First off, ask for Lindsey! My husband and I just moved to Fishers today, we didn't feel like cooking so we decided to go out to eat. We chose Wild Ginger because a family friend had recommended we try their Crab Rangoon Roll. The atmosphere is quaint, quiet, yet sophisticated in a way. The service was superb and Lindsey knew exactly what we should try as first time customers. We started out with an order of Calpico Mango Yogurt Juice (typically served in a bottle alongside a glass of ice, but Lindsey poured it into a wine glass with ice for us), and an appetizer of Steamed Shumai Dumpling - Combonation. The drink isn't thick like yogurt, but thin like juice typically is. It does, however, have a slight yogurt aftertaste. The dumplings were superb and full of flavor, you could really tell the difference in each dumpling. My husband ordered the Dinner Combo #3 and I ordered Dinner Combo #4, we got them and the way they were presented was astonishing (see attached photo)! The difference between 3 and 4 is whether you want chicken or salmon. The chicken was a little dry, but the salmon was delicious!!! A slight smokey flavor. Each dinner combo comes with a salad and a miso soup. The dressing on the salad is mesmorizing. Lindsey said people would drink the dressing by itself, and I see why! The miso soup was light but flavorful. The rest of the dish of the dinner combos are: tempura vegetables, a spring roll, a potato cake, a bowl of rice, and your choice of a 6 piece california roll, 3 piece of chef choice nigiri, or 3 piece chef choice sashimi. Let's go in the order I have them listed. The tempura veggies were Carrot, Sweet Potato, Asparagus, Squash, and Shrimp (I know, not a veggie). They also came with a bowl of tempura sauce. My husband hates carrots and sweet potatoes, but he loved these in tempura form. Next, the spring roll! Although tiny, it was about 1.5 inches long, it was jam packed with flavor. It was the best spring roll I have ever had. The potato cake. Oh my gosh, this masterpiece of fried potato with some veggies in it about made me cry. I would just eat those and be satisfied. The rice was perfectly done, not stiff from undercooking, and stuck together well enough to eat with chopsticks! Now, my husband got the 6 piece california roll, and I got the 3 piece nigiri. We opted out of getting the shashimi this time. The california roll was so fresh! The avacado was perfectly ripened, you could just taste the seaweed, the rice was perfect just like the bowl of rice. My nigiri tonight was tuna, salmon, and white fish. The tuna just fell apart in your mouth, the salmon was marbled beautifully and tasted like I just caught it out of a stream (it made my husband cry and he is huge about good salmon), and finally the white fish...this was my first time having it and just like the tuna it fell apart in my mouth! Now, we didn't order the Crab Rangoon Roll tonight, but we got their "oh so popular" Mistake Roll, but Lindsey added the sauce from the Crab Rangoon Roll. This roll is heavy but full of flavor! Each piece just as flavorful as the last I just wanted to keep eating it. All-in-all, this was a perfect meal to have on our first night in a new town, and we WILL be returning!
Best part, we left feeling like we may have eaten a little too much, and a check just shy of $65 was well worth it!!!!!
