I brought my boyfriend, his brother, and his sister-in-law here for my boyfriend’s birthday. The three of them are originally from Chicago, and tend to be a bit snobbish about pizza. Unanimously-we loved everything. The guys even fell in love with the gluten-free crust. This is our new spot, and I cannot recommend a better pizzeria in Des Moines; possibly the Midwest.
We loved the pizza so much that instead of trying any of the other acclaimed places in Des Moines, we came back for dinner two nights later.
Also: if you enjoy high-end wine, try their happy hour. It’s incredible.
Paesanos has been a family favorite for over 30 years!! My mom went skydiving with the owner/past owner! And my dad even stopped in the day I was born 30 years ago so Naturally it was the place for a big family outing this past August for my 30th bday!! It is such a special place for us! The onion rings are the best around and the pizza is delicious too! The staff have always been so friendly!
My husband and I tried Paesano's or the first time this week and it exceeded our expectations. We tried the onion rings which we decided were the best onion rings we've ever had. We would definitely recommend them! We also shared a combo pizza and the cavatelli. They were both so good! On top of the great food the service was wonderful. Our waitress was fun to chat with and made sure we had everything we needed. We are looking forward to coming back for more onion rings and to try more items on the menu.
Best pizza place on the south side .. possibly the whole state of Iowa. And the best onion rings in the world!
I’ve lived on the south side my entire life and never tried Paesano’s until last night. I also very rarely ever like pizza but this pizza was amazing and the service was excellent. We will definitely be back!
We have been in this restaurant to celebrate many family milestones. The food is great and affordable and people are friendly and hard working. We feel like this small business owner cares about our family.

Paesano's is our go-to pizza restaurant on the South Side, they have a great Italian Grinder, the onion rings are also great, the friendly staff is also a plus!!

I have chased down pizza places in every corner of the USA and even eaten pizza in Salerno Italy. Seeing this one as I drove by it had a nice roadside appearance and a nearly full parking lot at 5:30. That called to me to check it out. Walking in I felt comfortable and attended to. They have a small bar and several beers on tap including some local beers. Being hungry we made a quick decision on the Aunt Angie's special. The crust was crisp, the sauce was fresh tasting and the toppings plentiful as well as flavorful. This would be a good place for a date or a small company meeting. One of the better pizzas I have had this year. Yes that is an egg slice on that pizza.
A family owned resturant I've been going to for years since I was little. Always delicious and very reasonably priced!!! Great waitresses and always have had great service. Their onion rings and hamburger pizza are my faves on the menu!!! Must try this place out if you haven't already.
Family owned & a Great place, friendly vibes and employees. The food is to die for. The homemade onion rings are very good as well. Been in the same spot for as long as i can remember. Would recommend trying if you havent already. Five star review

Egg on the pizza was a great take, the onion rings we're more soggy than I would have liked. A good "once in a while" pizza to have when you need a change of pace
