One of the best breakfast places for the price. I have tried most of their breakfast items and have never been disappointed. Their biscuits and sausage gravy is better than Bob Evans (I think at least). I am having lunch for the first time and their burgers and onion rings are similar to Friches but taste much better.
Saturday night dinner Fried chicken 4 good sized fried chicken with crispy hot french fries with side salad with house dressing I love this basic vinegar based dressing ...Standard diner fair ..Service was outstanding attentive waitress .. coffee was hot and fresh for the bottomless coffee cup. Always a good thing for me ... Nothing fancy but always good the inexpensive price and basic good food made it a nice meal
This particular place has an enormous amount of character. I think that the decor as well as the service staff take you back down memory lane. The food was inexpensive and most of the dishes were very tasty. I ordered scrambled eggs with cheese, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, bacon, and coffee. The water tasted funny, It is not very often that cups of water have a taste, so buyer beware. The pancakes worried me at first glance but after two butter pats and a heavy dose of syrup they were extremely delicious. The biscuits were buttery and flaky, however the gravy that the biscuits were covered in were a nightmare. It was not lumpy, but the gravy was dense and it lacked flavor although there was pepper and sausage visible in the gravy. The toast my aunt ordered looked good. She ordered sunny side up eggs with sausage. Our waitress was friendly. The overall service was efficient. I think that this restaurant is better than Denny's but it still lags behind The Golden Nugget in so far as taste and quality.
Awesome!. Hasty Tasty was recommended to me by a Dayton local, so I went there with my friend. The waitress was very nice, the food was delicious, excellent portion sizes, all for a very fair price. Yes, the inside of the restaurant is dated, but that adds to the charm of the place, if you ask me!
C'mon lighten up! This place is authentic genuine American diner. Real folks, real America. This is what we used to be,civilized. You bet it's a greasy spoon but it's a proud greasy spoon. These folks care about what they do and how they do it. They remember you after 1 visit. They say tators instead of potatoes. I love Hasty Tasty as much for what is is as for the food.
Voegli. Great breakfasts at a reasonable price...
Hasty Tasty is a great place for a family breakfast. You won't break the bank and everyone will leave full. Sure the food isn't the best stuff ever. The staff, price, and nostalgia make up for it tho. I give Hasty Tasty a B
Nostalgia at its best. My grandparents used to take my mother and her sisters to Hasty Tasty when they were little, and my cousins and I all have various memories (some hung-over, some just hungry and poor, and some with our moms!) of eating there while we still lived in Dayton. I loved going for breakfast during and after college--waitresses were always friendly and got my order right, and whenever I went for dinner I saved room for some pie. Delicious pie. I'm really glad Ohio went smoke-free, because the roughest part of going there was enduring the cloud at the door to get to the non-smoking section.
The following quote when I asked for real half and half says it all: "This ain't no fancy place honey, this is the Hasty Tasty!" The waitress was very friendly and even eager to take care of our party of 9. Despite other reviewers' complaints this place is clean. Old fashioned yes, but not dirty. Food. What can you do with a pancake? Good, solid breakfast vittles. Sausage links were good, bacon better, biscuits and gravy could have used more sausage. I would definitely go again, and take the kids.
Old school greasy spoon with lots of charm. The pancakes were good, but not your usual fluffy pancake house cakes; they were thinner and more dense - like the Bisquick ones my mom used to make every Sunday. The atmosphere was kitch and semi-frozen in time, and the staff was friendly and accomodating. When I asked for hot sauce for my home fries the server brought me some packets of a jalepeno taco-like sauce. It was fine, but she mentioned that most of their regulars don't like it, so they bring in their own sauce which is then kept behind the counter for them to use when they come in. It's personal touches like this that make Hasty Tasty stand out.
Relax, I might, say, in good company. It’s immediately attractive how low-key the place is. You get a sense you’re surrounded by people of all kinds, and the assortment of “regulars” seem to be friendly, relaxed, and local.
Ah, the Hasty Tasty - a true Gem City landmark. Whether it's a hungover, no-eye-contact breakfast or an early bird dinner, the Hasty has been satisfying Dayton's craving for home cookin' for over 58 years. Serving homemade everything (including pies) and
