So where do I begin. Quaint surroundings, friendly people, clean, gardens I look forward to seeing this summer, a lovely porch and patio for outside dining, and a quaint little antique shop attached. But then you get to eat the most delicious food.... We have eaten in the most expensive places and food was not always this good. The tomatoe bisque soup was wonderful with a flavor that hinted of several herbs and had a slight kick to it. With his we had a panini with chicken, and a combination of a cheese with fresh greens and tomato that was outstanding. It was large enough I had the second half for dinner. We brought home dessert for the family and this was truly special. Blackberry pie. Best I ever had. The berries were fresh and just sweet enough. Ginger Creme Brûlée- original and superb! All homemade. A chocolate cappuccino torte on a choc crumble crust. - again superb! Cookies that had I think~ golden raisin oatmeal with almonds Crispy on the outside and moist inside. I don't remember the last time I was moved to bother mentioning a cafe or anybody's food but this is worth it! I am mixed between giving this Wonderful family owned and operated cafe the credit they deserve and wanting to keep it to myself so I can always get a seat! Thank you Brett and family for a wonderful culinary experience in a homey mountain setting!! Bon appetit!!

Amazing place. The food is worth a trip. I would even drive 1.5 hours just to eat there. Darling and fun atmosphere. Excellent service. And, the food is amazing -- very unique. We had the carrot cake (because the Park Ranger said it's a must try), so we did. It is the best I ever had. The Bitter Burger was also the best I've ever had. Our friends had the pies and also said that it was unlike anything they've ever had before. Can't wait to go back. - Girllikestoeat

I'm turning a regular of this place. Place is cozy; with a friendly enviroment and a friendly staff. You can immediately tell that everything is homemade, the burger is great, the BLT, the grilled cheese, the waffles, the lasagna and The Bird sandwich was exceptional and I don't even mind spending $20 to $25 every time I go. Keep up the good work!

This is literally my FAVORITE go-to place! The staff, extraordinarily friendly, the environment is warm, welcoming, cozy, just lovely. The food!! I am gluten-free and try to eat clean and they not only accommodate but it's truly clean and it's all so tasty and delicious! I would give them 500 stars if it were an option. Bittersweet is THE best!

Beautiful, cozy, rustic and charming spot with absolutely incredible coffee and food. My husband and I were blown away with how delicious the breakfast sandwich was! We bought two coffee mugs too and they have become my favorite mug! Only mug I can pour my water into my French press with out spilling a drop. 😄

Bittersweet is the cutest place ever. The food is all local, homemade and delicious. And the service...well, let’s just say that when Thursday is pie baking day, but you request a pie for a birthday celebration on Wednesday, Terri goes out of her way to make it happen! Thank you so very much for going above and beyond! 💕

This place feels like one big warm hug. The place is beautifully decorated. The food is exceptionally tasty. The service excellent and the exterior spaces rival any nearby nature preserve. What was also memorable was their "Pay It Forward" Board. You need to check this place out in person to learn what it is all about. Doing something good for someone you haven't met. High Fives to the staff. They have set the bar high for every other dining establishment.

Have you ever been to a place where you can tell that the owners have poured their heart and soul into it? That's Bittersweet Cafe. Everything about this place exudes care, love and kindness. The food is phenomenal, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, and you can tell they care about the people they serve. The scripture quoted on the walls is not just decoration; it is a testament to their mission and values. ...and if all of this doesn't matter to you and you just want some good food, then this is still the place for you. The Bittersweet Burger is in the top 3 burgers that I've ever had. You gotta try this place. You won't be disappointed.

This place was awesome! The atmosphere was great! I loved being able to eat outside surrounded by all the plants and flowers. My kids said it was like eating in the middle of an enchanted garden! It was our first time trying Bittersweet Cafe and my kids gave it a 2 thumbs up and 10 stars each! They want to go back again tomorrow! So this will definitely be a place we visit again the next time we are in the area! We definitely recommend this place!!

Such a beautiful gem we stumbled upon in our travel in the area! The staff were warm and friendly, the atmosphere was cozy and positive, full of thoughtful scripture. You can tell there’s a lot of love and kindness here, and it transcends into interactions with customers and care that goes into food and drink. My mom LOVED the pie, my smoothie bowl was DELICIOUS, and both of our drinks were the perfect warm pick me up. This place is a definite gem!

We saw the smaller location downtown Ohiopyle but it just happened to be closed when we were passing through. Lo and behold, we passed this one up and it did not disappoint!!! The absolute cleanest and coziest vibes, thoughtful touches, balanced and interesting flavors from a staff that really cares about what they do. A gem!!!

This was a great experience. I was hoping to find a good coffee place where I can sit and do work in the area ... Being from Accident, MD there wasn't many options. I passed this place on my way home from OhioPyle and made a point to come back the next day with work in hand. I spent a few hours there and tried a smoothie, salad, and Mac and cheese. The food was excellent! The salad was filling and fresh. The atmosphere was delightful - work spaces for inside and outside. So glad to have this friendly shop within 20 miles! Edit: I went back recently and did not have the best experience! There were at least 4 employees in the back and yet waiting on the patient at the cash register appeared to be "no one's job." The Mac and Cheese which had me craving it the first time around was seasoned with way too much pepper. Salad was still fresh and great! Sandwich special was not very filling. Will try it one more time for a tie breaker experience!

My mother and I stopped for a bite to eat on Friday after road-tripping to Ohio from Maryland. We enjoyed the food and atmosphere so much, we decided to stop and eat again on Monday on our way back home! You won’t be disappointed.

Stopped by for lunch before hiking this afternoon and we arrived just in time as a long line formed within 10 minutes of placing our order. Ordered The Bird with a side of cole slaw to share with hubby and it was delicious. The chicken was tender and the roasted tomatoes perfectly complimented the sandwich. Hubby enjoyed the cole slaw and a side order is more than enough for 2 people. They serve the food on branded boards which was a nice touch and the outdoor seating area is so peaceful, like dining in a secret garden.
