Not so often I walk in a restaurant that blows me away before even I see their menu. This place had me when I stepped in. So gorgeous, so colorful, well maintained, the decorations. Only if all other Chinese restaurants were this beautiful. Exterior wise the restaurant is equally beautiful, red and gold building, a water fountain with bunch of huge Koi, green carpet floor with outdoor seatings.
Before I talk about menu, I need to mention their outstanding service, from start to finish, it's professional, fast and efficient.
Their menu is pretty long, with all the familiar popular Chinese dishes. The dim sum items, soup dumplings are really good. Fried oyster were okay. Among entrees, the flounder dragon is amazing. They take the flesh out and serve them in doughs with vegetables. The Hunan Duck is also highlight worthy dish, super tasty spicy sauce, the duck cooked well, soft and moist.
My family had a great time here. We will be surely back to try many more dishes here.

We have been here a couple of times and the food has been great each time. We had 7pm reservations and were seated early. Excellent service and the food came very quickly. Everything was very good. Will definitely go back.

There are good reasons this place gets the highest ratings on NJ Monthly year after year - atmosphere and sevice that can't be beat. I love that they have a split dining room and put families with kids on one side. We've been coming here for decades.
Unfortunately, they lost a star on our recent visit because of FOOD. My Mandarin pork chops were nicely cooked, but I found the flavor mixes didn't compliment each other and were harsh. That could have been my palate, but the sad blandness of my husband's sesame chicken was terrible. The sauce tasted like an overcooked burned reduction, and although a few seeds peeked here and there, no flavor of sesame was to be found.
Great service and a pretty atmosphere need to be matched by outstanding food. I took only 1 star off because of historically good food. I hope next time they'll be better.

Tried to get in here so many times without reservations, finally stopped by early enough to get a table straight away. We had a trio of chicken dishes that were all great. Lots of chicken, not a tremendous amount of grizzle and batter like a lot of adian places in our area. We also had chicken bang bang appetizer . It was very tasty, but i think it would be better hot, not cold. Overall, we liked the experience and will go back.

Great experience. Highly recommend stopping by this place. Service is great and attentive. Prices may be slightly on the high side, but that seems to be the norm these days. It’s worth it. I had the Imperial Chicken. It was delicious, cooked perfectly. Crispy exterior with tender and juicy chicken inside. This is a dry fried dish with a spicy dry rub that is well balanced and not over powering. The pepper blend pairs well with the flavors. Spicy and slightly sweet makes for a dish I will definitely not forget.

I haven't dined at Hunan Taste in almost 20 years. To say that I was missing out would be just a bit of an understatement. Yesterday I had a traditional dish, Beef Boiled Stew in a Fire Hot Oil Sauce. It put to shame every restaurant that serves General Tso's chicken, beef with broccoli etc. Hunan Taste serves REAL Chinese food. Order one of their Traditional Chinese dishes and taste what real Chinese food is like. Incredible.

Service is outstanding. Never have to wait for anything. Actually today was very busy, being during the holidays, but service was still excellent. The wait staff was running around like crazy. Food is amazing. The best Chinese restaurant around!

The restaurant exterior decor was the first thing that really caught my attention. And luckily, the reviews were good so we decided to try the place out for a family dinner.
We made reservations for a tuesday night with 10 people and was pleasantly surprised to find out we were to be seated at a private room. It was quite helpful as we did have 3 kids in the party
The round table with a rotating server was handy as it was easy to get food without having to standup to reach over. Service was quick and the good was good. We especially enjoyed the soup dumplings to start - soup was delicious and meat had nice flavor. Another favorite was their panfried noodle. Sauce was perfect and the noodles paired nicely with it. We also had sesame chicken, sizzling triple delight, lo mein and sweet and sour chicken which were all good but not exactly exceptional.
Had a good time with the fam and, overall, a positive experience so i’m glad we gave it a go!

My wife and I dined here for date night this past week. It was simply amazing from the decadent delicious food, awesome attentive service, and the out of your mind well liquored drinks (ok maybe everything wasn't out of this world, drinks could've been a little lighter on the alcohol). We arrived before our reservation (which can be made on the phone) and were seated promptly. The inside of this restaurant is absolutely stunning from end to end with so many intricate details all the way down to the place settings themselves. The amount of people checking in on you on your experience and playfully joking about things really kept the mood light. The food was really epic. I got the Dragon & Phoenix and my wife got the traditional chicken and broccoli, both came out hot and delicious. I'd very much recommend coming here for a nice family night out as there were tons of families or just prepare yourself for a date night you won't forget.

Authentic Chinese in a sit down environment. The food was excellent and the service was friendly and attentive. The restaurant is beautiful with cloth napkins. Definitely call ahead for a reservation. Portions are large and served family style. We will absolutely return for another meal.

Highly recommend to this Chinese restaurant. Different than any other Chinese food places I ever been to. Food is great. Service is fast and friendly. I will try other food on the menu on my next visit. I tried their seafood supreme. Awesome!

So I've been here 3 times in the last 6 months or so. It always surpasses my expectations. The food is fantastic, and has a full drink and bar menu.
The service here is so incredibly attentive, I'm often amazed how many staff they have working, I'm betting an average of 15 to 20, in restaurant that isn't huge at all.
It's clean as well as beautiful inside and out. I've found it actually quite hard to find a good sit-down upper scale chinese restaurant that takes service, taste and the so important, cleanliness seriously. Hunan Taste does all these in spades. Fantastic place that you should definitely try. While it can be expensive, it's worth it IMO.
PS. Try the soup dumplings!!!!!

Everything you hear about the food is true. Its some of the best Chinese food you might ever have! I didn't feel bloated afterwards! The Mai Tai was excellent! It actually had booze in it! Here is my complaint, as i have seen many other people feel the same way, they need to slow it down. From the moment you sit down, it feels like speed eating. There are servers running all around the restaurant. At least 8-12 times the wait staff was darting up and down the aisles. Their urgency to "flip the table" is way too apparent. We saw a little girl get hit in the head with a plate from one of their speedy wait staff whisking away dirty plates from a table. Heard her father ask her if she was ok.
At the end of our dinner the waiter didnt ask if we wanted desert. He asked if we wanted the check.
We had 6pm reservations on a saturday night.
I would recommend Hunan Taste for the food and decor. They're both excellent. And, If everyone who works there can just stop looking like they're late for a bus, it would be even better.

Wonderful restaurant with amazing food and excellent service. Reminds me of the old House of Chan on 6th Ave and 52nd Street in NYC (now occupied by Rosie O'Gradys). Authentic cuisine and a mighty nice dumpling and dim sum menu. Also Chinese specialties such as pig intestines and jelly fish!!! The spinach veggie dumplings are possibly my favorite on planet earth. The garlic, baby!!! The Shanghai Pork Chop is unique and quite delicious. It's all good!!!

I've heard about this restaurant for many years. Recently my wife and I have gone there for lunch and the food was very good, the service was great and the prices were reasonable. On Labor day my wife and I again visited Hunan Taste for lunch and our original assessment was confirmed. Food was fresh. sauce was tasty, the chicken was tender white meat and the vegetables were cooked to perfection. We will most definitely be back wih the family!

The Pu Pu Platter was excellent, so was everything else. I had the scallops with the vegetables and it was healthy and good. The service was exclernt. We were 9 people with two teenagers and everyone enjoyed the food and the place.
