You can find Cho Dang Tofu House at 5907 Buford Hwy NE, Doraville, GA 30340, this is on the right headed North of I285 about a block from Winters Chapel Rd. The building is free standing and away from a shopping center behind it. It's a bit difficult to discern as the name in in Korean with "Korean Restaurant" beneath. The sign near the road has "Chodang" written on it but it's can be hard to see. Parking is in the lot out front or spills out to the right. You can come here after you "Treat your feet" across the street...
WOW! The food at Cho Dang Tofu is truly excellent. I am completely in love with Korean soon dubu (tofu stew). Even a lousy soon dubu is still not too bad in my book. A great soon dubu is sublime and that is what you get at Cho Dang. It is thick and rich, none of that watery nonsense you get at some places. Their banchan is great too and there is a generous variety with refills gladly offered. The prices are super cheap especially the lunch specials. They even have free ice cream. Service is great. The staff seemed happy to have Americans instead of freaked out by the oddity which happens in some BuHi restaurants. The decor is hole in the wall rustic but very clean and who cares about decor when the food is this good. Highly recommended!!
This is my favorite go to spot for Tofu Soup. I like ordering the combo plate of tofu soup and kaibi beef. Sometimes the portion of short rib isn't worth the extra$ but they are really good and tasty here. I get the beef tofu soup spicy. I used to get it extra spicy but I find that over all taste is better with normal spicy. Its one pf the best comfort meals available. The fragant boiling pot gets placed in front of you and you immediately crack your egg into it to poach in the broth. I like all the side dishes that come with it as well except for the cold noodles. The best are the kimchi, the marinated fishes with jalapeno, bean sprouts, and bokchoy. You also have a choice of the purple rice or regular rice with the meal at no additional charge. Both are good with the soup but get the purple rice. Be sure to scoop it out as soon as you get it or it will stick to the bowl. And to top iff the delicious meal, Complimentary all you can eat coffee and soft serve ice cream cones...yes I said FREE and you help yourself. The servers are Always friendly and speedy. The atmosphere is also very open, comfortable and relaxing. This is a great establishment, maybe there is tastier somewhere but this place is the standard bearer.
MoGo!!!. My Korean family that adopted me took me here before our exploration of Super H Mart and the Buford Highway Farmers market. This place was really good. The banchan was all really good and you got a lot. They had purple rice which I have never seen before. I ordered the hot pot bulgogi and the broth was SO flavorful and delicious. My mom got the hot tofu soup which was really good as well. I also tried the galbi which was good, but Ive had better. The waitress was kind of neglectful and the place is a little expensive. Overall, if you are driving down Buford Hwy and see this place, I recommend you eat here because the food is really good and really high quality.
Authentic and Reasonable Price. Always good service and great authentic food. We usually go on SUnday for lunch and always able to get a table with quick service. The wait staff are good at their jobs but don't be put off if they don't seem friendly. They are not rude either just don't go in expcting warm & fuzzy love from them :-)
Besides....it's all about the FOOD anyway!
眅務好價錢公道出餐快速值得一識味道一流 the service was excellent. The prices are very reasonable for the amount of food they give, and the food comes out quickly. Also the taste is supurb; a very traditonal taste. I recommend getting th BBQ rib combo with a choice of soup, and if you're dining with a party try the seafood pancake,
If you want something different from the usual Korean BBQ this place us it. Authentic bubbling hot tofu soups, great variety of kimchee and other staples such as bi bim bap. Kid friendly (free icecream).
Cho Dang Tofu Restaurant was recommended by an acquaintance, who said of it, "It's open pretty late, until 2 am. We eat there often and the people there know us. I like it because they give you fish with your side dishes." She then paused and said, "Is it
TL;DR - Absolutely worth a try.
The last time when I was here was a few years ago. This time, there are not many people in the restaurant. Three tables, including us, and only one waiter. The lack of customers and servers got me very concerned.
We order a Seafood and Beef Tofu Soup and a Seafood Pancake. After that first bite of seafood pancake and the first sip of tofu soup, all the concerns mentioned above have gone away.
My biggest complaint is the size of the soup. The diameter of the bowl is way less than the size of my palm. The bowl is probably only 4.5 inches in diameter. If you need a reference, use your phone. The bowl diameter is perhaps smaller than your phone’s screen size.
I've never been the type to like soondubu that much, especially when I feel like I can just make it at home.. but man oh man was I wrong.
This place's seafood and beef soondubu was AMAZING. 💯
Ask for the purple rice with it! It is wonderful combo. They have the most amazing, simple yet tasty side dishes! Not to mention, fishcake as one of them! (Which I feel like are a rarity these days 😆)
Really nice, chill environment. Definitely come and show them some support! Their prices are affordable so I highly recommend them too.
Enjoy! 😋
Quiet Korean restaurant for a quick and easy meal with the family. The seafood bibimbap was good and so was the tofu soup and short ribs. The services were fine too.
Cute lil ramen shop.. if u like spice get hot .. med is Weak sauce humble lol store wit a family owned style… very welcoming
Quaint and homey tofu house with great food. Simple, yummy, and hits the spot. Friendly service and overall great place. They even have an ice cream machine :)
Photos: Spicy chicken, beef kimchi bibimbap, and beef tofu soup.
The veggie dumplings were delicious!! The server was also very nice and helped us whenever we had questions. Go check it out!!!
Great Korean food with a variety of vegetarian friendly options. The spicy mushroom soup is just what I needed to clear my sinuses. The kimchi was amazing. They accept American Express, and there is complimentary soft serve ice cream after your meal!
I got the stone pot mushroom soup with extra mushrooms and with the combo short ribs.
I've been here twice and I know for sure it'll be a regular affair going forward. I'm a vegetarian and sometimes it's just super difficult to find food thats actually flavorful and makes you crave for it. And here's that kinda spot. I got the veggie dumpling tofu soup (soondubu), the dumpling were so big and the stuffing was real good. The tofu soup was just perfect, spicy, hot just yummy. Got the mushroom bibimbap added tofu to it - the tofu was pan sauteed, enoki mushroom, Portobello and shiitake mushroom, and just added gochujang to it - it was delicious. Also got the kimchee pancake - they awesome made it without the beef, was so happy!! Their rice tea is yum too. It's such a sweet little restaurant not fancy at all and that's what I like about it.
