I came here one day with some friends. I was from out of town and visiting them for a few days. I did some research, and this place kept on coming up as one of the best spots in town. I don't have a lot of African experience, so I was instantly intrigued. After a morning of exploring the Prince William Forest, we came here for a good lunch.
As a guy who's not well versed in the cuisine, I asked for advice, and I was lead in the right direction. I can't seem to find the exact menu item, but I know it the main focal point was that jollof rice. Man, the flavors in that rice were very new to me, and very delicious. Lots of good heat, but not spicy at all. You gotta try it.
Also on my place was some sort of meat, some sort of delicious fish on the bone, a nice hard boiled egg, and some sweet plantains. Along with a small salad. Good meat, good sauce. Love eating meat off the bone, adds so much good flavor. Just a really nice meal.
I also got some Sweet Plantain Balls (Caclo) as an app. These things were amazing! I usually don't like plantains, But these were very soft, coated in a tangy, umami powder, again a new thing for me.
Overall, I very much enjoyed this place. If you're ever in Dumfries, VA, I would highly recommend you stop by, as this was the best food I had the whole time I was in town!
This restaurant was such a joy to eat at. They gave me a lot for the money, I got the Jollof meal. And the cook/server was so warm and matronly. The food was fantastic of course, and presented very caringly. When I'm in the area I'll definitely want to come again.
Quality, Cleanliness and Packaging outstanding...and the best of all homely & respectful top notch customer service. They have alot of varieties on their menu...very tasty but my go to is their waakye and the fufu & spinach soup with smoke turkey and fish. They seldom carry goat meat...I wish they do.
It’s a hit or miss with their food. Sometimes it’s really good and other times it’s awful. I think it’s because they don’t have a consistent chef. I’ll recommend.
Absolutely amazing. Git the waakye. Was portioned very well. Stew was great.
I have been coming here for almost two years now, it's honestly one of the only places where I can go and have some authentic food! The husband and wife (I think, I could be wrong) are amazing! They are super nice! Always friendly. Definitely recommend the jellof rice! The best!
Very well prepared Caribbean and African food. Love , love their delicious fried rice with chicken.
First time here and the food was amazing thanks 🥲❤️❤️
OMG I love this place I will definitely reorder food again
The food was delicious.
I’m originally from Ghana but live in New York and stopped by while I was in Virginia with my girlfriend. We ordered the banku tilapia+chicken fried rice to go while we were an hour away from the restaurant. We still had to wait another 30 minutes when we arrived before the food was ready which was outrageous. I generously gave 5 stars because the food was delicious and I want my people to succeed........I hope they work on their timing tho.
This is my favorite place to get food, especially Jollof rice. The food is wonderful and the quantity is amazing. I will keep coming back. Keep up the good work.
