Mi Tio Dulis Rediscovered. It is years now since this Uruguayan meat emporium dropped the uncle's name in favor of, simply, Mi Tio. It has been a substantial enough amount of time that I floundered in recalling the name, although, I did have the -ulis part. A Mi Tio staffer was kind enough to fill in the blank with Dulis. My last repast, say some six years ago, the establishment was already renamed as Mi Tio. Enough about trivial pursuits and the restaurant's original name.
Diners come to Mi Tio for the grilled meat, whether their choice is beef or pork. The offerings are in the form of steaks, numerous offal cuts, and sausages. Yes, Mi Tio has the usual Italian menu items also found in many of the Argentinean and Uruguayan restaurants that feature grilled fare. Yes, the Italian menu items that I have eaten are very good on their own merit.
Alas, Mi Tio is a celebration of skirt steak, beef ribs, intestines, sweetbreads, blood sausages, pork chops, and other precisely grilled animal parts. Of these, I only have yet to partake of the pork chops. I recommend the mixed grill platter to get a good cross sample.
Mi Tio does have a dessert menu with an array of choices if you should still have the room for it. Cortados and espressos are available for the finish.

Good cheap steak. Although I live only 2 blocks away from this gem I had never thought to giving it a try. A friend had mentioned he tried this place several years ago and it was terrible. The food was bad and ambiance was non-existant.

However, I immediately surprised when i walked in and was immediately greated with updated decore and friendly waitstaff. I ordered the full skirt steak, cooked medium-rare. It came out perfect!!! The German potato salad was also outstanding.

For a relatively cheap steakhouse, Mi Tio can't be beat. I'll be back soon enough.

I actually wrote about Mi Tio a while ago (over 4 years ago now), but recently returned to see if it was still worth all the fond memories I have of this place. As I mention in that post, I've been going to this place since my father was still alive. It u

Even though it seems they have changed management, it's still the best skirt steak around! Some other minor changes like the beans should have been left alone. Great family environment and reasonably priced. Everyone I have ever introduced to this restaurant always comes back!

Dont spend Your money at Longhorns, Outback or Red Lobster for a good steak. If You happen to find Yourself craving red meat while in the Queens Center Mall vicinity, do Yourself, stomach and wallet a favor.
