Very good sushi restaurant. They have first-class ingredients. Everything is fresh and of high quality. The service was first-rate as well. Everyone was polite and smiling. We received our order quickly. The waiting time was very pleasant for us thanks to the atmosphere in this place.

Takoyaki, ramen and the up in smoke roll were all delicious. I'm a big fan of yellowtail and this place offers a couple of options. Menu's got some creative rolls and cocktails on there as well. Prices are reasonable and our service was great despite the restaurant being fairly full.

My best friend and I decided to try this place on a recommendation that the new sushi place downtown was really good. Yesterday were celebrating Galentine's, feeling nostalgic about 10 years since graduation (We LOVE sushi, Japanese culture and cuisine, studied Japanese for 4 years, then went to Japan after graduating high school) The atmosphere is on point. Relaxed, cool, modern. I had forgotten a mask, they let us know we could still come in and sit down, but we had asked for one anyway so I could use it at the other stores. It was no big deal so we decided to let it go, just sit down and figure out where I could get one later. Our waitress was very sweet, attentive. We ordered bento boxes and I asked for a tofu substitution- this was my first time ordering Japanese food/sushi since becoming (mainly) vegan. Not only did our waitress and the chef accommodate me, they went above and beyond checking with me for each aspect of the box that had meat in it (I had forgotten how much meat was included, and was pretty embarrassed that I had ordered something that basically had to be made into a new dish). They did not mind at all, and the food was incredible. To top it off, I believe the owner (who had told us to come in and sit when we came in) came over to clarify if I had asked for a mask to use elsewhere, because they have plenty of spare masks and realized after what we were asking. PHENOMINAL. We were so excited to find such a great place in downtown Elgin. There are great ones, and a couple we really like, but this is exactly what we were looking for and more. This will be a regular spot for us (and everyone we recommend it to) for sure.

This place blew us away. The host was welcoming and accommodating. The sushi bar experience was awesome. The service was friendly and attentive. Atmosphere was top notch. The sushi was some of the best we've had in the area. Excellent experience. Hats off to staff and management.

If I could give this place 10 stars I would. Every time I go I think it can’t get better but then the next time I am even more blown away! It’s small but not crowded. The staff is attentive but not bothersome. Such a cool vibe. They do not mass produce the food, each dish is made with care, we loved our food and kept snooping at our neighbor’s food because everything looked amazing. The sushi is masterful, simple yet complex flavors and many veggie options that hit just perfectly! I had the Jade Garden and the Veggie Dragon and wow, just wow!! I am already looking forward to my next visit. Melody is so friendly. The best sushi I have ever had and I have had a lot of sushi!! GO THERE!!

OUTSTANDING!!! It was my wife's birthday. It was 4 of us, my wife, 2 step daughters, and myself. We got a couple appetizers, 4 amazing sushi rolls, and the girls also got a bowl of Ramen each. Everyone loved the food. After we were done eating and the table mostly cleared, one of the staff put 4 Forks and Napkins on the table. Then, Mel brings out a plate with 2 cheese cakes on it and the words Feliz Cumpleaños on it!!! I guess when I made the reservation I mentioned it was my wife's birthday AND they knew she was Mexican. A simple and caring detail that is really unheard of these days in the restaurant industry. If you're looking for a nice place to eat with amazing food, and outstanding attention to detail, this is the place to go.

I love this place; the food is great and the presentation is amazing even when you get takeout. One warning, though: do NOT purchase gift cards. My wife's employer purchased $100 in Kubo gift cards for her, and we tried to redeem them for a few lunches. Once, it worked. But after that, their system was constantly broken. Twice, the worker (owner? manager? hard to tell; everyone at Kubo is friendly) at the restaurant gave us a free meal instead of fixing the gift cards, which seemed okay, but when we came to use them the fourth time, the same worker accused us of trying to use counterfeit cards, and told us to bring a credit card receipt to prove they were actually purchased. My wife went through the processes needed to convince her employer to let her take the corporate credit card receipt with her to the restaurant (!), because we really like the food. We finally took it to the restaurant only to be told that this also was not good enough, because the gift cards could have been redeemed by someone else and there was no way to know(??). The fact that they can't tell if the gift cards were redeemed indicates that their gift card system is just irredeemably bad. In the end, this worker (owner? manager?) thinks we are some kind of gift card scammers, but we just want delicious sushi lunch.
