This is exactly what I expect from hole in the wall restaurants. Awesome food! The decor reminds me of my great grandmother, a hodgepodge of lawn ornaments. But the food was fabulous. Authentic Vietnam served by a nice family. The service was wonderful. I received complementary hot tea and dessert on this cold evening I came. But bring cash because debit card isn’t accepted.
***CASH ONLY*** I LOVE this place but I want to make sure people know they only take cash. No credit cards or checks. Everything I've had here is great and I really like their noodle dishes and sandwiches. Please give it a try if you like Vietnamese food (or even if you don't)!
Extra vegetable provided, smells awesome, drinking chilled Jasmine tea and eating mock pork pho style. Best hoisin sauce u can find in life& Creative cooks:)
Has been my favorite Vietnamese food since 10th grade! So...10 years or so! Great food! Must bring cash. The owners are the absolute nicest!
Don't judge a restaurant based on its exterior. Pho Vietnam may be housed in a former gas station, but within you'll find an Asian oasis where the menu is a book and the tea is always, always spot-on perfect.
The soup is awesome. Getting a sandwich as a treat every once in awhile is a cheap nice lunch. I like the free tea and mini dessert at the end (jasmine tea and bananas with nuts milk and honey). I think the sprouts and herbs are grown in-house. Overall, this vietnamese restaurant is quirky and cute, and they are broth geniuses. The hoisin is also better than other places, bet
An old favorite.. A few of my favorite things here: cream cheese egg rolls, vegetarian egg rolls, BBQ pork sandwich, roast beef sandwich, chicken curry stew. beef lo mein. I don't frequent this place as much as I use to. But it's still one of my favorite places in Fort Smith, been going here for about 10 years. The chicken curry stew is really good, especially if you are feeling "under the weather". It's a little spicy and they usually serve with bread ... for dipping into the broth. I usually stick with the items I know I like, because some of the food descriptions sound too adventurous for me.
Don't "Pho-get" to eat here. The food is both beautiful and delicious. This wasn't my first experience with Vietnamese food, but I was surprised and delighted by the wide selection, and the concentrated awesomeness of the food. A definite must.
Best lo mein I've ever had! This place is amazing! Must go! They only take cash.
Great vegetarian fare. Each time I go through Ft. Smith I make a stop here. The food is so fresh, beautifully presented and expertly prepared. Don't miss the vegetarian spring rolls!
The Very Best. Don't let the look of this business fool you, this is the very best Vietnamese restaurant in the area. Friendly service, delicious food, and free dessert. What more could you ask for?
This place is very authentic. Presentation is great and the pho is very fresh. The only problem is the wait. They only have one waiter for the whole place and it takes a long time.
Our favorite restaurant in town. The atmosphere is quirky and messy, but I don't go to eat the baseboards or the plastic fish and fruit:). I have tried no less than 50 items from the menu and have never been less than thrilled. Yes, there is a language barrier, but they ARE Vietnamese after. I manage to communicate well enough to get several cooking lessons and endless tips and advice from the charming couple on my own quest to learn Vietnamese cuisine. Fresh produce and herbs, made to order feasts that are almost as beautiful as they are delicious. Fantastic!
Great food. Sweet people. Their spring rolls are to die for!
I used to eat here 2-3x per week when I lived in Fort Smith and every time I come into town I make a point to come in and eat. Egg rolls, steamed dumplings, and soups are the best I have eaten in any state. The tea (hot and cold) is unique and quenches your thirst. And who doesn't love the yummy bananas!! Pho's is a must in FS!
Amazing and unexpected. As everyone else says, it's easy to be put off by the appearance of the place. But the appearance of the food is excitingly out of place - every dish decoratively garnished like it belongs someplace fancy. I have liked everything I tried. My husband says it's the only place he ever wants to eat again. Cash only. We spend less there on a satisfying meal than we would at fast food.
Pho absolutely has the best Vietnamese food I've ever had, we make it a point to eat here at least once a week. A must have is the spring rolls in rice paper, the best I've tasted anywhere. After over 100 meals here over the past several years, I have always been happy with what they serve. And yes, I've eaten every item on the menu (except soup). #57 and 66 are can't miss dishes that will make you want to get an extra order of it to take home for a late night snack
Fill 'er up with Pho!. Based on its popularity I had to give this place a try and I really liked it. The owner told me they had been at this location (a creatively recycled gas station) since 1985. They have a fairly expansive menu of Vietnamese favorites. I was told to sit anywhere and I was soon greeted with hot tea and water. I ordered steamed dumplings and pho with shrimp. The dumplings (4) were very good and done just right. (If you put a little hot chili paste in the dipping sauce it gives it a nice kick!) The pho with shrimp is a nice big bowl of noodle soup with shrimp, green onion, bean sprouts and it was quite good too. I liked with the lemon wedge squeezed in and a good squirt of siracha pepper sauce. It was a very satisfying meal for under $10. I recommend it!
Complimentary Tea and Dessert!. The restaurant is located at an old gas station near downtown fort smith. It is quite small, but you can't always judge from the look of the building. The owner brings tea to your table to start out with, the food is pretty good. they have the best banh mi sandwiches! After your meal, the owner or server will bring you some free dessert! This place is a must try! I definitely enjoy eating here from time to time.
One of a Kind!. Seriously the best Asian food restaurant. You won't find another place with a better atmosphere. It is the best tasting and most authentic Asian food and deserves a try if you haven't been there yet....and if you have I am sure you will repeat your visit like I do!
J
Wonderful place.... Ignore the exterior and try not to chuckle at the "decor". It's spectacular food and service. If you're NOT a fan of the "fragrant" tastes of Thai food, give Pho Vietnam a chance. And join the legion of loyal fans!
This place deserves to be on the Food Network!
Refined and exceptional. Truly elegant Vietnamese food in an old gas station! Get the chefs tasting for two...great!
Interesting Venue!. The looks may put you off, but forge ahead because the food is wonderful! The family who runs this (It's not a chain!!!) are efficient, shy, and very good at what they do - feed picky people. The restaurant is in an old, barely-refurbished gas station. Don't know if there's a subliminal message there, but it's not about the quality of the food. The dishes are presented beautifully - artistically, really. Great food at very good prices, what more can you ask for?
The best by far. Pho Vietnam is by far the best food with the best price. The selection if beyond compare and the vegetarian dishes can't be beat by any other resturant around.
Great food at a great price!. This is an old favorite of mine for many years, and I've taken many out-of-town visitors here for the experience. Don't expect fancy...it's an unpretentious hole-in-the-wall former gas station and decorated with kitschy---no, tacky---artifacts. Once you get past that, you can get a HUGE bowl of the second-best pho in the city (edged out---just barely---by the pho at Green Papaya). When I'm not so hungry, my favorite is the #80, a delightful beef sandwich on French roll with garlic butter and Vietnamese herbs/veggies. Since I live almost an hour away, I get these to go also---they freeze and reheat under the broiler quite well (buy 5, get 1 free!). Be sure to try the black sauce with whatever you get! Oh, the spring rolls are good, as are the cream cheese rolls. I've never had a bad meal at this place. Hot tea and desserts are free! The dessert is either the tapioca stuff or, if you're lucky and they aren't out of bananas, a wonderful banana dish with coconut milk and crushed peanuts. For a special treat, end your meal with the traditional Vietnamese-style coffee (cà phê sữa đá)! Service can be a tad slow at busy times because it's basically just the husband/wife owner doing everything, but be patient - it's worth the wait. This place rocks!
Amazing Food!!. My husband and I tried this tonight for the first time and I am so happy that we did! You do have to get past the fact that it's an old gas station and the decor is horrendous. Trust me, if you can get past it, the food is AMAZING. We will definitely be going back to try more food. Cream cheese eggrolls were delicious! Plus you get tea and dessert for free!!
Great Food. Best Vietnamese food in town. The #82 is my go to lunch. For under $3 it fills me up and makes me a happy camper. Can be frustrating during the lunch rush because they sometimes fail to answer the phone since it is just the two of them working. Great food and even better prices!
Great food and good service. Some of the best "gas station" food I have ever had. Went in with party of 9 including teenagers. Everyone was happy. Food was very affordable and fresh. The place should have been more busy but it is NOTHING to look at unless you like plastic flowers and trees and is a bit of a dive. I would love to visit often if I lived in Ft. Smith.
Very good banh mi. I'm a big fan of Vietnamese pate and was happy with my extremely reasonably priced sandwich. My husband and I also shared pho and bun, as well as some fresh spring rolls. The only disappointing thing was that the limeade was a little too sweet for our tastes, but everything else was so good!
Pho!!. This place is sooo good. Not the cleanest place but I can sacrifice clean for good food. Ok this place is so good that the service is terrible but I don't care. I just go when I'm not in a hurry. The tofu sandwich number 83 and the feeler are my favorites.
Great food, friendly atmosphere. This place is a hole in the wall that is a diamond in the rough. Everything I have tried has been excellent and well prepared. My one complaint is that the service moves at the speed of smell, but the food way outweighs this.
My favorite restaurant of all time! We love the food, the family that owns the joint and the crowd. Fyi... if your on your lunch/(times an issue ) just stick w/ the french style sandwiches.
Best food in town.. We walked in between two grandmother's dressed up in their Sunday bests and an emo kid with dyed red hair. In a weird sort of way this basically epitomizes the wonderful, bizarre paradox that is Pho Vietnam.
Those who are put off by appearances won't get it; they won't stick around long enough to experience why so many people love this place. Many of the reviewers here even testify to this: "Didn't stay to eat. Dislike!" It is in an old gas station, yes. It is largely managed by one cook and one waiter so the dishes may rarely still sport the occasional blemish, yes. But my God, the food. The delicious, immaculate, incredible food.
I've eaten at fine dining restaurants where the plates are $50 plus and not one I've ever experienced has had a thing on the immaculately presented food the chef at Pho Vietnam prepares. I'm not joking. You'll feel bad destroying the lovingly crafted garnishments that are on every plate that allows it (Kinda hard to do with soup).
For all the love she puts into the visuals however, there is that much more put into the food itself. I've never had a dish here I wasn't impressed by. Most I've been down right floored by. You could throw a dart at the menu and walk away happy. If looking for dishes you'll find yourself craving later however, I'd have to suggest the "braised bean thread in coconut milk" w/ beef (108). For the slightly less adventures person with you, the "Fish 'N Feathers" (34) is a seemingly simple dish that even the pickiest eater will savor.
The bottom line is you won't regret coming here. It almost has a bit of a 'being in the know' quality around town even. As testified to by the diversity of people we went in surrounded by, this place welcomes any and all and no matter what they will serve you a meal you won't forget.
Don't go for a quick meal, go for a GREAT meal!. Pho Vietnam is our new favorite place to eat and to take guests. Tea before and dessert after the most delicious meals! Go ahead, try not to walk out stuffed. It's sooo good!
Apparently gas stations are THE place for great food!. One of my favorite BBQ joints is in a gas station...Now, one of my favorite Vietnamese joints is in a gas station! Weird. The interior and exterior are pretty sketchy, but the food is authentic and delicious. They use lots of fresh herbs which I appreciate and suggests that their food is nothing but fresh. The spring rolls are WONDERFUL. All dishes I've tried were very good (fish & feather, udon noodles with coconut sauce, & others). CASH ONLY establishment so be prepared for that...and their dirt cheap prices!
Good Food. Although the service can be a little slow because only two people are working but, they make it up by serving free hot tea or dessert. Cheap and has the best vietnamese sandwhiches in Fort Smith.
Love. Love. Love. Great service, but a little slow so make sure you have time. Free dessert at the end!
This restaurant is a hidden treasure!
Don't mind the exterior. Although the exterior may be misleading; this small little restaurant is inside an old gas station and the pumps still outside serve as a reminder. Don't be fooled, for a small little place they produce some really BIG flavors. Every time I go there I end up searching for a new dish to try, as everything I've eaten there has been delicious and well presented.
When you are seated you are brought out a pot of jasmine tea and water, and at the end of the meal you are brought a free dessert. The dessert ranges anywhere from bananas covered with coconut cream sauce & honey, to real tapioca pudding with a wonderful mix of bananas and coconut. The wait staff, normally just one guy, is extremely friendly and helpful.
Be sure to stop by this restaurant if you are every in the Fort Smith area and craving something different.
Don't let the appearance keep you from trying this one. Awesome food. We had a party of 7 and all ordered something different and each entrée was delicious! The service is a little slow but the food is well worth the wait.
Food that looks like art and has the most amazing flavors. It's nothing like typical Asian stir fry and more like a french 3 course meal.
We started with Saigon Spring Rolls that were packed full of meats and flavor. The egg drops soup is like the best egg dumplings in healing broth, so warm and comforting. Our main course of egg foo young was crisp and soft, full of veggies and combo meats, the gravy, Mmmmm, so much flavor. The piece de resistance... Included with every meal Bananas in simple syrup with chopped nuts. Not only delicious, but aids digestion
Absolutely amazing tasting food. Very affordable. Please try this place out you will love it. Free hot tea and dessert too
The best hands down. Their eclectic environment does further enforce the uniqueness versus other Vietnamese places. Those Vietnamese sandwiches (banh mi) are killer good. My favorite is the #72. Their phos are exquisite. I haven't had a bad dish in the 15yrs I've been going. The best part is the free dessert and tea every single time! Do bring cash because that's all they take. :)
FYI. Seat yourself. Tea is free. Dessert is free. Bring cash.
Food is very delicious, service is good , nice people and not much pricey. Lots of options for vegan people.
One should never miss an opportunity to stop by if near or in fort smith. I’m in love with food over here.
They are so friendly and treat you like you are family there. Everything we ordered was delicious! I ordered the #42 chicken and rice... So good!
You should give them a try!
The owners are very sweet. They try hard to be attentive. The food is totally out of this world. You can tell they care about quality and that the food is made with love. I 100% recommend you giving this Ft. Smith gem a try while you're there. I wish I could go every week!
Vegetarian options are plentiful.
10/10 will return again. We ordered the #1,2, and 55. We also enjoyed an order of their spring rolls and steamed dumplings. Pictured is my order of #1. So flavorful and fresh. Complimentary tea and banana dessert. I also had the vietnamese coffee.
