when are the oldest restaurant in Fort Myers. If you go before 5:30 get the early bird menu. All meals come with bread, salad, or choice of soup, a vegetable, and a choice of a potato. And then early bird menu, you can get halibut grouper, salmon and a few other choices for around $20. It’s very pleasant atmosphere. And the service is good. My friend ordered a white sangria, which is a very refreshing delicious drink with white wine and fruit in the drink. I recommend that.

This restaurant is over 40 years old. It has a fabulous old fashioned style with very delicious food.
The daily menu with fresh fish from
the ocean is pretty. The full menu is not overloaded, the fish is the star on the menu. If you have questions the staff is very friendly, helpful and attentive.
At the beginning of your visit you get fresh baked bread with butter. It was warm, crusty and tasted really good. Drinks were served very fast. The starters were also delicious, if you order a soup or a fish starter - you will love it. The soup tasted much better than expected.
The salmon and grilled plates were also very delicious. The grilled plate is on of the signature dishes. The portions were enough to get filled up but not much- perfect size.
It’s a recommendation to visit and dine in this beautiful and tasty restaurant if you are in this area.
If you like fish, you are completely right at this place.

I visited early evening this Sunday. The parking lot had many cars, but there was still ample parking. I was greeted with a smile and had the choice being seated in the dining room or a smaller dining room in the lounge. I chose the lounge. I greeted by a server within 5 minutes who gave me the dinner menu and the chef's special daily catch menu and took my cocktail order. When my cocktail arrived I ordered from the chef's special menu and had the baked stuffed grouper topped with a nice Newburg sauce. It was served with choice of soup or salad, choice of potato, fresh green beans, and a warm mini loaf of brown bread. It was prepared perfectly and was delicious. I would highly recommend this restaraunt. The food and service are top notch. They have fresh, raw seafood to go in the front of the restaraunt. They also have happy hour specials every day in the lounge.

Our server, Rebecca, was FABULOUS!! Extremely friendly, demonstrated extensive knowledge on menu items, answered several of our questions without hesitation or annoyance, and offered helpful menu suggestions! As noted in other reviews, the crowd and atmosphere are geared toward the more seasoned diners, but if you like the supper club dining experience and good value for the price point, this is the place for you!
The crispy grouper was two very large pieces served deep-fried. It was good, but it probably would have been better if we chose another preparation option like plan fried or if oven baked (if offered). We also had the salmon and rice, it was delicious! Both meals came with green beans (need to self season, fyi only), a side, and soup or salad. We upgraded our salad to a wedge salad, it was DELICIOUS! If you don't like a lot of dressing, make sure you ask for light dressing because they do not skimp on the dressing. The fish dip and ceasar salad with anchovies (added) were both very tasty. Ceaser dressing was very thick and creamy like we like it.

This is an amazing seafood place.
We had dietary restrictions, and our server, John, made sure everything was perfect.
It's a bit on the pricey side but worth every penny. Although worth every penny .

Each of the four of us had different entrees and were pleased with the choice. As always the chowder was exemplary and my favorite, the sweet potato side dish, was great.
Our server, Kelsey, deserves special kudos for her warm personality and efficiency.

Recommend a reservation during season. Staff was great and very helpful. Full bar selection for dinner drinks. Seafood was very good and service was good. Menu was a little smaller than I had expected but what it has was very well prepared. This is a nice place to enjoy a meal in a small or large group. They do have outdoor dining available near the bar.

Wow, I’ve lived in Fort Myers 25 years and always knew of this place but never went! Boy, I’ve been missing out for sure! The seafood is incredible here, in fact everything is! Even the salad with homemade blue cheese was delicious and fresh. I had the Sea Bass entree which was hands down the best sea bass I’ve ever had. Definitely get the stuffed mushrooms appetizer also. My server, Andrea, was such a treat! Friendly, funny, and very attentive. I’ll be back way often for sure!

I wish I could give this establishment more than 5 stars!! I came down to Cape Coral to see my dad after my mom passed and we came here to have dinner - this was one of my mom's favorite places. I had the calamari, the clams casino, stuffed mushrooms and the chowder for dinner. My dad had the fish and pawnbroker shrimp and he said it was amazing. Get there early for the happy hour specials and sit on the left side of the restaurant where the bar is. We were waited on the nicest and friendliest staff you could ask for - super attentive and this may seem weird, but they have BEST unsweet iced tea i've ever tasted in my 50 years of drinking iced tea! And because we ate on the bar side during happy hour, we were able to save a few bucks to pass on to our servers...
Bravo you guys, we'll be back for sure!

Had a great meal and server! Was only his 2nd night there but was awesome. Sorry can't remember your name! We were there late. Everything came out delicious! We had just visited our dad in the hospital so was nice to have a great meal and service. Thanks!

We ended up at this place by chance. We made it just in time to order the early bird special.
We had the coconut shrimp and stuff shrimp. Both were flavorful and fresh. The same for the green beans.
We will come back to try other dishes.

Everything were perfect. My friend and I ordered it, salmon’s and was cooked perfectly and delicious. Liz’s our server have an amazing personality, very friendly, professional…. what an amazing service!

Reservations are highly recommended.
Service was great!! Grilled seafood platter was somewhat bland. Grouper was blackened nicely, but spices were lacking and not so flavorful. The shrimp bisque was delicious! Salads were fresh and perfectly portioned. Enjoyed the bread and some stuffed mushroom caps. Husband really enjoyed Pasta Provincal with scallops! Again, service was super and the staff really worked as a team.

I went here for the first time last night, with a party of 4. You cannot be seated until your entire party arrives, which is typical of restaurants in the area. There is a nice garden seating and walking area between the other restaurants in this little "strip mall" of restaurants.
Inside, employees are required to wear masks (due to COVID19), but patrons are not. There was a very reasonable amount of space between seated tables. It was an overall lovely establishment. I did notice the waitresses sanitizing the salt and pepper shakers as well.
Once seated, we ordered a bottle of Malbec, Calamari, and Cod appetizers along with the complimentary loafs of bread and butter. I must say the calamari was perfectly fried, with just the right amount of seasoning. The fried cod was great as well--the strawberry chili sauce that came with it was perfection! The perfect amount of sweet and spicy!
I ordered a combo of scallops and shrimps on skewers, grouper, rice, and green beans. They were all delicious, though, after the wine, bread, and appetizers, I was nearly full! We got the choice of house salad, ceaser salad, and soups like clam chowder.
Our server seemed unbothered by our table, as though she had better things to do, other tables were better, or we weren't going to tip her as well. She was quite short and not really making much effort. It did make it a little uncomfortable, but we were in good company, so we didn't much care that she didn't seem to care.
All in all, the food was great, and it was a very nice setting.

Very nice restaurant, menu had a lot of choices. Great knowledgeable friendly servers. We had shrimp and oysters for appetizers, creme brulee and Apple crisp for desert. We had the boulebase seafood entree for dinner

One of my wife and my favorite spots. We love the “old school “ interior, and many of the staff has been there for years. Love the grouper, shrimp cocktail with homemade remoulade to start. It’s all great. John is really funny so you get dinner and a show if you are fortunate enough to get him as your server. Same owners own University Grill which is also great but I personally like Prawnbroker a little better. Lobster bisque is outstanding as is the housemade bread. Come hungry.

When planning a Celebration of Life family dinner, we chose Prawnbroker, a favorite restaurant of Mom's when she lived in the Cape Coral area. It had been some years since any of us had been there. From the very first phone call, Warren and Tiffany were helpful and caring. They answered every question with thorough professionalism. The evening of the dinner, our service was good, the food was delicious, the servers sorted our multiple checks with efficient accuracy. Everyone was satisfied and content.

This place has been a staple in Fort Myers for a long time great food and never been disappointed the service is awesome and I highly recommend you try

Prawnbroker is a restaurant situated in the heart of Fort Myers. It is one of the favorite hangout place for people in the area. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a big smile and friendly service and we immediately felt comfortable.
As you enter the place, a magnificent setting welcome you. The menu offers a wide variety of mouthwatering starters and very exquisite. All the products were fresh and the dishes had the warmth of homemade food. The chefs take great care in selecting the best quality ingredients and you can taste the difference in comparison to some other restaurants
We had a pleasant dinner experience with food of the most exquisite flavors. This is by far our favorite restaurant in Fort Myers.
And, the staff are lovely and can help with the menu. The service was wonderful and the food was amazing.
Blake, is the best host that you can ask for! We were very impressed by a special customer service by Blake, so I highly recommend him.
Blake goes above and beyond what customers need and helps ensure we are happy. He is always very friendly, polite, patient, attentive, hard worker, and definitely makes any client feel comfortable with his great attention.
Blake is extremely kind and also very familiar with what is on the menu so he always recommends you the best options. I highly recommend going to the Prawnbroker restaurant. We will be back soon! Thanks again Blake ;)

First time there and the impression was so bad we won't go back. The food was great but the service was horrible. Our server was cold and I felt could have cared less if we were there or not and that's ok because I didn't go to make a friend, however, when we sat there for 15 minutes after finishing our meal, with our dirty plates in front of us, and our server walked by us without so much as a glance in our direction that was the straw that broke the camel's back. Not only did she walk by us but I counted at least 20 times that other "empty handed" servers walked by including hostesses that were seating people. Seriously ... what's up with this place? I never felt more unwelcomed in an establishment than I did here. We finally got up, went to the hostess station to complain, got and pay our check, and left.

We love this place for friendly service & outstanding fare. We always go when we are in Ft. Myers. Consistently very good regardless of what we order. Clean, quite atmosphere.
Carolyn Shaff
Food was great, service was a little slow at first but our server made up for it. We each had something different and all were very pleased with our choices.
Will return for sure.

Best food in Fort Myers... J. Rae is THE best server... and friend. Love this place because of him. Cannot wait to come here to spend time with him and enjoy great food. Great time! Thank you!'
Steven
Food ok - nothing special and skimpy portions - but service sketchy: server (Sara) bombed my wine; got glass onto us but didn't seem to care. She offered no replacement/accommodation. Inconsiderate. Won't return

Both my mom and I had the Alaskan King crab legs. Amazing best crab legs that I had forever. Our daughter had the raw oysters and lived them. My husband had the surf and turf and it was fantastic
We eat at The Prawnbroker every time we visit Ft. Myers 2/3 times per year. The fish here is fresh and excellent. I especially love the sea bass crusted in parmesan cheese with a lemon caper sauce. To die for! Everything we have had is delicious. Even my 4 yr old son loves the kids chicken strips because they aren't frozen/pre-made. They use big, juicy pieces of fresh chicken breast. The service here is wonderful, too. Had Patrick on our last visit and he was great. My one and only negative is the decor. It does feel a bit stuffy and "elderly". But not so much that it affects your meal.

Adequate food. Great waitress but stuffed and fried shrimp not spectacular. Nice location but should have gobe to sushi next door.

Dinner. This is a very pricey restaurant and is not a good place to go if you are trying to eat light. We had the early bird and still found the fish not very good. The cat fish was not cook done and the grouper was not good. I would not recommend this to anyone.

Never buy Fish on Monday. My favorite restaurant for fish threw me a blooper. We made big mistake and dined there on a Monday night. My grouper was NOT FRESH. We will never go there again and have changed our weekly Fish outing to The Bonefish Grill. Since this happened I have heard, never order fish on a Monday---anywhere. We just skip Mondays from now on---just in case.

The Prawbroker Lies on 2 counts. The Prawnbroker Grill in Fort Myers LIES on 2 counts:

1. Their website says: “Happy Hour 4:00 to 7:00 pm “featuring discounted cocktails and appetizers.” There are no discounted appetizers.

2. Their website promises “8-ounce pours” (wine) . You get an 8-ounce glass with 6 ounces of wine.

Had dinner in early dec. very good fish! Lobster good too! Would go back nice atmosphere outside
Connie Cantrell Rimes
Very good!! Good clam chowder, good broiled snapper, good grilled salmon, good broiled seafood platter! Good service too.

Excellent Seafood and Service. The very best in fresh shrimp! We enjoyed the good service. The next time we are in Fort Myers we will return. Travelers from Stilwell, Kansas

The interior is very nice, and food is delicious!

An Old Standby. Fort Myers is surprisingly weak on good seafood choices. Maybe its my ignorance on not knowing where to go. Prawnbroker has always been solid with crunchy shrimp and oysters Rockefeller among notable highlights.
Jamie
Ok but not great. Atmosphere is lovely and clean, we were not rushed and wait staff was very cordial but the food is just ok; nothing special for the price, which is towards the higher end in Fort Myers.
Todd Seif
Best seafood in s.w. by far ---highlights include, but not limited to grouper matanzas, lightly breaded scallops, and grilled mahi ! Oh , don't forget the manhattan clam chowder--best anywhere, even Manhattan ! ! Fair prices, good portions, and great service.
Robert Eugene
Friday night and they were out of their two top menu items. Ok, no problem, but their specialty grouper was awful. I was with another guest so I did not say anything until we got home and my wife said the same thing! The service is great, the ambience good, the food not good and over priced. I recommend Bonefish for quality and price.
Viking Foodie
Best Seafood in SW FLA. Really that's all there is to say. The atmosphere is pleasant, the food excellent. The fresh seafood market is an added bonus for those who like to cook at home.

Good Place. Each trip to Fort Myers usually includes a visit to the Prawnbroker. It's a decent seafood restaurant that's a short drive from our home away from home!

The waitstaff has always been professional, they have a decent early-bird menu, and a nice atmosphere. Service was fast too, despite a full place.

The food itself has been good. I really enjoyed the stuffed shrimp and the shrimp bisque the last time we were there (April 2011). The bread was good as well.

Worth it.
Richie
Nice relaxed atmosphere, good menu variety, good food but found a fewshells in the crab cakes. Otherwise great meal, good service.
Clement Moore
The BEST prepared and fresh fish in sw fla; hands down. You will never taste a better cocktail sauce with the shrimp either. If you haven't been, you haven't had the best.
McSlagerhaden
Old style, old people. Happy hour is like a wake. But food is consistent and decent. Seafood market is reliable. Shrimp cocktail is always great. Good burger. Busy - the presence of a crowd in a restaurant this old is a great sign. Hair must be blue or white to gain entry.
Mary Murray
LOVED this restaurant! It was our best meal all week on vacation. Almond encrusted shrimp and shrimp trio were awesome!
Rgbjrcook
Nothing Special. Poor preparation cooking and service. Stick with the better chains or fried fish anywhere. The standards for restaurants are poor here.
Ryan Rickey
Fresh local seafood market cheaper then any grocery store. Fish and seafood is always good there. Great oysters. Inside could use some updating. Very early bird special look to it! Good food you can't complain
Vinnie B
All you will find is fried fish or bland fish prepared with no imagination.
