Wakaba has the best spicy tuna and shrimp tempura rolls! They are tucked into a corner of a strip mall and have been there for years, but the quality is superb. The tuna basically melts in your mouth, they have an awesome spicy Mayo, and the owners/workers are super nice always!

It’s pretty good. Most of the rolls seem to have the seaweed on the outside and we prefer rolls with rice on the outside so that’s an us thing. The miso soup is some of the best around I’d say.

Was unsure of how good this would be (strip mall restaurants aren’t always great)…but truly such a great experience. It was a bit quiet inside, but we made ourselves at home and decided to try. The food was really good - we got sushi, tempura, and teriyaki chicken. I got the Oyako Udon and it was great. Highly recommend.

Wakaba was the first restaurant I ever ate sushi at - that was about 20 years ago. To this day, it remains my favorite. I highly recommend the spicy combo! So much sushi for a great price. Lake Michigan is probably my favorite roll there, but their spicy tuna is the best I’ve ever had! Also, the owners are such nice people! Highly recommend!

Was here for a company lunch. The service for our employees was very good and the value considering price and taste was good as well. I enjoyed the tempura box lunch special.

It is a little place. It could be nicer inside. The bathrooms are outdated. Like 1980 style. But the food was awesome. My daughter ate it faster than Scooby-Doo could. Lol. I highly recommend this place.

A lot of the reviews here seem so fake its disgusting how some people can lie and try to destroy a family business. Ive been coming here since the owners owned this place and I've never had a bad experience. These fictious reviews about finding things in their food are all lies. If I found bugs or hair in my food, there would be pictures to back it up. The people who made those comments are all literally at the same time. Someone asked all her horrid air wasting friends to leave the same review. The sushi here is authentic and not the white washed bs that people try to pass as sushi. The service is always on point. The staff is constantly asking and attending to your needs. I don't have a favorite. Everything is my favorite from the sushi sashimi to the hot foods.

Great sushi at a reasonable price. Fast service and friendly people. I don't know if they have dine-in service yet, there is a plastic "entryway" right inside the front door, so you might want to call first if you want to eat in the restaurant.

Best sushi around town! I’ve had sushi at many places and have been coming here for over 20 years. Their spicy tuna is the best I’ve ever had! I also recommend the crunchy roll! The owners are very nice and the husband makes the sushi at the bar. He is amazing! Come here!

This is one of my favorite sushi spots! The tempura ubon noodle is the best I ever had. The owners are so nice and welcoming. Very tranquil atmosphere and soothing to wind down after a long week or to grab a quick lunch during the week.

Family owned restaurant - the owners are always running the front end + sushi bar every day and you can always expect great service and food. Prices are reasonable and I'm glad their business was able to survive covid as I love this place!

I had a great experience there. I had heard years ago from a friend I worked with in Lake Forest that she went all the way down to Deerfield for this place and I never got down there. Went for my birthday yesterday (and am going back today) because I liked it so much. I'm not needing huge frills restaurant. It was clean and well lit, the staff was friendly and cheerful and attentive. The sushi chef was friendly as well. I went with the house special (i mean how can you not) and it was beautiful and delicious. The warm Edamame and the tempura are great. We went for lunch and it was the price you pay just about anywhere for sushi in the Chicago suburbs. I don't usually go for "value" when I go sushi. You go where the chef is amazing, and the fish is fresh. They were both. High recommendations.

I've been going here for years and would highly recommend this sushi spot. It's the only sushi restaurant I consistently crave (love the spicy tuna rolls)! Food is delicious and staff is so welcoming.

I'm a fan, they always have fresh fish and the owners are super super polite and friendly. I've been coming a lot lately and I've got zero complaints. The lake Michigan roll is my favorite I think.

This is a great sushi place we've been going to for over 15 years. We hadn’t been there for a while, so we went last Saturday night to see if things had changed. The seating, the service, the ambiance and, especially, the food, was just as we remembered. We had the best meal. We started off with salad and miso soup which was delicious as ever. There is nothing like Gyo Za and Wakaba’s is among the best. So, we had to have that next. It was exceptionally good. Our server was attentive and brought it to our table while it was still very hot from the pan. It doesn’t get any better. Our main course consisted of the Sushi and Sashimi Combination Plate along with four rolls: Salmon, Ebi Tempura, Dragon and House Special. Everything was out of this world. The fish was extremely fresh and very tasty. Each roll was really good. We couldn’t decide on a favorite. When the bill came, I was reminded that Wakaba is still one of the best sushi values for the money.
