Hubba Hubba is a slightly hidden gem in the heart of historic Flat Rock.
They prove that America’s first resort has more than cute goats, and great theater. They offer delicious BBQ and sides that will have you whistling Dixie. (I particularly like the pimento cheese grits and collards)The outdoor seating is in a garden like setting with some fun art, and free range chickens. You may have to wait in line for a while on weekends, but It’s well worth it.
The most awesome and authentic BBQ! Everything is delicious and the ambiance is perfect! The ribs stand alone- they are meaty, tender, so much flavor with a nice smokey crisp bark on the outside. The brisket is so tender and full of flavor. So many delicious homemade sides to choose from. Can't wait to go back and try the pulled BBQ!
One of the best smokehouses I've ever been to. All the classic South Carolina sauces done well, delicious ribs, brisket, collards and baked beans. Even a salad with real greens and craft brews.
Wonderful first experience here! Customer service is delightful! Oh and the smell of wood fire really brings back great memories. Have the brisket it is amazing! Wood fire cooked is best!
First time eating here and stopped in during our Coon Dog Day trip. Dogs allowed in the outdoor seating area which we appreciated. I had the pimento cheese grits with collard greens and pulled pork. It was excellent. Very nice place and good food. Would visit again.
I had the BEST fish tacos of my life today at Hubba Hubba! Who would have thought a BBQ joint would make such terrifific fish tacos?! The cod was smoked to give it a wonderful depth of flavor and the avocado slaw was amazing!! All of the fresh favors (tomatoes, cilantro, pineapple) were blende d perfectly!! Truly awesome!!!
For a wood-smoked barbecue joint in a very scenic part of North Carolina, more people should know about Hubba Hubba Smokehouse, and not just as a lunch stop after apple picking at one of the many nearby apple orchards. Head there to check out the old style brick masonry pit and the cool courtyard which sometimes have chickens roaming free (thankfully not the case on this day for the sake of Mrs. Monk), but mainly to check out the impressive array of smoked meats from Spencer Purcell.

BBQ with STYLE. This is great, classic tasting BBQ with some flare. Outstanding food in a great outdoor environment. Owner and crew are so friendly and welcoming. The BBQ is outstanding but I could have eaten just the sides- probably the best baked beans and black eyed peas I've ever had. This will be MUST STOP every time we come from Charlotte to Asheville.
Wow this establishment is a GEM. The atmosphere is perfect -- this is where you want to go when desiring a mountain-food vibe. Lots of outdoor seating available and pet friendly! The food is just INCREDIBLE. Don't miss out on the baked beans -- they are really nothing like any other.

It Rocks!. Stopped here on recommendation for dinner after pick'n apples. This place has the best BBQ, Sauce, Sides, Atmosphere, and Staff. Portions are very generous so plan to take some home for lunch the next day. Wish we had a place like this in Charlotte. I will be back!
A favorite.. Hands down my favorite place for BBQ in town. And my favorite collard greens. I actually order two sides of them because one just isn't enough! I recently went to a sample menu tasting for a new item, fish bowl. It was light and fresh and a great alternative for those who don't like BBQ.
I love the outdoor space and they recently added a heater above one of the areas to allow for seating on colder days. A must try if you're in Hendersonville or Flat Rock.

Fantastic!. Today i had the smoked salmon slaw bowl- and HONEY IT WAS PERFECT! my boyfriend got the barbeque and he loved it! very fresh and modern take on southern cooking. i live and work in hendersonville and eat at restaurants around here all the time-this is by far my favorite place! the atmosphere and owner are another part of this place that keeps me coming back! thank you, star for creating such a great experience every time i come!
Fall-off-the-bone ribs. I sampled several NC BBQ joints this weekend, and hands-down, Hubba Hubba was the best. The meat was well seasoned and juicy. I flew home with some ribs to share with The Boyfriend (yes, they actually made it back to Kansas), we popped them into the oven when I got there, and they were still amazing! What's more, the owner was just awesome. For great NC BBQ from a super-friendly, locally owned joint, make the trip from Asheville. It will be worth it.

Up There with the Best. As a native western Kentuckian, I know "real' barbecue when I smell it, taste it, and eat it. Hubba Hubba is the "real" thing. The smokey flavor of the pork and chicken need no sauce to camouflage dryness nor mundane taste. However, the specialty BBQ sauces are great for those who like sauce.
I had my first ever smoked fish taco at Hubba Hubba and it was delicious. I almost missed getting to taste one as they tend to sell out of this item early.
I was so impressed with Hubba Hubba pork and chicken that I had to bring some back home to Kentucky. The server offered to pack my cooler for me, ensuring everything was completely sealed and protected from melting ice on the long road home.
Lastly, I love the casual, inviting courtyard ambience where children play, write, and draw on the sidewalk with fat colorful chalks; where canine companions can accompany family and friends (on lead, of course); and, where local patrons and tourists of all ages can "co-dine" in divine, hickory-smoked bliss!
World's Best BBQ!!!. I've traveled extensively for many years and have had some great BBQ from the most notable places in the country. That being said, Hubba Bubba Smokehouse is my absolute all-time favorite of ANY BBQ I have ever had. The brisket sandwich and the pork sandwich made me a true believer. The baked beans are the most flavorful I have had anywhere. I am particularly fond of the mustard-based sauce, but all of the sauces are great! The folks in the little village of Flat Rock, NC should be very proud of what the have - The world's best BBQ!
Thus BBQ is so moist and tender it doesn't even need the sauce. The sauce is good but the meat has it's own flavor. I really didn't want to cover it up. Excellent. I've eaten a lot of BBQ and this is in my top 2.

Delicious, flavorful, moist, BBQ. I asked around the town of Hendersonville, NC and Hubba Hubba was the BBQ spot that kept being mentioned as the place to go. A little hard to find, tucked behind a retail front including The Wrinkled Egg.. Well worth the effort to find it. The meats were subtly smoked, moist; not overwhelming. Flavor was outstanding. Side dishes were creative versions of traditionals plus a few totally new ones. ( Friend had smoked fish tacos and loved them.)
The dining area is VERY informal... under an oak tree and/or picnic tables. Many folks get it to go. It was a gorgeous day when we were there so we enjoyed the out of doors setting.
Loved it and will pick some up whenever I go to Hendersonville, NC
Hubba Hubba is a great choice in you need some BBQ. Quick service and great food. I recommend the baby back ribs. I really enjoyed dinning here

Great BBQ. Tried the special only on Friday and Saturday - Smoked Fish Tacos with Avacado Slaw and Salsa... it was pheonominal. Love Hubba Hubba.
This local's favorite restaurant!. Am local and a big fan of Hubba Hubba. I could go on and on, like the other reviewers about the amazing sides (okra and tomatoes over jasmine rice is my favorite) and the pork sandwiches that are topped with sauteed slaw and pickle, the sauces and the friendly small town atmosphere...But I wanted to add that they are great for large dinner gatherings. Whether you live here or are visiting and don't want to cook, I recommend it. I have hosted a birthday party, company dinner, and holiday/family get together with a gorgeous spread that I picked up. The pork loin stuffed with capers, red onions, olives, and feta was received with oohs and ahhs...then yum! Roasted vegetables, black eyed pea salad and appetizers are available.
If I go there during the week and want to go again with friends on the weekend, I don't have to have pork again....Hooray! It's fish tacos!
Excellent. Hubba Hubba is one of my favorite restaurants. I eat there almost every Friday. The atmosphere is ideal for a small mountain town - it is a great place to enjoy throughout the spring, summer, and fall. I love the fish tacos! They are outstanding. The best fish tacos I have ever had. They come with this avocado slaw that is also outstanding. I have tried many of the sandwiches, and enjoy them all - especially the pork! Definitely order some cornbread! Food comes quickly and place is always well-kept and clean. Love this restaurant!
My all time favorite BBQ spot. Perfectly smoked and seasoned meats (brisket is my fav), creative and tasty sides (can you say collards not cooked to death), melt in your mouth sweet buttery cornbread, and my new favorite - smoked tilapia fish tacos (Fri & Sat only). The outdoor yet covered and heated seating only makes it better.
A little on the pricy side, but the food was delicious. Great atmosphere with plenty of outside seating and some free-roaming chickens to interact with. The kid's meal "slider" is a great deal for just $10. It comes with 3oz of meat(vs 6oz for adult sandwich) a full portion side and a juice box. The Pimento cheese grits were excellent and the Caramel banana pudding was unreal!
24JUN23 ~ What a great little tucked away gem of a restaurant! BBQ at its best for all. Great small town, family friendly, atmosphere with great BBQ at a very reasonable price. I personally liked the chickens walking around. I was sorry I missed out on the deviled eggs as I hear that they are great. Individuals, couples, & groups will enjoy this BBQ to kill for place!
What a great Barbecue restaurant, the food was amazing. You order up front and then they call your name when your food is ready. There is tons of outdoor seating, so that was great because we had our dog with us. I definitely recommend eating here if you are in Flat Rock area.
Such a good place! My spoise and I were in the area and were craving bbq. So happy we found this place.
Food: I had the pork sliders and my spouse had a plate of Ribs with potato salad, bun and cornbread. This plate was delicious, the ribs were smokey and were really well seasoned. While the sliders were a bit bland; it needed extra season.
Service: Margot was such a great host! She offer recommendations and attended us with such a nice smile.
Atmosphere: iat the time we got there, there was just a few people there, and when combined with the calmness of the afternoon, it was the perfect layback vibe. They have a patio/terrace that connects you with nature.
Such a good place! I recommend the ribs and the atmosphere of this restaurant.
Dropped in for the first time and WOW! The meat was smoked beautifully. The grits are creamy and cheesey. The apple slaw is so good. I highly recommend.
My buddy said it was the best pulled pork sandwich he’d ever had, so we had to give it a try. Based on the incredible smell of BBQ on the way in, it was looking good!
He was right!! Amazing pulled pork and brisket. Seating area was clean, attractive and plentiful. Service was very friendly and fast.

Took the family for lunch, and found a great location. When you visit Hendersonville you should make plans to eat here. The BBQ is great, the environment is great. It's great! We had the 1/2 chicken, brisket sliders, and a brisket plate.
Great BBQ, fun atmosphere with pet-friendly outdoor seating. We had the Brisket plate and Half Rack of Ribs with collards, corn bread, chips, side salad, succotash and iced tea. BBQ sauces are sweet and vinegar based. The banana pudding with caramel sauce is phenomenal.
Stopped in with my husband after a day at Triple Falls. The food was incredible. Probably one of the best and tastiest I've ever had!! Definitely want to go back on our next visit to the mountains!

Outside seating is great for warm or cold temperatures. They have heaters in certain areas.

The food was definitely worth the wait in line! Highly recommend the humongous 1/2 chicken platter, and their beans, apple slaw and cheese grits are all delicious too. Plus it’s a beautiful spot to eat outside on a nice day.
Parents, the kid’s menu is grilled cheese or slider with side and juice box for $10. They also have a lot of kid friendly a la carte sides like chips.
5 stars for outside patio atmosphere. Food was ok little pricy. Definitely cool spot to hangout. Patio is pet friendly but there are chickens walking around.
We were visiting Flat Rock, North Carolina for the North Carolina State Beekeepers Association Summer Conference July 13-15, and some of us decided to drop in on this place for visit. The food was delicious and I have to say that the apple slaw was surprisingly good. The brisket was moist and the chicken breast was not dry either. Overall, I will definitely visit this place again if I am never in Flat Rock.
The dining is all outdoors only. However, if you love chickens, they have real live chickens walking around with a rooster crowing every now and then!

Our food was ordered to go and each item was purchased separately. We had the brisket, baked beans and collard greens and all were delicious. The brisket was very tender and had little fat. Our disappointment is that the sides, costing $4 each, were only 1/2 cup and that bbq sauce was not included with our meal.
We stopped here for lunch after Apple picking today and had a great experience! The food was amazing, especially the salted caramel banana pudding. The outside seating area is picturesque and the delicious smells are almost as good as the food! Definitely worth the trip!
This one was surprisingly better than the other reviews we had read! Two plates (brisket & pork) plus an extra side was enough for 3 of us to share. The apple slaw is incredible! Cornbread had just enough sweetness-it’s traditional so it’s not cake but very smooth. We loved all the sauces - brisket was super-tender & juicy while the pulled pork was very lean but not dry. They were out of deviled eggs so we missed out on those. Pimento cheese grits & collards also good - would go back in a heart beat!
I had a to go order. Everyone was so respectful and kind. The pulled pork and brisket were amazing. I got it for my dad because he loves it. He ate it Saturday night and passed away on Tuesday. This is what he asked for. Thank y'all for your kindness and your amazing food.
