A surprise in the desert.... We have stopped a couple of times for date shakes, but this time we went with neighbors to get some deli sandwiches. My wife and I had the roast beef with potato salad and our neighbors had the pastrami with macaroni salad. We all thoroughly enjoyed what we had ordered. I kept the paper menu for next year when we come down, so we can order ahead.

I agree, something for everyone. The take home daily specials are a great value and good food. I especially like the lasagna and the spaghetti. Also the deli sandwiches are an excellent value.

From the front you might pass this little place by. Go into the charming little back patio, another world.

The date shakes here are so GOOD. Depending on your tolerance for sugar, one shake could easily be shared between two or even three people. The vanilla ice cream and blended date mix was so insanely sweet and rich. Must try.

Best date shakes EVER. GREAT prices on sammies and fresh deli is wonderful. Great covered patio seating in a grassy area. Don't miss out! And one time they stayed open 5 minutes later just so I could pick up my shake. Priceless customer service. Thank you.

The workers we interacted with were extremely friendly. We came here to try ‘the best date shake in the desert’. It was our first one ever so I’m glad we got to try ‘the best’. I ended up purchasing a ‘butterscotch root beer’ as well even though I don’t even drink soda usually.

Came for the date shake and dates, was not disappointed. Perfect after a long day of walking and sight seeing. Definitely worth the drive north of Palm Springs. Place also has a cute backyard to sit and enjoy your treats.

We stopped here for their famous date shakes, and we were not disappointed! They were delicious! They have a menu that includes sandwiches and other fare, and the store sells groceries and drinks, too. There is an outdoor seating area in the back that is fairly well protected from the frequent high and gusty winds in the area. A great place to stop for a snack, a shake, and some relaxing time in the garden area

If you are looking for a good, chill, no frills lunch, I highly recommend this spot. I had an egg salad sandwich and a date shake for lunch. Both were really top notch. I also bought some water bottles and chips, which were all very reasonably priced. The eating area out back is really cute backyard garden. Staff are all really nice.

Found this hidden gem near work. I wanted something that wasn't fast food and locally owned. First time going I bought their burrito and wasn't a fan. Second time going I tried their turkey sandwich with macaroni. Solid choice, tasteful with fresh ingredients. They even have a outside patio so you can sit down and enjoy your food.

Best date shake in Palm Springs / Desert Hot Springs! We have been here 3 times in the last couple weeks for their date shakes. You can get small, medium or large sizes. You can actually taste the chunks of dates they put in it. On our last visit we decided to have lunch. We ordered a roast beef sandwich on a French roll and a pastrami sandwich on rye. Good meat and fresh bread. Grab some of there delicious dates! They have an outdoor seating area that feels like home. Beautiful flowers and tons of sunshine.

This is a hole in the wall that you do not want to miss! The windmill market is an absolute Jem! You would never know looking from the outside what you will discover on the inside. The different types of lunch specials that they have are incredible for reasonable prices. They have a lovely oasis type style patio in the back where you can sit and enjoy your lunch or your date shakes. The date shakes are absolutely phenomenal. Instead of using date crystals, they actually use the dates themselves which is a huge difference in the taste. It’s easy to miss this location because it’s kind of in the middle of nowhere between North Palm Springs and Desert Hot Springs. It’s just south of Dillon Road on Indian Canyon. This place you have to check out.

A little gem in North Palm Springs. We wanted to experience one of those famous date shakes, so based on reviews, we pulled up to this quaint little building on a corner road and went inside. Besides offering standard and not-so-standard grocery store items, they have a takeout counter for some pretty awesome lunch dishes. We did order the date shake - it lived up to its rep 👍🏼. We also decided that we were hungry and ordered a pastrami sandwich and one of their lunch specials - fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. Excellent quality and generous portions. There is a little garden oasis in their backyard that diners can sit in and enjoy - complete with flowers, ornaments, patio chairs and tables and a lovely lime tree to provide shade. Staff were great. Lucky Palm Springs to have them.
