting and your not sure what to get, order the Shak Platter, it comes with most of the available meats besides turkey, and two sides are included.
Since H&J in the Cliff fell all the way off. I tried this lil hole in the wall bbq shack out and baaby I was not disappointed. They know they put they foot down on them ribs, especially in their Shack beans. Potatoe salad is an acquired taste as they dont put mayo or eggs in theirs, but it was still ok to me. The place is small, but the food was still great.
