If your looking for a casual place with great food and exceptional drinks you will not find a better place in New Bedford. The owner and staff greet everyone who walks through the door and makes them feel welcome from the start. With the motto of "Live. Give. Relax." there really isn't a better place in the south coast.

With a perfect blend of comfort and sophistication Whaler's Tavern is a true local gem. The 8 table restaurant never became nosey and even as the bar began to fill in the only thing more consistent than the quality of food was the amazing level of service that we received! From the moment you walk through the door you are greeted by smiles and an overall feeling that all of the staff are happy to see you and excited to ensure that you have a wonderful night out! They love what they do and that passion was poured into every plate that was put on our table. The buffalo chicken wings were perfectly crispy with a nice hint of heat; our entire table was convinced that they were coal fired! Overflowing with a more than generous abundance of claw meat and two tails the lobster rolls deserve a review all on their own! Served with a side of warm drawn butter and mayo my seafood obsessed husband is still singing your praises! My Cubano came out at the perfect time (the 1st round of Rocky Don's was kicking in) and the smokey pulled pork and salty ham pressed between a perfectly crispy and chewy buttery roll dripping with melted cheese was out of this world! From appetizers to our main courses every bite made love to your mouth, sparked your senses and in the end The Whaler's Tavern captured our hearts. Tucked away on the quintessential cobblestones they take bold local flavors and remind you of why New Bedford is such a fun city for foodies!

Overall this was a fun place to grab a late lunch. Dive bar with a scuba-theme. Staff/service was average though it was a bit awkward when we first walked in. We were not sure if we were supposed to seat ourselves or wait. We wandered into the game room then back to the bar side before being seated. Facility- One room is a small dive bar with bar seating and tables. The adjoining room is a game room with pool tables and some games. The restrooms are located between the rooms. What we got: STUFFED QUAHOG $8 - it was Tasty (Chopped clam, linguica, ritz cracker with drawn butter and lemon wedge) I made mine spicy. Spicy was still very mild LOBSTER BISQUE$13/cup- left something to be desired CRUNCHY COD FISH AND CHIPS $22- (Deep fried cod fillet battered in cornflakes and almonds, served french fries and coleslaw.) This was really good the fries were very tasty! The fish has a super crunch that we found very appealing. Drinks- Quahog Republic Golden Ale- very good. Parking is available on site

The Orange Whiskey Sour was amazing, and the Clam Chowder / Quahog Baked Clam Combo was amazing. The bartender was outstanding. Highly recommend to anyone traveling through Falmouth, and I'll definitely stop back again the next time I visit Cape Cod..

Came in for clam chowder as we were on a Cape Cod clam chowder tour. Best chowder we've had so far. It's supposed to be a "dive" bar but it's got decent food and a good mix of beverages. Very local, had a good chat with the folks at the bar and the bartender is super friendly.

We always try to find a place new when we visit Cape Cod and this time it was Quahog Republic. I am glad we picked this place! The ambiance of a local dive bar where the other patrons know each other and playful banter fill the bar. Lots of local beer selections and they even had a blend of whiskey they had produced with Cleveland Underground. The food was amazing. We got the quahog and chowder, chili fries, and chili. Every singe one of the dishes was perfection. Having been out to a fancy dinner the night before, I would rather have been here!

Unpretentious eatery that, mid-winter on a quiet Sunday afternoon, brought exactly the Cape seafood experience I was looking for. In town and wanting to introduce my west coast friend to east coast lobster — we got the fish and chips, quahog chowder, and lobster roll to share. The lobster was tender enough that we could enjoy the different textures of tail meat vs. claw meat. This is a local eatery—play to its strengths, order local food, try one of their local beers, and enjoy. We did. …and a shout out to our lovely waitress, who made my California friend feel welcome.

Food was good even the coleslaw ☺️it’s hard to find a restaurant that serves great coleslaw without overdoing it with mayo! I had the beer burger ‘no bun’ with Swiss cheese and it was scrumptious! My husband had the chowder and we went back for more to bring home to MD. The wings were different with the parmesan crust but a little too salty for me. Overall I would go here again and eat! Turn the lights up a little 😉

You would never know that there was a restaurant in this plaza. Food is good, but portions not that large. Gets very crowded, especially in bar area. The day we visited something was very off w/ the lobster bisque, apparently the batch made had 5 times more salt than usual & everyone was sending it back (would have been helpful for customers to know this right off the bat & not serve it). Great time to be had in bar area, many people playing Keto. Staff very friendly.

We went for fried clams, never expecting that with clams in their name that they wouldn't have them on the menu. My error for not checking. My fish and chips was excellent. The cornflake almond batter was delicious - light and crispy. The fish tasted fresh. Fries and coleslaw were good as well. My husband's stuffed scallop and hot dog were not great. The scallop walked through the stuffing and out and the hot dog looked like it had been cooked and reheated because it was dry and shriveled. I wanted to like the place. It has a very friendly vibe and music. We will give it one more try.

The best lobster roll I’ve had the pleasure of eating when dining out. I ordered a cup of chili and truffle park fries and they were both spectacular too. Highly recommend this place.
