Everything is so well thought through. From the cozy and welcoming decor, the delicious cocktails and beers they have to offer, and the food. I need a second to talk about the food. I had the salmon, it was the best salmon I have ever had prepared perfectly 👌. Also, my salad, I usually just get salads to stave off feeling guilty of pigging out on the tasty onion rings we ordered as an appetizer (highly recommend, that BBQ aioli is money!) oh that salad... with the AMAZING dressing, figs, and blue cheese. I didn’t think vegetables could ever be that tasty. My husbands duck was also incredible. I had to wrestle him away from it to try to get a bite. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, our glasses were never empty and they always had a moment to ask how everything was in the midst of a busy service. We are here on our honeymoon and just passing through Ellsworth but this will be the only place we will be going back to a second time. If we lived here this would definitely be the place I’d go to get my ‘foodie’ fix.
TLDR; This place is amazing eat here.
If you want delicious, approachable “gourmet” food, then this is the place and there isn’t anything else like it in the area. The dining space lends to a casual, yet sophisticated ambiance that almost seems like there should be a cigar room with cognac in the back. A dark wooden bar runs the length of the dining room on the right and the cocktail menu is classic with an innovative twist. The Brussels and squash dish listed under “firsts” was a hit of the night! The NY strip steak is a fantastic cut of meat, cooked to perfection with carrots and this delicious and creamy Dijon baked custard. The short rib was pull apart delicious on cloud- like celery root purée and the cherry Mostarda a great accompaniment. Thanks for a fantastic meal, we look forward to all that you will create in the future :))
Visiting the area from Boston for work and stumbled upon this gem! We were all so impressed with the atmosphere, service, cocktails and food! The variety on the menu is fantastic and the food pairing is perfection. Highly recommend the scallops appetizer, short ribs and bucatini clam pasta dinner, although I don’t think you could go wrong with any choice on the menu. Compliments to the chef and all of the wait staff that made this a great dining experience that competes with any Boston restaurant we have experienced. We will be back!
Great atmosphere, very friendly staff, and possibly the best duck I’ve ever eaten. Everyone needs to check this place out.
I highly recommend this restaurant. They have just opened and they have it all together! The food, service, environment and feeling are exceptional! The menu is sophisticated; the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable; the facility is clean and tasteful; the food quality is outstanding. A restaurant that will certainly add to the downtown Ellsworth experience.
Provender is a welcome addition to Ellsworth and the surrounding area. All of our food was spot on. The fries were crispy and fresh. The brussel sprouts were so good we had them in two of our selections. Our friends both had burgers and said they were awesome! My wife had the crusted duck which was cooked perfectly. Our drinks were all good but I wish the beer selection had included some of the local breweries and their excellent brews. I have always loved this spot and the new owners have somehow managed to make it even more inviting! Good job Provender!
Stopped in on Friday night. Was busy but sat at the bar immediately upon arrival. They have rotating beers and a variety of specialty cocktails and wines. Had the Fogtown rotating which was a sour beer. Very good. For dinner, I had the NY strip. It was cooked just as I asked and arrived well rested so juices didn't run out. The onion rings are battered in an almost funnel cake type batter. So good! Especially dipped in the sauce. Fun, lively atmosphere and staff is friendly.
Cool space! The food is amazing very modern! You can tell everyone involved here is very passionate about what they do! Great people who run this place! The Chef is easily top 5 in the whole state!
Had dinner last night and was blown away! The food? Spectacular! Tried the mussels...spectacular, the short rib? Spectacular! The tallow fries? Spectacular! Dessert was a gorgeous chocolate torte with ice cream that was? SPECTACULAR!! Go here, eat their food and drink their wine, you will not be disappointed.
They killed it! Best brunch North of Portland. Very creative, yet approachable menu. Great bloody. Amazing cornbread.
Mimosa flights...!? That's a thing. Did I mention Bourbon Peppercorn Pork Belly Benedict. Yup!
Very attentive service without being overbearing or in the way. They've done a nice job with the renovations, making a comfortable space. You should go.
One of our favorite spots in downtown Ellsworth. Worth a visit and a return and then go back again to see what's new! Thank you for bringing the flavor!
Fruity pebbles pancakes with creme anglais, sweet savory ice cream and bacon jam.
Fried chicken, black pepper biscuits with smoked paprika hollandaise.
Hash and eggs skillet.
Grilled banana bread
Avocado toast.
AMAZEBALLS!!
Fabulous!!!! Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Feels like you are in Old Port. Highly recommend.
What a great place to eat. Staff are great, and friendly. They were super busy, but made sure to let us know they hadn’t forgotten us. Food was amazing, and drinks were too.
A+
Fantastic brunch today! Creative menu, wonderful service, and great ambience! Thank you, thank you!
Our first visit was a huge success! Dinner was amazing! Staff was nice and attentive. Loved the presentation. We will definitely visit again. We will also try their Sunday brunch!!
Very good! Clam chowder was yummy. Roasted brussel sprouts in soy sauce were awesome! Service was perfect. Can't wait to try more.
My friend and I had a fabulous meal there last night. Awesome cocktails, great service with a smile, and a beautiful new look! You must try it yourself for a special night out.
The food and service was great! Thanks again!
Wonderful evening with great food and service! Thank you!
Great meal ...friendly atmosphere!
Best 'Rise of the Oaxacan" around. They're the shiz-nay to my drizzle!
Great restaurant for the Ellsworth Area! We left very happy! Can’t wait to go back again!
Absolutely delicious. Definitely will go back.
Saturday brunch this morning was so perfectly balanced and so thoughtful. Savory and sweet options with equally as balanced and thoughtful cocktails. Beautiful plates, as always by Chef Daron.
Went for Brunch and it was DELICIOUS! It was hard what to choose and I definitely want to come back for more. I can not wait to go for dinner sometime soon!
This place has a romantic, yet historic flair to it. The architecture is beautiful and has been kept to its original structure as much as possible. This is a great place to take a date. The food was delicious! The wine, spirit, and beer selection is great. We will definitely be going back to this place the next time we are in town. And I love the deco style glasses that I drink my beverages from.
Provender Kitchen+Bar has great vintage wood interior with a brick ceiling with booths. Multiple trips now - always good. Cheese biscuits with crab dip, salad, burrata appetizer all so goos. Amazing gnocchi with lamb, lobster dumplings (amazing butter sauce), creme brulee and amazing cocktails! I had a very tender and flavorful pot roast with lobster mac and cheese. My friend had a gnocchi dish that she enjoyed. We were greeted by a friendly hostess/server-- on this busy Thursday night and we felt grateful we were able to get a table.
We stopped in for dinner at Provender after reading good reviews. We were warmly greeted by staff, and sat at the bar. The owner was behind the bar and very kindly answered all the dietary questions we had. I ordered the orange duck which was incredible, and my friend got a steak. These were hands down the best dishes we had over 10 days of traveling through Maine. Plus the atmosphere was fun and lively with locals. We would go back in a heartbeat!
The food at this place is excellent. Their truffle fries are easily one of the best I've ever had, and wagyu beef tartare was absolutely delicious. This sandwich is also really good. Service was also excellent and swift even during peak hours.
Another successful night at Provdender. We still have not found a dish that hasn’t knocked our socks off. The poutine tonight remained crispy in the gravy and the cheese curds..!! The chicken parm was enormous, flavorful and cut like butter. Their duck is the best I’ve had and the garlic boulé is the dish I miss every time it leaves the menu. The star of the night was the chocolate bread pudding topped with dolce ice cream and surrounded by toasted marshmallow dollops. Thank you to Billy, Jason and Daron for taking such good care of us . You’re missing out if you have not tried this treasure of a spot.
Fantastic. Truly fantastic. Food is great, atmosphere is great, etc. Only downside is the portions are small, so it's definitely worth it to get appetizers. The brussel sprouts are to die for. I will be going back
This place is incredible!! The atmosphere walking in is beautiful with woodwork and dome sealing. Our server Billy was very kind and helpful making sure it was a perfect night! Everyone in staff was so so sweet as chef Jason and Daren prepared us a little special treat! I am so shocked with the amazing experience I wasn’t expecting as we were just casually looking for somewhere to eat. To top it off the food was top notch incredible, very unique, flavorful and clearly made with love. Thank you Provender Kitchen and bar!!
This spot is a GEM and the single best place we ate at while visiting Acadia National Park and the surrounding area. We were greeted warmly by Joy (owner) who let us know that, while we didn't have a reservation on a busy Saturday night, they would be able to squeeze us in for dinner. We had a drink at a brewery just down the street and were seated sooner than expected.
We were seated and started talking with Daron (owner). Daron was friendly, knowledgeable, and so intentional. He advised us on each dish and shared about his experience as a chef and starting Provender's with his wife. His passion for his food and restaurant are so evident. The food was absolutely amazing--my husband especially loved the steak and the duck was so flavorful. The only thing better than our meal was the staff.
Truly, the atmosphere, food, and kindness of this staff were one of the highlights of our entire trip and we can't say enough wonderful things about them! We would absolutely recommend Provender's to everyone in the area. Skip Bar Harbor and come straight here--you won't regret it!
This was the best meal of our entire honeymoon and perhaps it might be the best meal of our entire lives. Everything about Provender was perfect! The food, the atmosphere, and the service were top notch! We ordered the bison tartare for an appetizer, and the pesto chicken and steak dishes for our entrees and ended the evening with lemon meringue. All of our dishes were perfectly balanced and you could taste the love and care in every bite! We were able to meet the chef, Daron and thank him in person for the meal! Just so you know, in order to eat here you need to book an online reservation that would take a deposit to hold your spot. After your meal you will be refunded your deposit! If you can get a reservation, this is an absolute must do!!!
I sat at the bar. I had the Tater Tots. This was an outstanding dish! Just the perfect amount of this and that. I also had the spicy margarita. They have some interesting cocktails to choose from. They could probably use one more bartender to bump that service to 5 star. Great staff.
Our favorite Downeast restaurant. Plenty of people dressed casual, but also well suited for a fancy night out. The food is to die for. If in doubt, get the truffle fries and PKB burger. But every menu item we've had has been the best version of it we've had. The bartenders also do an excellent job... this is the first place since moving to Maine that has nailed my drink of choice.
Everything about our experience was enjoyable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was charming. They have a selective and unique menu. The food was amazing and presented beautifully! If you're anywhere near Ellsworth, it's definitely worth going out of your way to eat here.
My husband and I love coming here the scallops are cooked perfectly and the short ribs are the best. We love how the menus are always changing to try new dishes. Highly recommend stopping in for a bite, you won’t regret it!
Cute little restaurant with amazing food. We had the brussel sprouts appetizer, then I had the lobster gnocchi. Definitely a memorable meal. Alcoholic drinks were small for the price, but equally delicious.
Food was great. I had the burger and my wife had scallops. Owner, Darren, could not have been more kind. Even treated us to some lobster bisque which was incredible. We will be back. Highly recommend the truffle fries.
We simply love this place. Everytime we come into town and visit nearby, we have to stop in for some delicious dinner! The chef is so creative, food at its highest quality and service impeccable. I would highly recommend stopping in for dinner if you are in the area, you will be extremely happy!
We went to the Provender 08/22/23 right when they opened. We had a reservation for 4pm and didn’t realize that was the time they opened, so we got there just a couple minutes early. Staff were so welcoming and sat us immediately. The atmosphere was great. We got cocktails, appetizers, entrees, and desserts - all were amazing! My husband and I both agreed that the prices were very appropriate for the portion size and quality of the food. We will definitely be returning!
Can’t stress enough how great this place is. If you’ve had a bad experience here, chances are you’re salty. This crew strives for excellence time after time and they dare to do more than most in the surrounding areas. Very lucky to have a restaurant like this in my town. Cocktails to entrees, always on point
Atmosphere, service, friendly chef.. everything about this place is a 10 out of 10. A total hidden gem. You have to eat here. Please. For me.
