We went to the 1863 Grill to celebrate our son being accepted into the United States Air Force Academy. We had wings with the dry house rub and the BLT dip for starters...both ample portions and very tasty! I had the blackened salmon for dinner...a large portion that was cooked "spot on" and tasted delicious! My husband had a sandwich with pulled pork, brisket and hot link slices, while our son had the Isaac Jackson sirloin steak; both were cooked perfectly. And good news...they sell Big Timber beers! We were stuffed, so there was no room to have dessert, but...that's ok, because you can have their signature cinnamon rolls packaged to take home with you! Our wonderful waitress Maddi even wrote congratulations on the box for our son's achievement! We will be back soon to try some more of their dishes. Great things are happening at the 1863...great service and food, new dishes and specialty nights...stop by and check it out!
Had Christmas dinner, almost completely furnished by the 1863 Grill. 3 # of brisket, 1 # each of pulled pork, pulled chicken and Italian sausage! Add to that, two whole racks of ribs! Absolutely the best Christmas meal any of us can remember and all that meat for less the $110.00. The brisket melts in your mouth and the only leftovers we had was about a half # of pulled chicken. Unbelievably delicious food. Didn't even add any sauce to the brisket. Ate some of it plain and some of it as a sandwich. It's the 1863 Grill for our family from now on! You have got to try their carryout!

We always enjoy going to this place, especially on brunch Sundays. Great food and a comfortable atmosphere. We always request Zach as our waiter, he truly makes the experience worth it and treats us like we're family. We will continue to be back for the staff, the ambiance, and of course, the cinnamon rolls!
Sunday July 22 was our 40 wedding anniversary so we took the same route as our Honeymoon and the 1863 Grill was where we had dinner. After texting I found out they were having a soft opening so we went all I can say is WOW the staff treated us like family and the FOOD was great Loaded Nachos 9+, Surf and Turf 9, Prime Rib 8.5+ as a BBQ chef myself I will tell you the Carolina BBQ sauce is in the top 3 I have ever had and the Desserts 9.5+ We will be back and wont wait 40 yrs this time Thanks so much Big Frank And Pam
5 stars isn't enough to rate this great restaurant. My wife and I went there on April 12th for lunch. This was the 2nd time for us and we had a very memorable visit again. We started with the BBQ nachos. I tell ya , those things are what Crack must be like to an addict. We couldn't get enough of them . The wait staff was superb. Very kind and curteous. We do live 1 1/2 hours away but I can see us making the trip for lunch and dinner with no problem.
Met with our family here last evening! We experienced a variety of delicious food, comfortable family atmosphere, with courtesy and friendly server! Thank you 1863, great restaurant!
If you haven't been to the 1863's wing night, you should visit on a Wednesday. The Mango Pineapple, and Bacon Buffalo wings were delicious. My Mom's ribeye was also very tasty. Our server Crystal was very nice and attentive!
Great atmosphere, very informative staff and they have BBQ.....need I say more but they are not limited to just bbq, their menu pretty much covers whatever you may be craving....
I had the sliced smoked briskit sandwich, fries and mac n cheese and it was excellent.
I highly recommend 1863 Grill !
The Mother’s Day deal and price was totally off the hook!!!! We loved it🎉🎈5 * all the way!
I love the food, love the service, but HATE the music! We ate there today. The country music playing was awful! I would prefer no music to that. Play classical, old standards, instrumentals. Or perhaps, just let people eat in peace.
We just ate Easter Brunch at the Grill. Food and Service was excellent. Courtney was an excellent server. She kept our glasses full and the table bused. We always get good service there.
Had prime rib. Wife had sirloin. Both were perfect. Baked potatoes and veggies were also great. Bartender is a nice and friendly guy. Pretty nice place within rock throwing distance of our hotel.
Great little place to eat. Good food, clean place to eat. Our waiter was not very friendly and he is the only reason we took away a star.
Under new management who love the community AND good food! The new bar is terrific and gives the place a whole new vibe. My Rodan + Fields teammates and I hosted an event here. EVERYTHING we ordered was terrific (drinks, appetizers, and a couple of meals). Staff was attentive but not intrusive. The entire experience was just great.
Yum. Yum and yum. We did take out and got the 6 oz sirloin with baked potato. I got the cucumber tomato salad and my wife got grilled asparagus. All done to perfection. Steak was tender and juicy cooked exactly like we asked for. The baked potato was one of the best we've had. My salad was very tasty and fresh. Would absolutely recommend this place if staying in Elkins,WV.
Food was fantastic! The wait staff was a little stand-offish but I suppose that is due to the Covid19 and the fact that I am a stranger to them.
Food was delicious! Only complaint was the roasted squash wasn't cooked. Will definitely be returning!
We used 1863 Appalachian Bistro to caterer a Celebration of Life/Reunion for our family in Philippi. The brought the food to event, setup, served, packaged leftovers, and cleaned-up.
The All-American Buffet was a great spread. We had many options to choose from to satisfy all our guests desires. My gluten-free daughter was able to discuss the menu and ingredients with the two servers during setup to ensure she didn't have an issue. They were awesome and were able to tell her the ingredients they used to make the items that morning.
Velora and Mike were great to work with and I would highly recommend them to caterer your next event!
Thanks for making our event so special - everyone loved the food!
