Been eating at BBG my entire life every time I come back to Decatur to visit family. Learned a few years back that Bob Gibson was my great uncle as he was married to the sister of my great grandmother. Family relation or not, a trip to Gibson’s is a MUST when I’m in Decatur. The potatoes are to die for, the combo platter plates never fail to render me immobile because I am stuffed. And I haven’t met a slice of pie there that I didn’t love although coconut is my fave! Was just there yesterday and everything from the meat to the Mac and cheese to the beans to the potato salad was divine. Our service is always top notch. I like to take pictures to show my northern friends and they drool! There is nothing like BBG!!!

Perfect white sauce. The pulled pork is to die for. Highly recommend eating this every day, if you can. I live in Illinois so I can’t.

This is the very best bbq, especially my favorite, chicken with white sauce. The staff is gracious and friendly. I have loved it since I was a child. When I go back to Maryland I always have a nice stash to freeze for the future (if it makes it that long). If the line is too long just go down the street to Whitt's - it's a close second.

Love this place, definitely in my top 5 Bbq places in the country. Brisket was a little tough but the ribs and turkey made up for it... peanut butter pie is still amazing!

I loved it! Great service and food! Most in particular though, was the way the staff handled this little elderly woman. I was in there at about 10:00am and everyone was dealing with what looked like a BIG to go/catering order. Now I don’t know who Margret is, she is one of the staff members, but this lady kept yelling for her about everything from the bus not being there yet to the crackers that were missing from her food. Now she wasn’t yelling in a mean or hateful way, more of a just getting Margrets attention. Margret always answered her no matter where she was in the restaurant all while doing her work duties. There was also this older gentleman with gray hair that would also help her when Margret wasn’t available to do herself. He even helped her out to the bus once it arrived. It was wonderful to see how this staff helped this woman and never complained or acted like it was a burden to anyone of them. She and Margret may or may not have some kind of family connection, but either this lady seemed like family to the people who were there. Awesome job guys!!!

As a legendary BBQ spot and the inventor of Alabama white sauce, I had to try this place. It's very gritty and original, and a very lively spot. Lots of local folks enjoying the food when we stopped in. The food was pretty good, and definitely worth trying once. You HAVE to try the chicken with the white sauce, and the ribs were really good. The sides and the sweet tea were OK. The potato salad was pretty standard and the slaw was very strange.

We love big Bob Gibson and Chris Lilly. The food was pretty good, although the slaw I just do not understand. I will say that if you look at the pictures posted I don't believe that Chris Lilly and the family would be happy about the cleanliness of this restaurant. Honestly, I just expect more out of such a high caliber Family and pit masters.

LOVED the BBQ. Their brisket is the best that I have ever tasted. The sides were really good, loved the baked beans. Ribs were amazing, we could barely finish our food. The portion size were pretty big. We stumbled upon this gem on a road trip back from New Orleans and si happy we found it.

So so delicious!! The sauce, the food, the service, the atmosphere was so awesome. We loved the bbq chicken, the massive potatoes and the coconut cream pie. The white sauce was so good. We had to order some when we got home.

I got to Big Bobs early and grabbed a combo plate of ribs and chicken (dark) with coleslaw and Mac and cheese. I’ve got say that was the best BBQ chicken I’ve had in a while. The ribs were very good as well but the chicken was 🔥🔥🔥 I also got to try their pecan pie and that first bite brought a smile to my face 😌 very good! Would definitely comeback when in Decatur

so good! We had pulled pork, brisket, turkey, wings and sides and it was all so good. Add on the sauces and a chocolate pie to go and it's a winner for sure!!
