Amazing food and atmosphere. This is the best example of southern style BBQ in this area! The fried green tomatoes and onion rings are hand battered. The brisket was full of flavor and cooked to perfection.
Wow, I wasn't expecting much from this place, but I was wrong! There was 9 of us dining on a Wednesday evening & food & service was excellent. Our food ranged from smoked brisket, to fried fish, to Cobb salad with smoked chicken. The only minor dislike was on the batter used on the fish, but that was from only 1 person out of 3 who ordered it. They serve beer, wine & mixed drinks. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very nice. They have multiple dining rooms with tables & chairs....no booths seen. Wish they had round tables for larger groups. We find that style of table makes it easier to converse with everyone. We will definitely be back again.
The bbq sandwich was great. Local beers on tap.
The food that I've had there so far is very good. The portions served are large enough to fill me up and I can eat a lot. The " shine " sauce is tops. It would make boot leather taste good. They have adult beverages and if you're in the mood to shot some pool they got that covered too. I ordered the smoked pig platter with fried okra and BBQ baked beans.
This place is awesome. We got there Saturday evening after 9, and there was a $5 cover because they have live music.
We were going to leave because we weren't there for the music, but the manager let us in, without the cover charge, because all we wanted to do was eat. So we did as asked. We ate and left.
I would recommend this place, because the food was GREAT, and the hospitality was AWESOME.
We had the sirloin tips and wings, and you can't find a better wing in the county, that I know of.
They live music made for super great night. The Mara Jennings and the One Shot Band was great.
It was my first time at the Shak. The food was great, the servers were Terrific. The band was Amazing! And the company all around were strangers at first but was Awesome at the end. My sister and her man had been many times. And they bragged about it. So we finally came and had a lot of fun. We will be back.
My son and I really enjoyed our visit. Dinner was excellent, perfectly cooked sirloin tips with fried green maters and homemade mac cheese that is just like momma makes. The rootbeer float my son got was big enough for two people. All around great dinning experience for us.
The food was amazing! Service was just as good. But this place took me back a bit..it has a personality. You just feel relaxed sitting there. Good music in the background. Sports on the TV. And none of them turned up so loud that you have to shout to be heard. Just a great night .. thanks folks
I really liked The Shak. My food was really good and the portions was large. The live music was good I enjoyed it very much. It took a little long to get our food, but it was busy. When we did get our food it was super hot and that's what i like. I liked it a lot and I will be going back, oh yeah it was very reasonably priced.
Sitting here now for first time eating some ribs. They are great! Was very surprised how good they were for such a new resturaunt. Price is fair. Sweet tea is good. Corn on the cob was okay, but could have been better. Slaw and hush puppies were good too. We will be back for sure. Forest City needed a good "meat lovers" restaurant and the staff here was fast and friendly.
Found this place while celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary in Forest City. Just so happens they had a live band the Saturday we went. My husband and I was thrilled with the service and food. Even though we wasnt a local we was treated as if we was. Next time we are in the area again we will be stopping here for sure. Our steaks were cooked perfect and every side dish was on point. The band was great! Even though we didnt get up and dance they played a wide variety so everyone felt invited to do so. Overall this place deserves 10 stars!!!
