Reviews Mughlai Fine Indian Cuisine

I finally decided to revisit one of my favorite Indian buffets yesterday. So many restaurants did not survive Covid, or perhaps eliminated their buffet permanently. I was pleased to see that Mughlai had not done either. Mughlai was always been a little bit upscale… It is not a $9.95 buffet (probably aren’t any of those left), but that’s what I like about it. You get what you pay for. Their selection was as good as ever, including an additional table with pani puri offerings. One thing I particularly like about their food is that the chicken dishes include real hearty chunks of premium chicken… Not the stringy bits you often see on Indian buffets. I was pleased to see one of my favorite dishes, malai kofta, offered, although the consistency was different from what I’m used to. The dumplings were more like mashed potato balls—not unpleasant, but not my favorite. As with any good buffet, there were plenty of good options. My favorite on this visit may have been the nicely spiced chicken chunks… not sure what they were called, but they were right behind the tandoori chicken. While I usually order fresh roti at Indian restaurants, the naan (garlic and plain) was sufficiently thin and chewy so that I didn’t feel the need. The comfort and the atmosphere of Mughlai is still very good: It’s a pleasant place to have a meal. My only real gripe is something that would be easily remedied. The water I was served appeared to be unfiltered tap water. Perhaps not unhealthy, but taste of water is really important to me. Many low-end establishments have good working water filtration, so I really hope Mughlai improves this.

Food quality and quantity is good. Food is delicious. Mango lassi was awesome. Just one small suggestion for mango lassi, keep big wide straw so easy to suck from the straw. It was really difficult. Garlic butter Nan - not that much good. I will suggest not to order. Doesn’t look like came from tandoor. No South Indian cuisine options. So if coming with family and someone like South Indian , then no option Good staff. Always checks with you on your status

Still my favorite Indian restaurant in Dallas. Very authentic, and excellent service. And they’ll control the spice level if you’d like.

My husband and I ate here yesterday. The service was excellent and I appreciated the recommendations we were given! We got the mixed vegetable platter for an appetizer which was great. My husband got the chicken biyrani and I got the chicken kali mirch. Both tasted great and were large portions. We will be coming back as there are a lot of things on the menu that look amazing!

Lamb chop lovers these are the BEST in DFW! We’ve been eating here for years and they’re consistent in taste and being the best. Garlic naan is good. Martinis are normal and good price!

I thought I didn’t like Indian food, but a co-worker dragged me here for a business dinner and ordered for me. I’m not even sure what all we had, but it was all really good. I guess I just hadn’t yet been to the right restaurant! Anyway, we had the vegetarian sampler appetizer, which also surprised me because I normally am a big meat eater, but it was great. We also got the bread basket, which was really really good. The goat vindaloo also surprised me because it’s the first time I’ve had goat that I liked. I can’t praise this place enough. Try it!

I love Indian food. This place has the best lunch buffet. Care and time are put into the food on this buffet. We will return for dinner because the food on the buffet was as good as dinner other places. Also, the staff was friendly and helpful answering any questions we had about sauces and foods we had not tried before. Give this place a try if you are up by the Galleria Mall.

Summary: Non-veg food is really good, Sweets are mouth watering, Veg needs improvement, Service is awesome. Details: We had the honor of visiting the Sunday lunch buffet at Mughlai Restaurant to celebrate our friend's birthday. This was our second visit to this place for a real north Indian Punjabi style food. The first being a dinner about a year ago. On both occasions and that too, a year apart, the food quality has been maintained and this is what i consider a very good sign for a really good restaurant. Even though i really liked the food here, i have rated it as 4 out of 5 simply for the vegetarian's sabzi's taste. I feel they need a bit of improvement. All other dishes were really good. You talk about Tandoori chicken in snacks or Butter chicken (gravy), you will end end up licking your fingers. They probably have less number of items to choose in their Buffet, as compared to other restaurants, but their food taste stands apart. It is always better to have less but good options than plenty and below par quality. The Dahi Vada (as they call Dahi Bhalla in Punjabi), was something that reminded me of Delhi. The way it is made is, you add Deep friend moong dal vada floating in salty curd to a bowl, top it up with sweet Tamarind chutney and Green Coriander sauce. The real test of bhalla (vada) quality is their softness and these were melting in my mouth fast enough to even blink. Tandoori chicken had two flavors, bone-less and with bone. Both were made with precision. The third chicken delicacy was Butter Chicken and was equally good in taste providing enough calories and butter to make one get into deep sleep for hours! Chicken Biryani was fourth item on menu that had chicken in it. This is a sign that they somehow love chicken or they get real slick-deals on chicken stock! I felt that the rice grain quality needs to be better with Biryani. Also, the texture was not as good as you would find in any other South Indian restaurant. In the veg section, I tried Balti Dal, Mushroom sabzi and mix veg. Balti dal was good but other two options needs better cooking skills. The mix veg had a bit bit of extra water which spoils the plate. It should ideally be a bit dry. The bread section had one and only one option i.e. Naan. My wife prefers crispy and hot Naan. This was not the case here. To add to the glory of their dishes, they should improve on serving the hot naan right on table. Coming to the desserts, we had Gulab Jamun and Jalebi. The crisp Jalebi made our day with Gulab Jamun fulfilling my son's taste buds. Both were good and had the softness and crunchiness that define their texture. The restaurant service is good with servers re-filing, clearing plates, trying to make your visit memorable and the owner himself visiting each table to address concerns, if any. My friend (who hosted the birthday) has been a regular customer here since this restaurant opened. He even has his picture in Dallas news paper article, having his team lunch, posted proudly on the, entrance. No doubt, the restaurant is managed pretty well and has maintained its quality of food and service. I would recommend this place for a real north Indian meal. They do have a bar and bar stools to have drinks too. Ambiance is good with dim lighting. They have a separate spacious room for party day's too. Will I visit again: Yes

A upscale Indian restaurant.. ambience and welcoming atmosphere was very good.. they had nice curtains, nice antique which gives Indian rich look and can give 5 star for that.. and comes to food.. i think its mainly targeted for Non Indian or western people .. I am a vegetarian and these comments.are. only on vegetarian food.. taste is less compared to others in the market. Cocktails and mocktails are good. Overall satisfactory. They did celebrated my son birthday and made as a special day for him an additional star for that

Went to celebrate our cousin’s milestone birthday. We had two tables reserved to accommodate our party of 12. Both buffet and alacarte options were Available but we opted for Buffet. Non veg had chicken 65, tandoori chicken and malai kabab. Veg options were pakoda and chaat. Desert had kheer and gulab jamun. Overall good service , ambience and food. Reduced 1 star as there no mutton items on menu and chicken 65 ( which was the pick of starter) wasn’t refilled. Instead they filled veg biryani! Lastly, they have a new location in Frisco, going to try it out next time 😃

Fast service and food came out hot. I would say overall experience was 4 stars. The price and the portions of the food was just too steep for me to say I was 100%+ satisfied. I wish I would of got medium spice instead of spicy, but that was my mistake. Spicy is pretty spicy so just beware if you aren't looking for every bite to be spicy. The food itself was okay but I've been to Indian restaurants that had better tasting food. The last Indian restaurant I went to, I could of got the exact same meal for $10 cheaper.
