Best lunch spot around. Simply the freshest salad bar I have seen, also a Variety of thin crust pizzas to select from. The staff if friendly and wants to accommodate.
This is my favorite place to eat lunch in the area. I love their flat bread pizzas that they make in their giant brick oven. Some of there pizzas are the traditional ones you'd expect, like pepperoni or sausage. But others like their garlic, cheese, and basil pizzas are to die for. They also have a Nutella pizza pie, and a great salad bar. They include all of this for all you can eat for less than $11 currently. They also have beer and wine. The soft drinks (which are limited to only a few choices) are also included in the buffet. Unfortunately the buffet is only during the week for lunch.
The reviewers that berate Tomatoes are mundane Midwestern folk who have grown up on a very processed fluffy and terribly deformed version of what pizza was/is and should be... My parents are New Yorkers and raised me to be true pizza snob... Thus part of tomatoes charm is its slight grittiness, whether its the burnt edges or frank service, that's about as true to buying a New York slice as can be. To understand good pizza you have to appreciate its simplicity and that is how you know it is good , when excess toppings and perfectly baked processed pies don't have to take place because the rustic-ness is enough to pleasure the palate... That is when you know you have reached pizza nirvana.
Delicious. I came with some co-workers for the buffet at lunch. I couldn't believe how much we got for our money. There was so much variety. I can't even decide which is my favorite pizza though I think it's the crab. The owner was very nice and Lindsay is so amazing!
Absolutely my favorite for years!. Try their green pizza or seafood...
Fantastic! Have gone there consistently for the past couple years. Best pizza In the world....and I've eaten a lot of pizza.
Such awesome pizza! I went here on a 2nd date with my boyfriend. He had once traveled to Italy, claimed this pizza is better than the ones he had in Italy! Tried it, LOVED IT. Eat it, love it.
Great thin crust pizza. Love this place. A nice variety of pizza all on thin crispy crust. Can't remember the name of the salad with chick peas in it, but it's delicious. The buffet is the best value and you get to try the different kinds of pizzas they offer. I bought one for carry out once, but when I got it home the crust had gotten a little soggy. Would recommend eating at the restaurant.
Thin Crust - The Best!. The best gourmet, thin crust pizza I have had!
Great crispy pizza. The pizza is thin and the pepperoni were crispy and cupped with a little grease in each one - mmmmm! Was a bit expensive for a pizza dinner, but worth the money for a monthly treat.
Fantastic Pizza. I started going here years ago after hearing about it on Drew and Mike. I was going expecting it to be some really fancy restaurant but was surprised to find it was just a small place with a few tables. The owner was making the pizzas and was very nice. The pizza was a revelation for me. It's a thin crust pizza with a variety of fresh toppings. There are a few different styles such as classic, green and white. After years of eating mediorcre pizza from all the major chains, I've learned that the secret to good pizza is a good balance of sauce, crust and no more than a few fresh toppings. Tomatoes Apizza does it right. They've since expanded the size of the original location and opened a second location.
As for the comparison with out Detroit pizza joints..well….Tomatoes Apizza and Buddy’s are two different kinds of pizza. I like both of them for different reason and since no one is holding a gun to my head and making me choose, I won’t.
So much healthier and faster than fast food. I love that when I am hungry I can come in and the salad bar is ready with fresh delicious ingredients. On weekdays there is a lunch buffet that includes pizza and salad and drinks. This place is wonderful!
Ranked Top 25 Pizzas in US by several national publications, so had to give this local home town pizza a try. First impression very good. Very fresh and tasty. I'm very familiar with neopolitan style growing up on the East Coast. We had the 1/2 Classic with pepperoni, green peppers, mushrooms and onions added. On the other half we had 1/2 green with Onion. Green peppers, mushrooms and chicken. A pie for the mature palates. Definitely will return, definitely will recommend, definitely worth trying.
Great place, last min late night meal. They were open until 10 so it worked out. Had a couple pizzas and the salad bar. Staff was attentive. I'm from Chicago so not a traditional pizza from my perspective, but pretty good. If it's late it's a great option.
BEST PIZZA, Every single time! Very authentic Sicilian pizza, crust is out of this world, ingredients are all high quality and fresh! We drive from grosse pointe, can't get enough! (The pics are from three separate visits!)
Ordered from Tomatoes Apizza for the first time yesterday. We usually order from Biga, as they have gluten free pizza, but wanted to change it up. Tomatoes does not have gluten free options, but does have a decent amount of salads to choose from. My husband ordered the mozzarella, crab and garlic pizza. It looked unbelievably delicious, and received two thumbs up. I had the Caesar salad, which was above average.
You can order online, which was really easy. The staff was great. It was fun to see the pizza oven and see the pizzas being made.
I‘m happy that this place with the atypical pizza exists here in the suburbs of Detroit area. I love this kind of pizza. They use simple but really good quality ingredients. It’s delicious!!
