Very sweet little spot in Richardson....BYOB, really good chef. Truly Italian food.....made by the Italian! It was great fun and delicious food! Thanks, Chef Vince
Delicious!!! All the pizza and pasta was light and fresh and authentic and you don't leave feeling uncomfortably stuffed like you do at so many American-Italian restaurants. Both my picky kids polished off their meal, which is an added bonus :). And the best Caprese salad I've ever had. Server was very attentive and love that it's BYOB.
Each dish was amazing- including dessert! Service was fantastic. Go try this little neighborhood gem!
Fabulous experience all the way around! Authentic Italian food in a cozy atmosphere. Start with a Caesar salad! The dressing was just right (not too tart) and the Rigatoni Testardo was scrumptious. The red sauce is made with Italian tomatoes and is some of the best I've ever had. Don't miss this Dallas treasure and enjoy!
Great food from the chef and wonderful service from the staff. This is definitely a keeper.
Very authentic Italian food from an actual Italian!! My husband is from Italy & is also a chef, so I'm always nervous going out to eat with him at Italian restaurants. But this time was different! Our dinner at Dal Testardo was the most authentic Italian meal we've had in the States outside of our own home! Seriously delicious!
Authentic italian food cooked by real Italians. Awesome sauces and its BYOB.
Having lived in Italy, I was thrilled to find Dal Testardo with authentic Italian food. An Italian chef with recipes from his mother and Nonna. It doesn't get any better than that. I eat here at least once a week and try something new each time. Always delicious!
Great quiet place. Went for lunch today after my daughter's graduation. Good food.
Had a fabulous time with friends tonight! Food was so delicious and service was outstanding!
Visited this restaurant with 3 friends on 9/11/19 after reading reviews of it... Outside is rather plain looking and some construction/remodeling going on next door but not a problem.. There is ample parking.. The inside of the restaurant is very nice with an Italian atmosphere.... The staff is very nice and friendly and also accomodating if you want any change in your meal. The chef is from Italy, and also has worked in the kitchen of the Vatican !!!!! He uses fresh ingredients when preparing the food and you can tell by the taste !!!!!!!! They also have live music with a female singer who performs but is presently out of town... They do serve wines, not sure about other types of liquor, they also have BYOB available. Complimentary fresh baked bread is served with Olive Oil and Balsamic vinegar. We also order the Bruschetta. It disappeared before I could get a pic of it except a piece for me. We all had a Cesar salad prior to our entree.. The Romaine lettuce was fresh and crisp, the croutons were crunchy, the dressing was not overpowering....Was delicious....The entrees we ordered included, Lasagna, Chicken Marsala, and the Fettuccine Bolognese.... The lasagnas and bolognese plates had just the right amount of sauce, NOT drowning in tomato sauce. The chicken marsala was quite good as were the side vegetables of peas, carrots and some potato. The sauce was excellent, I used the bread for sopping up the leftover sauce. Everyone gave there meals a "2 thumbs up". Definitely planning return visits to this "gem" of a restaurant in far North Dallas to try out other menu items.........They also have carryout and recently changed there dining hours by increasing the hours they are open....
“ Home far from home “
I tried this place yesterday with my family and I can say that we found our new favorite Italian restaurant in Dallas!!
I am Italian and all the food taste just like the food I used to eat in Italy. In Dallas and closed areas there are tons of Italian restaurant that the only thing is Italian is the name they gave to it. But here “ Dal Testardo “ you will find quality not only in the food but also in the serving.
Highly recommended!!!
Delicious! It’s not easy finding decent, let alone authentic Italian food in Dallas- this is it! Dal Testardo has a sweet, simple atmosphere, friendly staff and incredible food. Portions and flavors were perfect. The chef is from Italy and makes dishes the traditional way.
Where should I start? We've now visited this wonderful restaurant twice and found it spectacular. It was recommended as "The best Italian food in Dallas" to which I though, ok, I guess it must be good. Wrong, its GREAT!
OK OK, on with the food review. Night one we ordered the Rigatoni Testardo and OMG it was fantastic. Its Rigatoni topped with an amazing fennel sausage tomato pasta sauce and topped with melted provolone. It gets my favorite dish award as we ordered it again on our second visit. My wife ordered the Salmon Arrosto which was perfectly roasted salmon and veggies. We also asked for a side of Fettuccini Alferedo(her fav) which we later learned is not something they typically make but the chef was able to whip up. Let me tell you, the Alfredo Sauce he made ☆☆☆☆☆.
We finished the night with an order of their homemade Cannoli. Smaller than we expected but again, no disappointment in taste. Simply delicious homemade cream with chocolate chips.
Night two, started with the Caprese di Bufala which is imported fresh Bufala Mozzarella atop Beefsteak Tomato slices, served with the most delicious Prosciutto slices and drizzled with olive oil. The freshness is the star of the show. Layer upon layer of flavor. My daughter is a fan of Fettuccini Alfredo which again, not a menu item but again the chef came through for her. My compliments to the chef, she has found a new favorite restaurant. "This is the best Alfredo in Dallas" were her words and this from a very picky 12 year old. I opted for the Bucatini Amatriciana. This dish is made with Italian Pancetta in another wonderful tomato sauce. Another winning dish. We finished off the night with an amazing Tiramisu that is creamy and delicious.
The pasta across the board, you will instantly find is cooked to perfection unlike most Italian restaurants in Dallas. The sauces, far from anything I've ever found in DFW. The service is warm, inviting and a great family atmosphere.
This has now become one of our favorite restaurants in Dallas and can't wait to visit again.
Alrighty, where do I start? I'm Italian came over to the US when I was 30+. This place reminds me of a genuine Italian trattoria. Italian cousins is about few ingredients and delicate flavors. The chef is also Italian and does a fantastic job at re-creating our cousine. Pasta dishes as well as salads and pizza are very good. Few choices but freshly made is always better than too many items and frozen ingredients often microwaved. I read someone saying might as well do Olive Garden. I was fuming when I read that review. Try to learn to eat proper Italian, and ask the chef what he recommends. That's how we do it. Eat it as it is, don't ask for stuff that isn't Italian because you are putting the chef in a position where he needs to make something not Italian. This place is for who wants the real experience. If you are looking for Alfredo, Spaghetti and meatballs this isn't your place, that isn't Italian. If you like greasy and fat this isn't for you. This is for people who enjoy fresh food with delicate flavors.
Great Italian restaurant in North Dallas. Authentic Italian food and top notch service. Pizza and pasta dishes are all great. BYOB is always fun as well. Sometimes on Wednesday nights they bring in an incredible Italian violinist that performs for everyone during dinner! Perfect for large and small groups.
Amazing place! Food was mouthwatering, service was great and the owners spectacular! Place is byob
I recommend the sausage ravioli 😋
Incredible! A little hard to get to because of construction but so worth it! Food was so good! Sausage ravioli was superb, tiramisu was incredible. One of the best Italian dinners I've ever eaten. Planning on using them to cater my family Christmas eve dinner!
I was driving by this place many times, but G Maps have never shown it to me. People are passionate about Italian food. Atmosphere is created perfectly for you to enjoy your food. My personal favorite is Italian cheesecake. Highly recommend!
We have been searching for an authentic Italian place in Dallas for years that doesn't cost a fortune and finally found it. The fact that it is BYOB makes it fantastic. I was born in Italy and grew up eating real Italian food and this place comes as close as you can get considering they have to use local ingredients. Fresh baked bread on premise is wonderful. We have gone for lunch and stayed all day until dinner time. Can't wait to go back...
