Review Hunan Express Restaurant - Elkridge

Update: Changed my three stars to one star due to the last visit resulting in a food borne illness after a long hiatus. This place has been a hit or miss for me. Some days the food is really good, some days it’s not. Today it was not so great. Two orders of fried wings & all burnt. The rice was also quite salty.

This Resturant doesn’t deserve any star at all. customer service is below zero. Very rude and arrogant. I am so disappointed in the manner of speaking, approach and the way they receive customers. If there’s a way they can be treated accordingly to be able to render good services, I would advise for such to be done. This restaurant shouldn’t be open until they are schooled in what customer service truly is.

My first time eating from here today, the food was ok I wish they would've put more sauce on the food. I'll try some other dishes in the future.

We really enjoyed the cream cheese wontons and the egg rolls, and my boyfriend loved the pork and broccoli entree with white rice. I got the kung po chicken with fried rice, and found it to be a bit bland. Still rating the restaurant five stars as that is a matter of personal taste and does not reflect on the quality of food or the service :)

This has been my go-to restaurant for fast, tasty Chinese food for years! I'm by no means an expert on the cuisine, but the orange/Gen Tso's chicken have always been delicious, the included white rice full of sticky goodness, and the fried rice dishes great. My orders have always been prepared quickly and accurately, whether phoned in or placed in person. And the dinner portions are HUGE, particularly for the price--a single entree can easily feed two hungry people, or be stashed in the fridge for the next day. As far as the customer service goes, this was several years ago but I haven't seen much (any?) changeover in the staff. Driving home from a (very) late night at work, I decided to chance trying to order just 10 minutes before the restaurant closes...not only did they cheerfully take my order, but when I dashed into the store 12 minutes later (could not catch a break with traffic!), my order was freshly bagged and waiting for me, and my apologies for keeping them late were met only with a genuine smile. As a person who knows first-hand what a hassle restaurant clean-up can be at the end of a night, even without last-minute orders, I cannot overstate how much that impressed me.

The customer service was a horrible and the lady that answered the phone was super disrespectful. I decided to order from new China kitchen on Elkridge and the service was so much better and so is their food.

In the 3+ years that I've been ordering from them I have never had an issue with the food or the service. They are very generous with the portions of food. The lunch special is enough that I am able to share it with someone else! I can't recall ever having an issue with the food itself. It hits the spot every time. I'm so glad that they are still open and nearby.

We thought the food at Hunan Express was pretty good overall. Usually my yardstick for a Chinese restaurant is their hot-and-sour soup, but here it was pretty average. Not bad, but nothing special. The spring rolls were good, probably a little better than most. But the Morengo Delight was fantastic; it’s one of my favorite dishes, and their version was really quite good.
