I went here tonight and I've been here before but it was like 5 years ago when I first moved in the area. I was placed at the sushi bar and I couldn't help but notice the friendly smiled staff , not to mention the chefs made some thing and it tasted amazing that wasn't on the menu . I've never tasted something so good . The nice women who waited on me was so friendly and kind . She was full of smiles and her hospitality was amazing. I had a sweet potato roll some miso soup and calamari (which I have to add is the best calamari I've had In the metro aera I've eaten calamari at slot of places and it's always super rubbery and hard to eat but it was perfect like the first time I ate there . This is one of my favorite places to get food from because it's always amazing . So if any one is looking for an amazing sushi place with a friendly smiled staff I would suggest to eat here . The price is worth everything you get a lot for what you pay for ��☮
Took my wife and daughter for New Years Eve dinner and loved it. The food was excellent as was the service. This was not an Asian restaurant that has sushi but an actual sushi place with an actual sushi chef. We have eaten sushi for years all over the country and for a land locked city the quality and variety were surprising. This was my first time at Wasabi Chi but it won't be my last.
Great food, my "go to" for sushi! I have never had a bad dish here! Love the mango calamari roll, spicy crunchy tuna, and all their specialty rolls!
Used to go to Taki (which is also good) but this became my favorite after the first visit!
Family owned so the restaurant is very family friendly! I highly recommend!
Was here in town w my daughter for Junior Olympics and had a free day to explore. Stopped into this little unasuming place and was amazed. The sushi was delicious, the Sake something I never had before but loved it too. Prob the best miso soup ive ever had. The waitress was very helpful in picking out a variety of things to try, and the suchi chefs were friendly even though they didnt speak much english. Overall AWESOME!!
Always a top notch sushi place. They are also great about special dietary needs too, they can make almost any roll gluten free.
The best place ever! Everything is amazing and you cannot go Wong with anything on the menu. They make everything from sushi, to meals, to apps 100% amazing and high quality! Im obsessed!
My favorite Sushi ever. Great atmosphere, our server the last few times, Andy, is awesome and so knowledgeable! I don't eat raw fish, or like very spicy foods and I have never had a problem with ordering delicious food.
My faves: Fuji Yama Roll, the Brussel Sprout appetizers is life changing, Crunchy Calamari Mango Roll and the Shrimp Tempura Roll.
I was not a fan of the Octopus and Sweet Shrimp nigiri pieces - too tough for my preference.
Stopped in on a recommendation, and did not leave disappointed. Great food, reasonable price, and very friendly staff. Will return!

My wife and I visited Wasabi Chi in Waukee for the first time tonight, definitely not our last. Fresh food, amazing service, and great atmosphere. The Lemon Grass Seafood Soup (chicken was substituted with seafood at request) is a must!
Every one of the Wasabi renditions is absolutely fantastic. Wasabi Chi is great and you can always count on some unique sashimi options being available. Friendly and professional staff, fresh fish and great food. Cannot recommend Wasabi Chi and all of Jay Wang's restaurants enough.
Enjoyed an Andrea's Angels roll and miso soup. Nothing but awesomeness from this place. Calamari was also spot-on!
Went to Wasabi Chi tonight for our anniversary. We had their lion head appetizer, king crab signature roll, out of this world roll, crunchy spicy salmon roll and sake. It was absolutely fantastic! Flavors were incredible!

The best Asian cuisine we’ve ever had. The best part? Staff was incredibly kind and beyond friendly. Our waiter made adjustments to our orders and provided us with what we needed. The food was even better! Every dish was mouth watering. The flavors danced in your mouth. We had a couple picky eaters in our group of 7 and even they liked it. The worst part? I don’t live closer to enjoy this restaurant more often.

Wasabi chi never disappoint. Staffs were friendly and the food were really good. I ordered sushi and sashimi and it was super good. Green salad and squid salad is also very good. The good thing about Wasabi chi is that they serve more than just sushi. They have ramen noodles and Japanese/Chinese food. Whatever you are in the mood for I bet they probably have. The atmosphere was decent.
Fav sushi spot in Johnston! I literally always order the same thing: Marilyn Monroll, spicy edamame, and white tuna nigiri. Their white tuna is the BEST white tuna I’ve ever had and I am a sushi connoisseur. Freaking delicious! It is definitely a little overpriced but it’s really good for when you want to splurge.

Just went to this place last night with my girlfriend and had a pretty great experience,
I loved the dimly lit ambiance of this restaurant, the booth seating close to the sushi bar, and the feel and environment of this place.
We ended up ordering the spicy chicken dumplings as an App along with the miso soup and both were delicious !
Onto our entrees, she ordered the General Tsaos chicken, I ordered the Thai coconut curry cashew shrimp, spicy tuna roll, the spider roll and the crunchy king crab roll.
I've eaten ALOT of sushi in my life and for places in Iowa this was some of the best sushi I've had in this state without question ! Everything was very fresh and tasted great , however in terms of that $15 king crab roll I'm not sure if I'd recommend that as the " crab meat " is shredded which threw me off, I was expecting it to come whole but either way it wasn't bad at all !! Our server was very kind and came up with a smile, she did ask how the food was, which is common and of course the food was amazing! Asked if we wanted refills and came back quickly again with a smile (:
Our bill came out to $88. And some change, I tipped $32 and we left happy, our server and the staff that was around said thank you for the tip and the business (:

Seems like kind of a hidden gem/location to me. Great menu options and the food and drinks were so good! Really great sushi and lots of cool flavor options for sushi. Loved the vibe of the restaurant and was a quiet and pleasant setting. Didn’t have to wait to be seated which was great. Would recommend and go again!
My girlfriend and I each had a magnificent meal at Wasabi Chi! I ordered the red curry and she got sushi and we both left full and satisfied. The staff is fast and friendly. Excellent atmosphere!
