THE BEST soup dumplings anywhere in the US. Loooong wait times and lines (pre pandemic!!!) and slightly over the average prices. I have tried soup dumplings all over the US and I believe this place has better soup dumplings than even the very famous dumpling houses of NYC. 3 dishes that you don't want to miss are pork soup dumplings, crab meat dumplings and meat and vegetable wontons in spicy source.

Take out! Love this place. We got the vegetable steam buns, pork wontons in a spicy peanut sauce and pork steam juicy buns which is their signature. All I can tell you is that there is no better place in central Jersey to get these. I highly recommend this place. Ps: go easy on the pork steam juicy buns as they are extremely hot when you first get them :).

Wow this place was phenomenal. The pork soup dumplings are as good as everyone says. The skin is thin but doesn’t break even after traveling an hour with them. And the pork was perfectly juicy. also ordered salted duck, chicken in wine sauce, sweet soybean milk, and rice cake with preserves cabbage and shredded pork. The salted duck is a must try. The chicken was very authentic and The rice cakes had great texture. I loved everything I had there and would definitely go back for more!

Amazing, delicious dumplings!! Got the recommendation from several local residents, so figured they must be good. Soup dumplings were excellent! We got them to go and ate them as soon as we could. The Shanghai pan fried dumplings were excellent, super fluffy and filling. The shumai with rice were also very large! Loved all the dumpling items. We also got the beef rolls with a flaky, crispy shell, and pan fried udon noodles. Those were good as well, but definitely stock up on any and all of the dumplings. Can’t wait to order more!

Came here with my parents and significant other, we ordered the 2 bubble teas, 2 types of soup dumplings, fried buns, cilantro rice cakes, cold chicken, scallion pancakes, and my mom got some meat udon noodles... the bill ended up not being over $60 which was impressive! To start... WAIT before you eat, things are made to order and when they finish cooking it, the next second it's on your table! Eagerness and impatience burned my mouth so wait a bit. The soup dumplings are made in house and are absolutely DELICIOUS, I also recommend the fried meat buns which comes with a slightly spicy sauce on the side. The chicken is also very tasty, though it has a hint of something like rice wine, but it was great and would order again! To be honest, a lot of the food here is solid and you really can't go wrong with anything, but obviously, the dumplings and buns are the way to go! The bubble tea is vey solid as well, so just order any and you won't be disappointed. I would 100% come again even with a 40 minute wait, you can try to come at a not so busy time but to me, it's with the wait. The staff is very friendly, fluent in Mandarin, my family personally speaks Cantonese but they understand English and the universal "point at the menu" dialect and numbers so don't be too intimidated that you don't know Chinese!

Tucked away in Edison, Shanghai Dumpling House features authentic flavors, fast service and a wide variety of menu items making this restaurant quite the gem. Place is packed around lunch time, not uncommon to see a wait but trust me it’s worth it. I will definitely be coming back!
