Review Papa Nick - Denison

We went to Papa Nick last night and were lucky to have Ado as our server! We made reservations through Facebook messenger, so we did not have to wait, although there appeared to be plenty of seating. Our table was next to huge windows overlooking a beautiful grassy hill. Ado took our drink and appetizer orders and brought our bread, and he warned us that service might be a little slower due to them just opening and working out issues. He also told us that everything, including the bread and sauces, were made in-house. We had bruschetta first. The bread on it was a little thickly cut, but it was homemade and delicious. I ordered the Papa’s Pasta, and my husband ordered the filet. We both had salads. My pasta was great - you choose your noodles (I chose penne, per Ado’s recommendation), and it came with red sauce, chicken, and garlic bread. The steak was high quality beef cooked to a perfect medium rare. We didn’t stay for dessert this time, but we are looking forward to coming back soon and trying them!

An upscale location for family events. Steak and lobster were great and the wait staff were really attentive. Atmosphere is great!

Very delicious. Attentive wait staff. Beautiful scenery. Would never know how beautiful inside from its location. Menu could use a few adjustments but I wasn't disappointed.

The good: The service was great! Margaret, our server, was awesome! Manuel, the host, was extremely helpful and friendly while setting up the reservation for our group. The restaurant is very clean and appears to be recently renovated. The prices were very reasonable. The Calamari is out of this world. I have never had calamari with so much flavor. We all ordered steaks & all except for one was overcooked and dry. The rest of the food was good. After reading multiple reviews regarding the overcooking of the steaks, if management pays attention to customers, they would make changes in the kitchen.

Love this restaurant. My husband and I have eaten all over the world and this restaurant is much nicer than many we have been to. The atmosphere is fabulous. Very upscale which we love but with a homey feeling as well. The food has always been delicious. Although I did find it a bit too salty. Don’t forget you can always add but can’t take away. Also I had a problem with one of the dishes and they were so apologetic with the owner/chef serving me a new plate and apologizing. We truly love this restaurant and hope it stays for many years. The staff is superb!! It truly is all about the customer. *****

Prime rib very good, enjoyed fried mushrooms and fried green tomatoes. Our waitress was splendid. Relaxing "backyard" view through large windows. Decor - bare. Everything was tasty but wish they had a larger selection of sides with items such as squash or broccoli/rice casseroles, black eyed peas, etc. Entire staff was very friendly. Wife and I enjoyed a relaxed meal and will return.

This is the second visit to Papa Nick’s and we have been disappointed both times. The service was great but the food is very inconsistent. Two of our party were satisfied with their meals but the other two had steaks that were both over cooked and undercooked. In addition, the steaks and vegetables are under seasoned. How hard can it be to at least add salt. We had the same experience both times. I really want this restaurant to succeed but the need to do better. You can get a much better steak at Texas Roadhouse for much less.

Papa Nick is a great restaurant which I hope has the opportunity to open when all of the pandemic has been resolved. It is a gem for Sherman who until Papa Nick opened had no restaurant of this class. The food was fantastic with some of the best and generous cuts of steak. Their ribeye cut was phenomenal. I look forward to seeing them soon!
