I convinced my wife into checking this place out as something new for our anniversary. Both of us were very impressed. This Chuck's took over an older catering hall, so there was at least one wedding reception going on during our Saturday evening. However, the restaurant section was well staffed and was able to keep up with a busy turnover in patrons.
The menu features both Bar-be-que and New Orleans style foods, plus occasional forays in Tex-Mex, and is open early for breakfast. I tried out their special of "burnt ends" chopped and served in a sandwich, and they were very tender and meaty, and no doubt fatty enough to be an infrequent indulgence. Then again, I also indulged myself in the sides of fries and macaroni and cheese. Did not find the M&C that interssting, as the cheese seemed to be of the processed cheese sauce style, but that's the only drawback I found.
Chuck's has an extensive bar menu, and a good selection of craft beers with an emphasis on local brewers. Even with that in mind, I tried a pale ale from a new Mexican brewer just because I'd never heard of it before, and it was a tap special.
Chuck's is one of those places we'll want to return to to try their other dishes, or wait for one of their holiday buffets. We got away with a $44 check for two people.
Love this place! My husband and I go to Chuck's at least a few times a month for dinner, and we're super picky about our BBQ. Their North Carolina sauce is amazing, and their meats are so tender. Everything is really well-seasoned and ingredients taste fresh, particularly produce in the salads. We've only made it there once for brunch since it ends at 11am and we're late risers on weekends, but that was also delicious. Staff has always been friendly and accommodating, and the atmosphere is laid back and clean. Huge beer menu and tons of TVs/seating for gamedays. Overall, one of my favorite places to eat. I prefer the Darien location to the one in Chicago, which has the same menu but a less inviting atmosphere. My only complaint is that they're not open til 2pm for brunch on the weekends as is standard.
Went here for a late lunch and sat at the bar. I’ve previously had their BBQ at a wedding and in their banquet hall for a retirement party. All of the BBQ was good and I especially love their Mac and Cheese. So this visit I tried 3 new things. My favorite was the cream of poblano soup, loved this stuff! Great consistency and flavor! The other 2 things were the Cajun Cakes and some wings. The Cajun Cakes were delicious! The wings had a great size and I dipped them in a couple of sauces with their spicy BBQ being my favorite (the Carolina one was not as mustard like which I prefer for Carolina sauces). Bartender and staff were all very nice! We will certainly be back!
First time trying this place after living in the area all my life. It was so delicious I can’t wait to go back!
Ribs, pulled pork, chicken, bbq sauce, Cajun fries, bread, boudin balls, server were all amazing!
If I could give service more than 5 stars, I totally would! My best friend and I decided to give this BBQ joint a try after hearing great things about it. Our server Jenna went above and beyond our expectations. She recommended us to try the nacho appetizer and it was a real winner. I had chicken fingers and my dear friend had a burger. Both meals were very tasty and were well complimented by the ice cream we had for dessert. I also really appreciated the busboy, Anthony, for clearing our dishes quickly and ensuring we had a clean table throughout our visit. All of the servers here are incredibly friendly and helpful; truly put the “comfort” in southern comfort foods. Would definitely come back again!
Omg Chucks!!! If you’ve never been here this is a MUST experience! With a NOLA/Southern theme the dishes are soooo delicious!! Chuck really knows how to splurge us! Each dish is fantastic in its own right! From breakfast to dinner, everything is exceptional!
The service was excellent, and I love my drink. Now to the food. 2 people in my party arrived about 20 mins before we did. They ordered ribtips and fried chicken. Now the fried chicken looked over cook or it was old fried chicken that was put back in the grease. I am not sure which, but just looking at it, I did not want to try any. I had the brisket fries, and my boyfriend has the 3 meat plate. The brisket is soooo goood!!!! Nice and tender, full of favor. The baked beans were excellent. I wish I had ordered my brisket fries with no BBQ sauces. I am not a big fan of sweet BBQ sauces, and Chuck's sauces are too sweet for me. We will be returning for the brisket and pulled pork.
Wow. Just wow. This was the most beautiful rack of ribs I have ever had in my life. Huge, saucy, delicious ribs which took me four meals to eat. Plus the tater and some excellent Mac n cheese. The meal was VERY moderately priced for all the quality food we received. My wife had the blackened catfish which she said was very spicy and tasty. We went here because we always try to visit Triple D locations when we can - this place did not disappoint and we will return next time we are in the Chicagoland area to try more of the excellent BBQ.
Chuck's is one of my favorite restaurants. I like everything about this place. The food is excellent. It is Cajun and Pub style, and it is done to perfection. The atmosphere is great, and the servers are always upbeat and happy to greet you. You will not be disappointed.
Their breakfast is terrific, served only on Saturday and Sunday.
Great food and dining experience. Staff was friendly and helpful and the environment is clean and spacious. The food was prepared well and had great flavors. They definitely put some love into it.
Chuck's Southern Comfort BBQ is a welcome place for family style barbecue. The restaurant is attached to a "manor" which has events and rental space for parties and such, So the establishment may not look like a BBQ joint but it is... Step inside and the bar with 31 beers on tap invites you to have a seat and relax with there staff, friends or screens streaming local sporting events. The service come fast and with a smile. We tried a the pulled pork nachos and their arancini "rice meatballs." Both appetizers are big enough to share and generous with the meats. We tried the Choose 3 combo of 1/4 chicken, brisket and ribs. All meats came tender, however the chicken stole the show with the juicy delicious tater in every bite... Without the sauce. North Carolina mixed with Honey Chipotle was our favorite. I can't say much more other than bring the kiddos to Chuck's, they have a great children's menu and comfortable booths for families to gather.
I normally would give this place a 5 star rating, but lately every time we gone this year it seems like the service and food quality has been lacking.
Apparently we have to ask for bread now, which is fine... except what if we've never been there before and didn't know they had bread (bread should be offered to us then). The foods is just okay now, I'm not sure what's going on, if they're trying to save money on labor and/or lazier cooking. But there is a noticeable difference. Since chucks isn't very close to us, we go here for a great treat for our family, but doesn't seem like it's worth the drive right now :(. We'll definitely come back again, just not as often.
Also, service got slow too. The server checks up on us less frequently, last time it took about 10-15min to get our check, crazy since the server gave us a box to pack up our food and knew we were done. She took so long that she forgot she gave us one, and gave us another one haha. We didn't want to wait any more, so we got up and started walking out and looked for the server and we paid while standing in the walkway.
My husband & I had the rib tip dinner and pulled pork dinner. The Cajun green beans side was my favorite. My husband loved his baked beans. There is a variety of sauces, but my NEW fave is the Korean BBQ sauce. Zingy with a bit of heat. Great waitress. I had enough pork left for another meal. Southern comfort yumminess.
Went back again this morning. Sit in the bar Amber is the best and makes an outstanding spicy bloody with a side car. Followed by a fantastic breakfast. This is a a must stop if you are near Darien. Only Saturday and Sunday for brunch - breakfast
We had the smokehouse burger for lunch with Mac and cheese and cole slaw. The food was phenomenal as always. I've basically gone through the entire menu and I've never been disappointed. The jambalaya is my absolute favorite. The gumbo is amazing. Everything there is cooked to perfection.
Great breakfast. Great lunch great dinner selections! The Saturday night special- the cochinito.... mouth watering. March 2023.
Chuck's is a place that has great food. Serving breakfast on Saturday and Sunday only, lunch and dinner on Tuesday - Sunday, they combined three of The very best cuisines Mexican, Cajun and BBQ. The portions are big enough for two people. The bar also has a great beer selection and plenty of TV'S to watch your favorite team play the sport.
They also have a section with a few slot machines, just in case you want to try your luck in gambling.
If your looking to have a big private party, they have you covered there as well with their banquet facilities and plenty of parking in front and back.
