The exquisite morsel, consisting of dough and icing, arrived in a simple brown bo,x which harkened back to the companies humble beginnings in Outer Banks, North Carolina.
It's warmth radiating from within was only a precursor to its freshness. As I opened the container, I was assured of its purpose: This delectable donut was not made for just anyone. Nay! It meant solely for myself! Made mere minutes after my request, in the precise configuration of my order! Such speed and accuracy must be of divine origins!
I dared not pick it up with my lowly hands, for they were not fit to carry such a burden of pure ecstasy. My fork and knife dissected the perfect snack in front of me, and with a small portion loaded onto my fork, I stabbed the godly piece of confectionery perfection into my mouth.
An array of angels arrived in such grandeur, with trumpets of sweetness played throughout the modest donut shop. I could feel the warmth of their wings gusting all around me. The texture was like heavenly clouds, and the flavor as brilliant as the brightest lights of the heavens.
This donut was not meant for mortal men. It is a divine palate that is more deserving than I, but I thank you, Duck Donuts, for allowing me a glimpse of such heavenly tastes.
Fell in live with Duck Donuts while on vacation in Corolla. I was walking distance from that location and noticed a long line everyday, must be good right? We walked up and waited in line 45 minutes. At first we were only going to try them, but after a 45 minute wait and hearing everyone in line say they were the best, it only made sense we get a dozen. Glad we did, they were fantastic, made to order, different varieties of toppings for them. The maple bacon is decadent. Now every time I pass one, my car just starts veering towards it, uncontrollable...lol..
I'm not fond of donuts. I find them to be too sweet,dry, and not worth the calories but I've heard these are like no other. I stopped to try 1, yes 1 as everyone around me were ordering dozens. I liked I could customize it and it was to me quick! It was amazing, like a delicious oven fresh cake with my fav toppings! I would recommend them to everyone & will bring people visiting because they are that good!
Donuts are delicious, but so heavy you can't eat them all the time. Makes a nice treat now and then. Less is more---there are some crazy toppings, but the plain glazed and cinnamon sugar are best.
Came in around 8:30 on a Sunday morning. Had about a 10 minute wait in total. Best donuts I have EVER had! I can’t wait to go back! I loved being able to watch them make them, very neat experience.
This place is crazy-good. Do not skip....it's donuts man and they are really really good.

This place is amazing. I've tried peanut butter frosting with chocolate sprinkles, chocolate frosting with chopped peanuts, and strawberry icing with rainbow sprinkles. The iced coffee is faboulous. Viva OBX!
I ordered half a dozen donuts, but for sure a fresh maple bacon donut is what made my trip here! The bacon is just thick enough to be juicy and complements well with the maple syrup and warm fresh cake donut!
It's a shame that I didn't find this place earlier~

I moved here from the Outerbanks so I have been to the original Duck Donuts a lot over the past 20 some years. There is something that just doesn't catch the true authentic flavor. These are good and since the Outerbanks is hours away I will still eat these when I get a "longing for home", but there is a difference. Maybe it's the salt air. But these do not taste the same, still good but different. Enough that I noticed it at first bite and came home and googled if the recipe had been changed. Maybe as another person mentioned in their review its the fixing of the donuts but I got cinnamon sugar, plain, and two with chocolate. Kinda hard to say the taste was off due to toppings when it is a plain donut! Also the inside of the donut seemed much lighter in color than what I get at home. Still a good donut though. The person who took my order was not friendly, a little off putting, it was like she was not awake yet. I was the only customer but the young girl who handed me the finished product was very sweet.
Outstanding food, but the staff was overwhelmed the day we went. They either lost part of our order, or gave it to another customer. After waiting for 20 minutes to hear the on-line order was ready, I had to interrupt one of the workers to inquire on the status of the order. She had to reprint the ticket to assemble the donuts, meaning our breakfast sandwiches were sitting on the counter getting cold. We'll be back since the food is so good, but hope they don't experience the same issues next time.
I love duck donuts. It's a little bit frazzling putting in the order because there are SO many options, buy I always fet just one plain because I love the crispy outside and cakes inside. Yum yum!

Duck Donuts is not your father's doughnut shop. If you are thinking Dunkin Donuts or Krispy Kreme, then think again. Duck Donuts is on a different almost unimaginable level. Try the bacon and maple syrup iced donut.
