Review Walnut Grill - Ellisville

I always forget about this place. The food is really terrific. Huge indoor seating area and nice outdoor patio. Great bar. Haven't had anything on their menu that wasn't good. Portions are reasonable though pricy compared to other chain restaurants with similar menus. Problem is their service. Waited almost 10 minutes to get water. Dirty plates weren't taken from our table. Had to wait 10 minutes after we were ready to leave to get the bill, then they wouldn't come back so we could pay. I'm hoping we just had a server on an off night and we'll give them another try but if that's their MO their service is going to put them out of business.

First time at walnut grill and was quite enjoyable. Basic table fare that was executed well. I had a cesar salad, swordfish with baked potato and brownie dessert. The Kentucky mule (a little overpriced) rounded out a very nice meal.

Great food in a beautiful surrounding, also has outside dining with tv. I had the Reuben and loaded baked potato. There were delicious. Our waitress was very professional. I highly recommend this restaurant.

We had the chicken spiedini specials. Very generous servings but not as good as they looked. I also had a glass of wine; I noticed the wine glass was cracked and pointed it out to my waiter. He just brought me an empty glass rather that a fresh pour of wine which was disappointing.

We dined in there Friday night party of 8. The atmosphere was pretty, the area was warm. Our server was great and did the best she could, 5 stars for her! The dinning room is eclectic with walls, but, our poor server had tables everywhere instead of one section. This posed a problem with her not being able to see when refills were needed. Bus staff. What the heck? We were told that they do nothing but clear the table after you leave? Seriously, we had plates stacked up waiting to be cleared during our meal, and no one could step up and help our server clear as we go ? Nor could they refill our water or tea ? We asked our server to bring us pitcher of water and tea and were told they don’t have pitchers ? The food was mediocre and some meats were not prepared as ordered. Half my plate was wrong. The onion soup was great! The Caesar salad had way too much pepper on it. My hubs ordered Spadoni swordfish… came out as a plan piece of fish. It took our food a long time to come out. Given staffing is an issue right now everywhere, they may want to consider making less tables available if they don’t have enough servers. And getting the Bus staff to do more, I sure hope the waiters don’t share their tips with them. Our server was courteous and as attentive as she could be. I’m on the fence if we will go back.,

On Saturday, June 4, 2022, I held a baby shower luncheon for 25 people at Walnut Grill Ellisville, Missouri. The manager, Stephen Sarver, was extremely accommodating to me through the entire process of scheduling, setting up, and follow through. His recommendations were extremely appreciated, as I needed opinions and guidance on a few things. He went out of his way to make it easy for me to come in ahead of time to set up table centerpieces, flowers, and decorations. Our server, Emily was extraordinary! I couldn’t believe she handled the entire room herself and did a phenomenal job! I would highly recommend this location for any upcoming private parties anyone might be hosting in the future.

Was in there 2/26 around 7:30 and stood in the entrance with multiple customers that were being completely ignored by the lady and young man at the host/hostess counter. Walked by more than once, had casual conversation with each other, stood silent, and were not greeting anyone. Despite multiple people looking directly at them, the staff continued to ignore until a lady, waiting for a pick up, greeted the "hostess" who then acknowledged customers in the room for the first time. More than one customer left at this point. Not the customer service I was expecting from this establishment.

We have dined at this location in the past and typically had a good experience. On this occasion we tried to go to the Chesterfield location first but the wait was too long and decided on the Ellisville location. This was not a good experience this time around as it seemed like maybe they were under staffed. Three of our party ordered off the breakfast menu. Eggs were overdone, toast was burned, and bacon was burned. The appetizers were ok, but I thought the mussels should have come with bread, no bread at the table. The tuna tacos were the one item that was prepared correctly. I hope they can correct the issues they are having, always enjoyed dining there in the past.
