We took are parents for their 60th wedding anniversary.. Now my parents are very picky and very opinionated about restaurants ... they and us rated everything from the bread, oysters, crab legs lobster tails ,tenderloin, rib eye steak and wine a perfect 10. All food items were cooked to order, hot and fresh.. Servers were attentive and in synch and brought the meal in proper order and gave us time to eat, talk and have dessert. I have know idea about other's reviews. A very pleasant experience and we are glad we went to S&S.

Fantastic weekend spent with family as we see our son Connor off to college, we had a mini family reunion Saturday night. Scotch & Sirloin topped off our gathering with a fantastic atmosphere and delicious food. They also surprised my son with a personalized dessert with a decorative chocolate script and candle written "Congratulations" on the rim of the plate. The waiter was very attentive and added to the delight of the night. Always guaranteed a fine dinner!
It was a cold rainy day so when I thought of the nice warm fire place in the Bistro I knew I had to go. The Bistro was so inviting. The fire made the room very inviting. Had a great meal. The Service was very good.
Our favorite Date Night Spot. Jeremy in the bar is always making something delicious. The Bistro is our spot. Just had Mothers Day Dinner in the Dining Room and it was perfect. Service and food were spot on. We will keep coming back.
Great food and service! Out server was excellent and food came out fast. Always great food at the scotch.
We came in for a lacrosse tournament and stopped in for dinner after. We were seated right away. Our waiter was wonderful as was the drink waitress. The scallops were the best I have ever had and my husband and son were also very pleased and impressed with their meals. I wish that it was not an hour and a half away!
The food and service were fantastic. My petite prime rib could easily have fed two and all of our entrees were fresh and delicious. Hadn't been there in a couple of years but will certainly be returning soon.
Had the best time the food, ambiance, and service was outstanding. I always enjoy myself whenever I come here.
Had a fantastic meal the other night, the scallops were amazing
my family comes here every year for New Years Eve..food is allways excellent and steaks are cooked to perfection! Keep doin what you doin scotch!!!
We had a nice evening near the fireplace, the atmosphere was quiet, and the waitstaff was great. Reasonable dinner prices.
The steaks (rare and super rare) melt in your mouth. One of the best, if not the best, steaks I’ve had. All the sides including mashed potatoes, squash, sautéed mushrooms all had great flavor. The French onion soup was delicious and the escargot was better than places in France. One of my top recommendations for a great dinner in Syracuse.
When you want a restaurant where you can depend on the quality of the food and the excellence of the service, this is the place to go in Syracuse. The ambiance is great, and I have never been disappointed in my meal. If you are hungry, start with an appetizer such as their delicious French onion soup. Then visit the salad bar (see update below) where you will find excellent self-carved dark and light bread and fresh greens. Add-ons include artichoke hearts, beets, chickpeas, onions, pepperoncini, croutons and crumbled bacon. A variety of dressings is offered. They start preparing your entree only when you visit the salad bar, so you have plenty of time to enjoy your salad. The steaks are excellent and arrive cooked to the degree you requested. Their baked potatoes are always perfect. They offer a variety of desserts, but I always order the raspberry cream which has been on the menu since the '70s. I'm as susceptible as anyone else to trying the new restaurants in town, but I always go back the Scotch & Sirloin.
POST PANDEMIC UPDATE: Unfortunately, the menu is much more limited than it was pre-pandemic. They no longer offer the top sirloin or the raspberry cream. The most regrettable loss is the salad bar. This is understandable in view covid, but instead of including a side salad with entrees, you now have to pay $10 or more for a salad, dispite the fact that the prices of entrees have been increased. The service and ambiance are still excellent, but we may not be dining at this restaurant as often as we have in the past. UPDATE-2: When my daughter returns to Syracuse, the first place she wants to go is this restaurant. It not only has great food but also great nostalgic value.
It is very romantic. A little on the expensive side, but worth it. Their steaks are fantastic. If you like fruity alcoholic drinks I wouldn't recommend getting them there as their alcohol is very rich and strong. Aside from that the atmosphere is quiet and romantic, the service was amazing. The food I would every day if I could. Highly recommend. Fantastic for anniversary dinners!
I called to make a reservation one day prior to the dinner and was able to easily get the time I requested and I was even asked if the reservation was for a special occasion. I told her a birthday and one of the desserts we ordered came out with a candle in it for my dad. Food was delicious and service was great. Steak knives could have been sharper since the strip steaks we ordered were a bit tough to cut.
Went to celebrate my husband's birthday. Service was good and so was the food. Will go back again.
My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary. We wanted a good steak dinner and that is what we had. Steaks cooked perfectly, Medium rare! Steak fries are real potatoes cooked with a crispy outside. For dessert we had the peanut butter pie and this was delicious. Do not be discouraged by the outside. Food and service was great!
Nothing beats a good meal by a roaring fire on a cold evening! Server and others were very attentive. I highly recommend the French Onion Soup. My husband's steak was delicious and my burger was flavorful!
Service was exceptional, food came out fast however limited soft drink selection. Food was decent but not worth its price. Appetizers were sub par and mashed potatoes were slightly salty but steak and salad were great
There is nothing like sitting around an open fire on a cold nite. The bar area provides that in a great way.
The service here is always top-notch too. The menu isn't large, but everything on it hits your table prepared wonderfully.
My husband and I went here for our first anniversary, and it was lovely! My husband got the teriyaki steak (delicious!) with sweet potato fries (done to perfection!) and chocolate peanut butter pie for dessert (so peanut buttery!). I got the linguini primavera (so flavorful!) and the creme brulee for dessert (ahh SO good!). The lighting was somewhat on the dark side, but our table was lit by its own overhead lamp, as many of the tables are, which was very helpful. I, for one, enjoyed the mood lighting. We let them know it was our anniversary ahead of time and they gave us a sweet little dessert with candles on it and the words “happy anniversary”, which was so nice! The staff were very pleasant and extremely helpful, especially with all the questions and requests we had! 😂 I would definitely recommend this restaurant!
High end steak house with a somewhat limited menu. We sat inside in the dining room, but they offered outdoor seating along with a lounge option. Very extensive liquor menu. Although we were there to celebrate Lisa's birthday, neither of us sampled the liquor.
When I made the reservation the gentleman asked if we were celebrating anything, and I told him. The picture on this review is of the lovely dessert they brought us. It looks like a flower. It was vanilla and mint chocolate chip ice creams with whipped cream, and delicious.
We both had beef options - the sirloin for me, and the filet for her. Both were perfectly cooked and drained just right.
Lisa reports that the mashed potatoes that accompanied her dish were the best she's ever had, and I had to agree. I chose the steak fries, which were wedges, and also fantastic.
To start we had the French onion soup, also delicious - not too salty with just the right amount of onions.
In a romantic twist, we went there 19 years ago for our first date.
Highly recommend. Dinner for two, with soup but no drinks was a little more than $100, but worth every penny.
The food was excellent. The service could have been better. The team of servers seemed very bothered when asked questions and during a conversation at my table (that sat 8 of us) a male server was listening in and was rolling his eyes while making despicable facial expressions. As soon as he saw that 2 of us noticed it he did not come back to our table. The bus boy at the salad bar was so helpful and pleasantly polite. I would definitely come back for the food. I just hope the attitude of the servers changes. And they use their manners while reaching over my plate to get my empty glass
Update: WONDERFUL! SERVERS WERE AWESOME!!! DESSERT (CHOCOLATE PB PIE) WAS GREAT!!!
The atmosphere is dark with a 1970's feel. Burgers were cooked as requested. The fries weren't crispy. Our server was friendly, but forgot to bring ketchup and mayonnaise with our food. We waited several minutes for the condiments to arrive. Our ice cream Sunday desserts were mostly liquid.
