This fourth generation family owned business opened in 1927 is one of the highly recommended restaurant in El Paso and trust me it didn’t disappoint me at all. The atmosphere is fantastic and the food is good. I highly recommend their green and red sauce it is soo good with the chips and I loved strawberry margarita it was good with a chilly powder giving sweet and spicing up every sip it’s a unique taste I have experienced.
The green chili chicken enchiladas was upto the mark. Definitely recommend this place.
Went on a Wednesday around noon — was a little confused on the entrance initially, and then who/where to ask for a table. The Cafe shares the space with a bar (whose staff seem friendly). However, once we found our seats, the staff were attentive, food/drinks were delivered timely, and the ambiance was very calm and homey. Food was a bit too greasy for my taste but overall very good! The complimentary chips and salsa were especially tasty in my opinion. I would definitely stop by again.
We really enjoyed our experience here! They were very accommodating and had a great selection of both food and drinks. The meats were all lacking a bit of flavor, but sauces and sides were really delicious! Would recommend for anyone in the area.
On Christmas Eve, I decided to take a drive around El Paso and all the restaurants that I went to were closed. Heading back home, I stopped at L & J to buy me some chicken tacos to go.
My meal was delicious 😋 and filling and to Bad the 🤠 lost!
Wanted to find some good Mexican food while I was in El Paso and it did not disappoint. There was a short wait and it was totally worth it. The chips and salsa were great, as were the tacos. Service was great, like the best I've had in a long time. No regrets.
Food was great! Still working on getting their liquor license, will really be a boost for them I believe. The alternate wine they use, tequista, is a little sweet, but is the best alternative to tequila for them right now.
When you visit this place, you see lots of local people enjoying great food, and that is a good sign that this realy is authentic maxican cuisine.
I ordered maxican combo, each item was delicious and it was lots of food. I enjoyed every bit of it.
Highly recommended for maxican cuisine.
Everyone in El Paso knows L&J for their delicious Mexican food for lunch or dinner. Their breakfast is also great! From Mexican choices to Bannana Foster French toast and the biggest softest cinnamon rolls!
I ordered the Mexican combination so that I can try a little bit of everything. That green chile stew was my favorite so far. I plan on coming back again. The servers were very professional and quick.
Going back home means going back to real Mexican food in El Paso. It is truly hard to find many restaurants in North Dallas with an authentic Mexican flavor. The restaurant by the graveyards allows those of us who left to come back and quietly wrap our taste buds around THAT 915 taste. If you are from out of town, know that parking is a real problem and YES it's located next to a cemetery which Zac Bagans featured on one of his most scariest shows. Cashews mom and I left the monkies behind so we could have quality time with our taste buds and not hear one child tell the other "leave me alone." The restaurant has its bathrooms as you enter and know that it's a small place so large parties might have not only wait time issues but sitting together.
They bring you warm chips and salsa so be careful to not load up with these items since they are so good. My big belly needed enmoladas, like enchiladas but the sauce has a sweeter chocolate base, with eggs and refried beans. Cashews mom needed her Chile Relleno burrito. The meal was awesome. The hang time waiting for the meal a bit long yet my tate buds were thrilled to be infused with that hometown food. If you visit, bring your Holy water and cross, yet you'll depart with a smile on your face.
Pretty good, was absolutely packed on a Monday night. decently priced.
The salsa and Queso where good, though the red/mild salsa was very sour. The green salsa was decently hot and tasted good.
I got a strawberry margarita, while my coworkers got regular ones. The strawberry was very sweet, and the regular ones were just a touch to sweet. They ended up getting an additional margarita, so they were good.
I got the mole enchiladas which were very good. Rice was bit hard. My coworkers got a sampler and green chili enchiladas, which they said were also good.
Decently priced, would go again.
L & J Cafe in El Paso exceeded expectations with its delightful menu, featuring standout dishes like the chicken chili con queso, chicken, and sirloin tampiquena plate. I looooved the sirloin ! It was really greaaat , perfectly done ✔️
The highlight, though, was the exceptional service provided by ***Courtney***!! Also Juan , making it the best dining experience in a very long time.
The combination of flavorful food and top-notch service makes L & J Cafe a must-visit for those seeking an authentic and enjoyable culinary experience in El Paso.
Big thanks to the Chef 👨🏻🍳
And to Courtney !
Absolutely wonderful food, service, and price. Love the support the show to the soldiers. I'm so glad we came here to eat while we were visiting our soldier. He said that while he is station out here, he would definitely go back.

Ok..so this is one of those places I will be thinking about for a long time. The tortilla soup is the best I have had since 1986 in Mexico city.
So good. This is the kind of tortilla soup that I might now have to make special trips for even though I live 800 miles away.
Wow!
Great atmosphere too.. people dancing. Just an overall gem that you would never find. I tried 3 different places the locals told me about and L&js wins out of the 3 and it is not even close!
A renowned family run authentic Mexican at its best. Numerous food and service awards. Very delicious and make sure to try the cinnamon coffee. Staff was very engaging with all the customers.
Amazing food. Amazing atmosphere. Prompt service makes this place legendary. If you're not familiar with the menu, the sampler platter will do you justice. A must stop if you are visiting or passing through El Paso.
