I’ve been eating at Olamendi’s since the mid 1980’s and have never once been disappointed. We take out of town guests there for an experience they won’t forget and great food made from old family recipes. It’s the real thing with the history and the decor and the location all in one spot!

The service was great! All of the staff were nice and friendly. The food was delicious and priced very well for a restaurant that is across the beach with views of the ocean. We had a pitcher of strawberry Margaritas and it was good and refreshing. I highly recommend this restaurant!!! This is now our new favorite Mexican restaurant.

We came here for lunch on our vacation and they were super accommodating to my daughter who has special needs and is in a wheelchair. This has to be our best restaurant experience in 17 years!!! We didn't have to ask for a thing, like bringing a spoon with her meal. I always have to ask, but not here because they were on it. They were super friendly and the food was awesome. We will always come back when we come to town!!!

Loved Olamendis last night with mamma. We got Esmeralda Olamendi as our waitress & the free flan about put us over the edge! Got to chat with pappa Olamendi, he's 71 & in great shape! I highly recommend this fabulous establishment, 44 years of great food & history! All kinds of celebrities have eaten here & I go back to remembering the days when we met Richard Nixon & Henry Kissinger in the same week!!!

I first ate here in 1978. It was the first time I had eaten Chili Rellenos and they were so delicious. I have been telling my husband for years how great this place was. Well my nephew was getting married at Doheny State Beach on 2/13/18 so we all decided to go to Olamendi's Mexican Restaurant on 2/12/18. It was even better than I had hyped it up to be. In 40 years, 50 states, 6 foreign counties I have not found anyone that can compare. I wish they were closer to my home in Arizona as I would eat here at least once a week or more.

The food and drinks were great, the flan was outstanding! The server seemed to be in a bad mood - never smiled, rarely checked to see if we needed anything - but the host/owner at a desk nearby essentially made up for it.

Can't say enough! Beyond great food, salsa, everything home-made, view!! Excellent! This made my #1 list for food in SoCal.

They've been rocking Mexican food my whole life! They've got great vegan options which allows carnivorous and vegan folk to put down their differences and have a tasty meal together! WOO the heck HOO! BTW, the vegan chips are way better than their regular chips IMO! They toast the cheese on top of their burritos and enchiladas that look so dang good. Views and sunsets are awesome and if you need something to do, look up and around.... there is a colorful collection of decorations and pics on the walls and ceiling that should be in the magazine "how to decorate for the busy mind" . Love you Olamendi's!

This restaurant is perfectly located across from the beach and walking distance from the hotels. The staff were kind, knowledgeable, welcoming, and attentive, taking care of all of my needs quickly and efficiently. Giving me the space to eat yet close enough to be available for any needs. The decor was culturally captivating, and the tables were well spaced, clean, and stocked. Now I will say everything is grossly overpriced! The Jamaica Margarita was $18 but lacked the flavor of Hibiscus, very disappointing. I ordered the Carnitas plate, which was $30! For just a serving spoon size of rice, which had ABSOLUTELY no flavor! Completely seasonless it was so light it looked like just white rice. The same spoon size amount of beans that also lacked authentic Mexican flavor. The hand size portion of Carnitas was NOT fried or slow cooked as it should be. It was dry like shredded wheat and had NO seasoning at all! The few pieces that were not dry just tasted like boiled pork. The plate came with your choice of corn or flour tortillas I chose flour and got 3 small hand size tortillas. Also had a choice of soup or salad, I chose the soup of Albondigas (which is my favorite Mexican soup) Unfortunately this is the worst bowl that I've ever had! Like the rest of the food, it lacked Any seasoning I made it edible by adding a bit of salt, pepper, and lime. The food not at all worth the price if you're looking for authentic Mexican flavors, this is NOT the place to get it. But the Ombiance and location is worth visiting.

So I’ll hit Olamendi’s hard and quick. Views and ambiance: excellent. Food and drink: mediocre. Never forget this, you go to Gringo Mex for the Margs…and they fell flat. Not boozy enough and they used a sugary blah mix. The food was just aight but I don’t really care. A boozy drink makes you not think about mediocre food. But if you want to people watch and look at the sea, there’s Olamendi’s!

They never miss here. We stop here every time we come to our time share. Indoor and out door seating. Service is always good. The food is always good. Still family owned after all these years. The Restaurant has authentic decorations. Drinks are good, prices are still reasonable. Parking can be tough depending on the time of day. It's a great experience thank you so much.

Going here is an experience. There is so much to see and great food to enjoy from inside the restaurant. I especially love the salute to Dia de Los Muertos. Outside, there is an occasional train, a walking bridge to get over the train tracks, and the beach and wonderful paths to walk. It's for kids and adults.

I believe the staff tries. But since coming here since the 70's the food has gone downhill. I order my usual, Dona Christina, every time. Wasn't great. Chips were stale, so he heats them up, bad idea, made even worse. They are overcharging for everything including sauce on an already $22.00 burrito Burrito from my guest said it wasn't great, they didn't even want to take home the 1/2 they didn't eat. Think you lost customers. Sorry folks. Wish you the best

Olamendi's was an explosion of beautiful color with every wall brighter than the next and an amazing collection of Mexican and other kinds of art in every available space! The food was super and the waitstaff friendly and competent. Apparently this was former President Nixon's favorite restaurant so there is memorabilia and photos from his visits. I would definitely recommend a visit to add a bit of excitement and great food to your visit to Capistrano, Dana Point, or San Clemente.

This place is so cute. Right across from the ocean! Food is really good! My mom got shredded beef chimi and everyone thought it was the bomb. Vegan friends - there is a separate vegan menu!
