We were in from Los Angeles, and it's true, people here are horrified by guns, and meat, and dead animals. They are dumb. Buckhorn is one of my fave dining experiences ever. I had the elk & buffalo special and they were melty and delicious. All the sides were better than fancy restaurants that charge three times the price! This place has been around 125 years and here's to another 125!!!

Our 50th anniversary celebration was great, mainly because of the special service from our waitress, Tangie. The food was all we expected it to be. Great place for a special celebration. The manager, Renell Johnson, helped with selecting the perfect table and making the reservation. Thanks to everypne for making it so special. Pat and Wally

Went here for a bison steak and my expectations were blown out of the water! We waited an hour for our table but the drinks and live music made the time go by fast. After the excellent service provided by Tangie I would Have waited two hours. After tasting the shrimp chowder and navy beans and ham soup I wouldn’t have minded waiting three hours. Now when my bison steak got there, it really hit it out of the park for me. Do yourself a favor and go here. I’ll definitely be back every time I’m in Denver.

This was my first time at The Buckhorn Exchange...I knew of it but had never stopped in previous trips to Denver. The decor is awesome and I would certainly call it unique compared to any other restaurant I have been to. The servers are exceptional, helpful and extremely knowledgeable of the menu and history of the establishment. I had the elk and ostrich combo and both proteins were excellent. The bean soup is simple but delicious and memorable. If you have thought about checking this place out...stop thinking about it and go šŸ™‚

Recommended by a local tour guide, I can see why, this place is inviting & the wait staff friendly& attentive, sharing stories & information on the restaurants history. I had the Buffalo (blackened & my favourite) & Elk combo, coffee was excellent too. Easy to get to from Union Station. Great last night in Denver.

Great place to see when you're in denver. I got the Rocky Mountain Oysters, for bull testicles they tasted pretty good. Also got Buffalo and Elk. It was amazing. Great tasting meats. Full with flavor. Also, the apple pie was delicious. We chose to sit upstairs, and I found that to be a better area to sit at.

The eye candy is everywhere. The meat candy is brought to your table to feast on while your eyes feast on all the historical stuff there is to see there. We got the Blackened Buffalo Prime Rib and it was so tender we could cut it with a fork. Really top notch. Our waitress Stephanie was absolutely amazing. Great tableside manner and a real delight to visit with. Great service. Great food. Great fun.

There aren't many places you can eat elk and Buffalo while looking at Teddy Roosevelt's original rough rider flag or Wild Bill's signature. I'm so glad we were able to experience this one-of-a-kind resteraunt! The food was delicious, the service was attentive without being intrusive, and the atmosphere was pure Colorado. Don't miss the chance to eat at this historic restaurant.

Meat and mashed were very good. Veggies are not their strong side. Very enjoyable meal, but quite basic and felt like it was not worth the price. The atmosphere was great, the service was nice, sometimes little overbearing and less classy than you might think, but you can tell they tried.

My husband and I have been wanting to try the Buckhorn for quite a while and finally decided to make a date night of it. The surroundings are really neat (although if you have an issue with taxidermy, I'd steer clear, ha ha). I loved the ambiance of the top floor, including the jackalopes, and the service was excellent! I ordered the quail because I had never had quail, and it was delicious (although I could have used more of the prickly pear and apricot glaze - yum!). It was perfectly medium rare, and tasted like a cross between a duck breast and a Cornish game hen. I would recommend getting the baked beans as your side - they make them in-house and they have some of their ground meat in there. Really delicious. As stated earlier, the service was top notch. Our server knew exactly what was gluten free and had no problem making suggestions, so that was very appreciated! Overall, a great experience! We'll be back!

Tried Rocky Mountain Oysters from the oldest restaurant in the Greater Denver area. It was an experience but didn't like the taste of the food much. The server was friendly and we had good conversations. Overall its a must visif once if you are in the Denver area. Been there, done that

While Staying at the the Oldest Denver Hotel, The Oxford, I Decided to Enjoy the Oldest Denver Restaurant - The Buckhorn Exchange. Excellent Food Perfect, Attentive Service Not Simply a Restaurant yet a ā€œMuseumā€ in which One could spend Hours Exploring!!!!!!! We sat at The Bar for a few Drinks and ultimately decided to remain at The Bar to Dine. The Bartender Patrick was FantasticL!!! I ordered The Blackened Prime Rib (Cooked to Perfection) with Garlic Mashed Potato’s and a Chef Salad. My Favorite Nephew Ordered BBQ Ribs and Garlic Mashed Potato’s. Everything was Great… We Most Definitely will be Returning!!!

This has been one of my favorite restaurants to go to. The Bison steaks are cooked to perfection, beautifully seasoned, and melt in your mouth. The staff are extremely nice and helpful while the atmosphere goes above and beyond. Very wonderful place to go for a nice dinner with family or a romantic evening.

Outstanding food at this one-of-a-kind restaurant. A lot of history in this building. You won’t get tired of the scenery. I went all out and the food was so good, I forgot to take pictures of it!! Will be back again!

This place was a very unique experience, with more taxidermy animals than I've ever seen! Historic place!Really good steak and Rocky Mountain oysters!

WOW! This is a great slice of ā€˜Americana’ and a trip back in time. First opened in 1893 and little has changed - part restaurant and part museum! We had the elk and local lamb chops - all cooked perfectly. Our server (Nadia) was great let us take our time to absorb all of the magnificent surroundings. Like the German made white oak bar first built in Germany in 1857 and installed here when it opened. If you are in the Denver area - put this on the ā€˜must do’ list- you won’t regret it!

This is kind of outside of town but is really neat. It is the oldest restaurant in Denver and goes hard into the Wild West history. Don’t take a vegetarian or vegan here. There’s guns and taxidermy everywhere and it’s amazing to behold. Food was okay but the atmosphere made up for it. My $60 cut of beef was lacking but there was plenty of other tasty stuff. I didn’t leave hungry. Come and grab an app and sit at the bar up top. Skip the dinner. They have Rocky Mountain oysters if that’s your thing (i didn’t go near them)

A friend flew in from St. Petersburg, at the top of his to-do list, was eat at the Buckhorn. I have been a patron of this place for many years, and I love taking visitors here. Always a wonderful experience. There is nothing like the food, drinks, service, and historical atmosphere of the Buckhorn. Over the years, I have had everything on the menu and enjoyed it all. Absolutely no complaints. There is an RTD train stop there, so a ride on the train makes it easily accessible and no worries with parking.

I came here over 30 years ago. Now coming back to Denver tried to find this place and did thank God we found it! Great history wonderful stories. Yes it’s a little over the top with all the stuffed animals but such a cool, rich history. The food was really really good. I love the wild game types of meats. The mountain oysters honestly, if I didn’t tell you, you would not know what they were. Tasted like chicken. As they say. Ha ha. But very tasty. very flavorful. The buffalo steak very delicious cooked perfectly as well as our qual. Char flavor was spot on. Salad was good along with the services. Love the atmosphere. If you’re in the area. Definitely stop by this place and check it out.
