Quirky name, easy to find, close parking. Big menu, so have an idea of what you like. Chicken and short ribs combo is delicious. The potato salad is light and creamy, no sharp tastes. Cajun fries hit the spot. Brisket sandwich is also a hit. Definitely worth a return visit. Yes, they serve beer.

You won’t find more tender brisket anywhere west of the Mississippi! The brisket is smoked for hours before being served. The dry rub ribs are chewy, flavorful and have a definite smoke ring. Only thing I was dissatisfied with was the beans. They were watery and Luke warm. When you step up to order be ready because things move fast. The staff is friendly and helpful. I have eaten here 20 times over the years and have never been disappointed.

This is my go to BBQ. I got the half rack with onion rings. The meat wanted to jump off the bone. Dang good.

Armadillo Willy’s in Dublin, CA has consistently the best BBQ in the tri-city area. And, in all my years of patronizing this business I have never had a bad customer service experience. It is for both of those reasons that I give them a four star. However, there is one minor problem that I must state. The potatoes in the potato salad are often under cooked. Otherwise, please do not hesitate to give this establishment a try.

I had the pulled pork. It was dry and over cooked. Same for the baby back ribs. Potato salad was good but unremarkable. For the money spent I expected better food.

I loved the texas ribs they were delicious, the mean came of the bone. The corn muffin soft, warm and tasty. I also had the tater tots which were delicious as well. My experience was great, the cashier was helpful and informative about the menu. The food service was also great. I did not give a 5 star because the meal did not include a drink, I wish it did for the price we paid.

Love the burgers and tater tots here. I only wish they still had the peanut butter bacon burger. That was my absolute favorite here.

BF had bbq pork burnt ends, Texas and potato salad. He said burnt ends melted in his mouth. He doesn't even eat pork. Texas toast was delicious too. I had small Texas Ribs plate with side cornbread muffin with cinnamon butter. Mine was delicous!!

Barbecue was the smell we experienced when we opened the windows of our first apartment out here in East Bay. After the 2,200-mile drive from the snow of Chicago, the smell coming from down the street was the first thing that put our nerves at ease. We followed our nose till we found the source: Armadillo Willys. And we devoured. Nearly 3 years later of smelling it nearly every day and all we did was move closer. We now literally live across the sidewalk from Armadillo Willys in Dublin. We see the smoke from their grills coming off their stacks. We breathe it in every morning. It emanates into our apartment the moment we open the windows. Yet, after 3 years, we have to put a limit on how often we go there because if I could afford to - "afford" as in, "it's a minimum of a $100,000.00 USD down payment to buy a house out here and you have to brown bag it as much as you can or rent forever" - I'd be there every day. I still jones for their 18-hour slow-roasted brisket. I love going by late at night, talking to the staff and hearing it's sold out. Why? Because they don't microwave a new batch if they sell out of a food. It's slow roasted, done right. You can't say that about every place out here. Seriously, I've tried other places. Their barbecue tastes too, "Californian," as in "no-flavor, eat-to-live, why-the-hell-do-you-serve-this" placebo dishes. Some others I've tried are either dry or a bland accessory to give their bar a theme. Granted, I still have several more to get to and I tell myself I will when I need a break from Armadillo Willys. But, still to this day, I haven't needed the break. The ambiance still needs broken in a little bit to feel like a true southern bbq joint. The walls are too clean and the music needs to be a little more outlaw country. But, otherwise, it's like some of the best bits of home moved with us. Now I'm hungry.

I am usually very pleased with everything about this restaurant but for the first time I was very disappointed with the Ribs. They were very dry and did not fall off the bone as always. Everyone is entitled to a bad day once in awhile.

Dilemma! Should we drive miles and miles to Armadillo Willy’s for BBQ to bring in the new year of 2023 or Famous Dave’s? The reviews are really a toss! Have eaten at both places at different locations, including state, but never in Dublin or Hayward. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance! Stay tune for review of customer service and order take-out. Happy New Year! We chose A. W. and was very pleased from entrance, to exit to being very satisfied with what we ordered. My guest was pleased for it was their 1st time. Thank you A.W. for your friendly and patient customer service and great BBQ. As Arnold once said, “We’ll be back!” Oops, forgot to add photos; anticipation!
