It ended in a split decision. MY GF is a vegan and has tried their offerings four times and has yet to be impressed, although the fourth was more favorable than the first three times as I had a hard time getting her to try the place again. I on the other hand really like it, especially the fish with Cajun spices they offer blackened. I have dined on the vine covered patio and it is special ... what a feel ... and likewise what a view of the harbor area. Have also dined inside in the winter with the fireplace going. Really enjoyed both seasons there. I though the place was fairly reasonable and unlike my GF, I would suggest you try the place. In keeping with honesty, of all the times I have been there, this was the first I had a real sourpuss waitress that barked at me for asking a couple very simple menu questions. Thus the start was not good but the amazing patio atmosphere soon made me forget we had a puss face taking care of us. Again, split decision here, one thumbs up the other, thumbs down. It is worth your going to decide in my book.

We met up another couple recently for dinner and drinks to celebrate birthdays and I have to admit...we had a little trepidation due to many tepid reviews.

However, we were all pleased with our meals, the server, Shirley, was first-rate, and to top it off, the food was 50% off because we were arrived between 4-6 pm during Winter hours!

I started off with the She-Crab bisque, and it was amazing. I ordered the blackened Marlin (catch of the day) and it took me back to my days in N. Palm Beach living across the street from the Famous Atlantic Seafood Co. when outstanding, fresh seafood was a weekly occurrence. The rest of our group was very pleased with their selections of filet mignon, chicken and salad.
You might want to give this hidden gem another play...like us, you may be pleasantly surprised. And you just can't beat the view

We almost didn't stop here for lunch because of the urbanspoon rating but I am so glad that we did. My husband and I were with 2 other couples and none of us could complain about the service or the food. Our waitress was great, she greeted us immediately, took our drink order (even explained that drinks had to be served in a plastic cup because we were outside) and shortly after returned for our food order. The menu had a lot of choices- italian to seafood to sandwiches. I can't find much to complain about- we would definitely go back!

Waterfront treat. Perhaps just a tad "stale" but certainly well-prepared food. Definitely a plus if you like seafood, otherwise the selection is limited. Wonderful place to eat and enjoy the bay.

She crab soup still best west of the Appalachians. Coconut shrimp with the mango dipping sauce the best. Love their winter special happy hour. Half off Appetizers and main course.

High prices for average quality food. Service is not overly attentive, I was never asked for a refill on my drink or the rest of the party. Definitely try the chocolate cake, although it is not made on site.

Great Lunch Spot with a view!!!. I went to Smugglers Wharf this past summer and I was very pleased with the food and service. The sandwich selection was great. You also have a lot of sides to choose. There are also great local beers to try. It was very nice dining outside with a view of lake Erie. I would try Smugglers Wharf if you are looking for a nice lunch spot in Erie!

Our "go to' spot in Erie. We very much enjoyed our lunch at Smugglers Wharf. The redhead ordered the daily quiche from the brunch menu and she enjoyed it. I decided to order the perch with tomato basil rice and sauted zucchini and squash. Both dishes were well proportioned and priced accordingly. This was our second time here and there will be more...

Nice place. Sat outside to enjoy the view. Well covered with natural greenery to keep the sun out. "Catch of the Day" sandwich very good. Drinks priced too high. I don't pay those prices in Charlotte, NC. Overall, a good dining experience. Waitress very attentive and friendly. Food was good and couldn't beat the view.

Great Service, Good Food. By far the best service I have ever had in Erie. I'm not big on seafood but I enjoyed the crabcake sandwich I had. Also, the jalapeno hummus is delicious. My girlfriend also enjoyed her food. It's a bit pricey but I feel that it is worth it.

Seafood at its finest in Erie!. Smugglers is great anytime of the year, but they run awesome off-season specials (such as their happy hour/early bird special - everything on the menu is 50% off between the hours of 4pm and 6pm).

The crab cakes are to die for! Prime rib is also a great choice, and their "catch of the day" has been fabulous every time I've had it. They have a number of soups that are excellent also, filled with flavor and just delicious! Best seafood in Erie, if you ask me!

The service is almost always great as well and the atomsphere is fun. You can sit outside when it is warm, overlooking the bay. The inside of the restaurant gives you the feeling of being on an old ship (without the sea sickness!).

Lunch by the Bay. I stopped in for a little soup and salad lunch while in town for business. The restaurant offers a scenic view of the bay and the outdoor seating is wonderful on a sunny fall day (but you do have to continuously shoo away the bees!) The wedge salad was fresh, crisp and tasty. The clam chowder was rich, hot, thick and very good. The local brew "Mad Anthony's Ale" is not bad either!

Casual Lakeside Dining. If you are looking for a good place to sample the local fare, Smuggler's Wharf is the place to go. The restaurant is located along Lake Erie. There is outside dining on a wrap around porch where you can enjoy a nice view of the sunset on Lake Erie. The dishes are proportioned on the large side - so make sure you save some room for dessert! I recommend the catch of the day grilled. The ahi tuna tends to be overcooked even when you ask for it rare. Word of caution, if you are sitting outside, you will be drinking out of plastic cups. Not sure what "safety measure" that is protecting us from. Drinks don't look that great in the plastic cup, but they don't skimp on the alcohol. Minor details which do not take away from a great evening out with your friends.

Such a cozy place! Stopped in for dinner on Saturday right at five and got a table near the fireplace right away. View of the water is incredible. I had the Lobster Roll and a side order of Old Bay Potatoes, both delicious! Hubby had a seafood pasta dish that he loved. Highly recommend and I know we’ll go back next time we’re in town.

Recently had the opportunity to have dinner, with an out of town guest. I chose Smugglers from prior, positive experiences. This was no exception. We had excellent service, along with being served large portions, that were perfectly prepared. The quality of the food, itself was exceptional. I personally had swordfish, and it was amazing. My friend from California can't wait to return here, just to try something different at Smugglers. Highly recommended

So good!!!! Like "I can die now" so good. There is a wait on Friday and Saturday that is very worth it. You won't be disappointed. The food is dynamite and the staff are very friendly and attentive.

My husband and I decided to eat here since it was close to our hotel we were staying at while visiting the area. We were seated promptly, but it did take some time for our server to greet us. However, they were very busy with the dinner rush, so that didn't make or break anything. Our server was very friendly and accomodating. Our drinks from the bar were made perfectly, so we ended up with a few. My husband had the prime rib and I had the perch - both meals were delicious. Our server did forget the coconut shrimp appetizer, but she gladly got it for us after we reminded her. I'm a (part-time) server too, so we were very understanding at how easy it can be to forget something. Overall, we had a great experience and will definitely be back! The *only* downside I will point out, is that the structure that covers the outside deck is very rotted and quite a liability issue. I understand the pricing for materials is astronomical right now, but it not safe - especially if the deck is being used in the summer.
