It was a fine meal at Mahé. The sushi was very good to excellent - it was tough to beat the salmon sushi they had at Mahé. The rolls were interesting and I was introduced to aburi salmon sushi that evening. There was plenty of Asahi, plenty of sake and plenty of laughs all evening long. By the end of the evening, we were so stuffed it was tough to make it back up the hill to the hotel. Mahé was a fun and hip place with very good to excellent sushi and a great atmosphere near the harbor in Dana Point.

Not a large sushi spot but a GREAT!!! sushi spot

the service was excellent, the sushi chefs are friendly and engaging - and while they have an AWESOME selection of sushi rolls, they are more than willing to customize something for you if its not on the menu

Started off rough due to 3 hostesses that were not friendly and preoccupied with their own agenda. Servers were great and the food was delicious! Would definitely go back.

Amazing. So good it seems wrong! We had nachos that changed our lives, then rolls that each had their own personality and still all pleased a picky eater!

Staff was great but the food was a little too salty. Still a great place to celebrate a birthday.

Happy hour all day on Mondays is great! Service is on point. Out door seating is shielded from wind and has heaters. It's a solid dining experience, and has live music from time to time as well!

Great staff in the bar area, always friendly. Fantastic happy hour from 4-630 with $5 pints, discounted cocktails and wines and a small but decent sushi selection. Get the Rain Roll and the Jackie Chan Roll. Legit.

Always a great place to hang out and if memory serves the happy hour sushi menu is all night on Monday so get it. Problem is the beer and brew for $14 next door at Jimmy's is also on Mondays! You two places need to get together and do one Monday and one another night; better for customers and your business I would think.

Great stop for quick sushi with the kids. We sat at the sushi bar and the chef made some cool little things out of oranges and cucumbers to amuse the kids. Sushi was good but not great. I'd come back for the location and friendly service... The food was a 4/5.

We loved it! The food was absolutely delicious! Yummy sushi, fresh, tasty fish. There was no wait. We might have gotten lucky on that one :) Ambient atmosphere, pleasant outside seating. This is one of my favorite spots in SoCal so far.

Great food, great show, great price My impression is that the restaurant is known more for its sushi and traditional service, as there are only 2 of the ‘family seating’ style cooking tables, which is where we ate. Our chef was very entertaining and very good. While I’ve seen most of the ‘tricks’ (flaming onion volcano, shrimp tails tossed into the air and caught on the chef’s hat, etc.), our guy made them fun. As with most of these meals I’ve had, the chef is very quick, and certainly the food arrives on your plate very hot. Soup was good, nothing special, but certainly not a detraction. We did take advantage of their ‘early bird’ seating for dinner, and we were very impressed with both the quality and the quantity of our entrees. Very highly recommended!

Came here for Valentine's Day. I made reservations just to be safe, but it wasn't over-crowded at all. We were seated right away, outside. They had heaters at all the tables so, even though it was a cold night, we were nice and toasty. The server was great. I had Nate's Baseball Cut Filet which was delicious as always. My wife had a couple sushi rolls and we shared the Creme Brule. I definitely recommend! Their sushi, in my opinion is good but not great. Or more specifically, sometimes it's really good but other times, like last night, it's just ok. If you want great sushi in Dana Point I suggest Dana Kai or Zen Sushi.

Had dinner with my wife. Interesting menu, combination of surf and turf and sushi, Japanese, fusion. We had a variety. Sushi very good. Grilled artichoke appetizer was fun. Our seared ahi over Udon noodles, and salmon entrees were very good. Nice ambience near the marina. Good service.

My wife and i always love going here. The happy hour has 5 dollar wells and rolls. The mai tais are epic and the sushi is really good. The bar tenders take real good care of you when you sit at the rail. Also the live music adds a layer of wow. Love this place. Ps the rest of the menu also rocks

Nice little place with some good happy hour deals. The service is great, it never gets too crowded, and it's so close to Dana Point Harbor that you just need to cross the street and you're there. I recommend the chicken sandwich or something from the sushi bar. I do have one small complaint- I have been here a few times and each time have ordered their shishito peppers appetizers, which were amazing the first few times until they changed the recipe. So instead of airy and crunchy peppers with a side of dipping sauce, they're now prepared in the dipping sauce and are just a soggy and saucy mess. Bummer! I recommend bringing back the other ones! Unfortunately, that was a big drawing point to visiting so I havent been back yet.
