Incredible hidden gem local Italian place that has food that tastes like it was made in Italy. Some of the best Italian in Denver and CO and maybe the whole west region of the USA. Wow. I can't wait to go back and try the pizza and seafood. The short ribs ravioli and their red sauce deserve a special shoutout.
If there was an option for 4.5 that’s what I’d give it:
Pros:
+Location and atmosphere
+Service
+Taste of food- really good veggie lasagna, gnocci, tagliatelle special, etc.
Excellent tiramisu dessert
Cons:
-Timing was off with main course- was delivered while apps had just been brought to the table.
-Cold food- The veggie lasagna, while delicious, was cold in spots which detracted from the enjoyment. Same with one of the other dishes. Too bad because the flavor was spot on.
-expensive for some portions- like the garlic bread side was nothing special for the price of it.
The flat iron steak was delicious as well as the caesar salad. I had the crostini as an appetizer and it was good as well, I would've preferred the brussel sprouts been more sauteed and the crostini more toasted. The creme Brule was excellent. The waiter was very attentive and personable.
Locanda Del Borgo in Denver is a true treasure that brings the rich flavors of Italy to the heart of the city. From the moment I entered this charming eatery, I was transported to the picturesque streets of Italy, where passion for food and warm hospitality reign supreme.
The ambiance at Locanda Del Borgo is inviting and romantic, with an intimate setting that is perfect for a special date night or a memorable gathering with loved ones. The soft lighting and elegant decor create an atmosphere that encourages you to linger and savor every moment.
Now, let's talk about the true highlight - the food. Locanda Del Borgo's menu is a delightful exploration of authentic Italian cuisine, lovingly prepared by skilled chefs who take pride in showcasing the true essence of Italy's regional specialties.
Absolutely amazing food and service!
Food is difficult to choose what to eat because it all seems pretty great. Good options, but not a expansive list that you need to spend 20 minutes deciding on. Server was attentive and friendly but didn't hover. Food came out quickly. The burrata was tasty. The other reviews for this place are strange after having actually gone here lol.
Full of financially-secure locals because visitors can’t find it. Definitely recommend reservations. Food is quite good, but on the pricier side. Service is always strong, and the ambiance is warm and classy.
Super nice with quality Italian food. Eggplant parm, risotto, and super creamy tiramisu
Neighborhood Italian restaurant for the Hilltop set with indoor and patio seating, we had a corner table for 7 of us and could amazing hear each other without shouting. Food was classic Italian with good sized portions. Well executed but nothing novel, but also nothing below average.
Lovely Meal!
The service was wonderful! We ordered a ton of food and everything was really good! I am excited to come here again!
This may have been one of the best meals I have ever had! The gnocchi was something I will dream about. Our server was great and did not try to sell us on his favorites - simply told us what the most popular dishes were - and kept our wine glasses full. Highly recommend.
Love the relaxed neighborhood spot. Great pizza and salads. Great price point for cocktails and wine.
Bad feeling after tonight’s visit! Not that important because I’ve enjoyed this restaurant for two decades .
I’m in my sixties and I have written about four reviews in my life . I very rarely have issues with restaurants, and if there is something not quite right , I always address it graciously with the employees or , manager which is rarely necessary.
We often dine at a table here, but very comfortable, if alone , to eat at the bar My bartender tonight has always been very good, but I’ve never had an issue.
However, tonight I ordered a simple dinner with asked for side dish of penne with butter to go for my young nephew, for which I was charged $16 . When it arrived, it was an extraordinarily small serving for plain pasta with butter. ( small even for a “side”)
I reasonably assumed that for $16 there would be a moderately decent portion of completely plain
Pasta with a little butter. We’ve gotten a side of pasta with marinara here, that was less expensive and portion
At least twice has as generous, and I reasonably assumed that simple pasta with butter sauce for $16 would be the Same portion size. Laconda has no Children’s menu.
When the pasta arrived, I asked the bartender if this very , very small portion of plain buttered pasta was truly $16. The people next to me couldn’t believe it either!
Instead of trying to even pretend to care that something was weird , the usually good bartender responded, “You knew when you ordered that this was a side dish and the menu
Said it is $16.”
Okay, but any reasonable person would assume that a $16 side of plain pasta would be considerably larger than this, which was far smaller than any other restaurant’s Kids pasta. I considered for one minute ordering a second $16 order of plain pasta to supplement this to supplement this meager portion but the idea of $32 for plain penne noodles was ridiculous !
The response and attitude were not appropriate, in my opinion, and i
Didn’t feel like pushing this with an owner or manager.
Instead I left the bartender a very generous tip based on her past service….. but I left with a bad taste in my mouth. Kind of nickel and diming .
My tab was $81 plus over 30% tip
for one person, with one glass of wine.
STill going to return because food is very good, but….I’m
Long winded for a reason
After an incredible weekend of restaurants and exceptional service I thought the bar had been set for an amazing experience.
I was wrong.
The food was absolutely incredible and the service (specifically that of Sara) was nothing short of life changing. The entire experience, from the perfectly cooked pasta to the delectable wine and spirits selection made a short weekend in Denver all that we could have hoped for.
We know that reviews can matter, and I often don't write reviews, but this is an intentional exception. You want a good time?
- Book a reservation
- Ask for Sara
- Order a glass of wine and participate in a night to remember.
Wow! Food was incredible!!! The sauce on the lasagna was truly magical, the flavors dance around on your taste buds to create a unique experience. Service was nop notch and the prices are not bad considering the quality and high level of service.
Took our monthly Girl's Night Out here for the Italian food, and it did not disappoint. Food was excellent, wait staff was phenomenal for a party of 9. I'll definitely return!
