Love this place. I don't get here all that often...but I love this place! Beautiful restaurant and great food!
Good Service!. We were greeted warmly and taken well care of by our hostess. The wine she selected for me to have with my meal was perfect. My husband had Sichuan shrimp and rice and cleaned his plate. I had the chicken penne which had some great flavors and textures, such as the mushrooms and beans, but the chicken was quite dry. Their bread and oil that came out were good, as well. It was a nice evening, and while the food wasn't superb, it was a nice time for a date night/trying a new restaurant.
Good Walleye Dish. Try the Walleye! Very unusual with watermelon and corn salsa but it works and tastes great.
AMAZING. I have been to J. Liu several times for both dinner and lunch. I have to say that we have yet to have a bad experience, and even with ordering something different every time, we are yet to be disappointed in the food we get.
Our top picks:
Lobster Bisque - might be the best I have ever had
Calamari - Not what you would expect at all. It's larger thick strips and sounded like it would be rubbery and gross. Someone who was with us insisted we try it and it's melt in your mouth amazing.
Pork Shank - Just falls apart when you touch it. So tender and amazingly delicious. When we go here with my husband's side of the family, it's a rule that someone has to order this.
Mala green beans - bursting with flavor... makes my mouth water thinking about it.
The place is small, but we have never been there when it was so busy we couldn't get a table. If we are going at prime dinner time we make sure to make a reservation. Parking can be a challenge, but somehow we have always managed to get lucky and park in their small parking lot. I would recommend a drive through the parking lot before just assuming you have to park in the fields of cars behind the restaurant.
At dinner time this place is pricey, but for lunch it is very reasonable. The decor is great. I love the modern/asian style! I feel right at home in this place and the service is always amazing. We brought in a cake for my husband's birthday once and they insisted that they take the cake and serve it for us. There was no charge for this, and it was so nice to have this all done. They cut very large pieces, and when there were several of us that had leftovers, they even brought us to go boxes for the last of the cake on our plates. All of this free of charge? Wonderful!
J came to our table!! Best part was the bread and olive oil. I wanted more and more. App was fried artichoke hearts. It was just ok. Salads were truly memorable-- candied pecans, gargonzola, fresh cracked pepper. I had pasta de mare, dad had spaghetti and meatballs. I liked my pasta but dad thought the sauce was too sweet, but he's from sicily so he's extra picky. We had fun, crowd was great, food was pretty good.
Love it!. I love, love, love Jasons...it will always be Jason's to me!! Love the Spinach Artichoke with bruschetta...the best! And their Shrimp Fried Rice is addictive.
Best Pad Thai. Hands down, best pad thai in Columbus. It is sweet and spicy, noodles are cooked to perfection, and has the right mix of veggies and meat.
Good for Families who can't decide. I love the fact that this place serves a menu that can satisfy all palates. I can eat Italian and my husband can eat Chinese. What is not to love about the ability to serve those who can't agree?
Terrific lunch. We were wanting Chinese and happened to think about J Liu. I've had both lunch and dinner there in the past but never ordered Asian food. We ordered pot stickers, and they were among the best we've had in the Columbus area--fresh ingredients, very good. Then I had sesame chicken. It arrived with a side of fluffy white rice, and the chicken was a generous serving in a marvelous sauce with tiny broccoli tips in it. Just a nice, nice dish. Service was above average but not outstanding. The atmosphere is very pleasant. J Lius is a great addition to the Worthington restaurant scene.
Great Place. I've never had a bad experience here. The ambiance is great and the food is delicious. The spring rolls, lettuce wraps, and fried rice is the best.
Had a great happy hour! Chef made a special blend of cheese fries - special for us off the menu. Have also enjoyed lunches at this place.
My husband I have been here a few times and never had a bad experience. The food and service has been more than stellar every time. Sunday brunch is also delicious, try the hash! Afterward you can walk to Jeni's ice cream for dessert!
Jasons STILL OPEN!!. They just had to change their name!! It's J. Lui now and just as good!!
Overall GrubGrade B The Breakdown: Atmosphere: Grade A-: First off, before you click the link above and visit the website for J.Liu, make sure you turn down the volume on your computer. It’s loud! I didn’t turn down my volume and accidentally made a little water in my britches when the music came blasting out of my computer. It’s not what you’d expect. On the outside, J.Liu is nearly identical to the buildings adjacent to it, one of which is a bank. So what, you ask You just need to make sure you have an idea of where you’re going or else you might just drive right on by it. On the inside, J.Liu is nicely decorated with a distinct upscale vibe. Check out the menu online first though, because you’re not going to be able to determine what kind of restaurant J.Liu is based on its décor. Tables are nicely spaced and the place was spotless. High marks: Nicely spaced tables, clean, upscale Low marks: Upscale déc
JLiu, formerly called Jason’s, is one of my favorite restaurants in Columbus. The food there is spectacular!
