Authentic and Delicious!. My husband and I have been coming here for years, and I have to say it's the best Vietnamese food in town! The price is amazing, too! Don't be scared off by the location either... not all business opened when SW FW was being developed so you get what you get! I also have to mention how amazing the two waitresses are that work there. They been there for years (I feel bad because I don't know their names... but it's a little too late to ask at this point) they work so quickly and efficiently even though the place is always packed. They both know our typical order now and even go out of their way to brew our tea just the way we like it! You must try this place.. and get the "noodle #5" and egg rolls!

Expect nothing. Several of the reviews on here note how terrible the service is here. I went by myself last night, sat at the bar for some pho tai and a vietnamese coffee (no room for the egg rolls, unfortunately) and had a wonderful experience. I went in with no expectation of good service due to the mixed reviews and was very pleasantly surprised. the whole floor was staffed by one woman (aside from a man that came out to cashier at some points) and they had 5-6 tables occupied so she couldn't hang around waiting on me, but she was very friendly. She showed me how to make the coffee, and smiled at my barely-passable pronunciation. In addition, the pho tai was incredible. I think I let the beef cook a little too long in the broth, as some of the last pieces I ate were a little tough, but other than that it was a perfect experience. I look forward to coming back and trying the egg rolls, which I've heard a lot about from friends, and exploring the rest of their menu.

GOOODDDDD FOOOODDDDD!!. I love their food. Great eggrolls, tea, I love the pork with rice dish and my husband loves their soup! It is a total hole in the wall, but that is also part of what makes it interesting. There are people from everywhere there and it is truly a cultural experience.

Great Little Place - Always seems busy at lunch!. We eat here as much as we can. Love the beef or shrimp fresh noodle soup! Also love their fresh spring rolls! We have dined in and gotten carry out and food quality is the same either way! Wouldn't hesitate taking friends here for a meal!

Saigon. The food is amazing. The service is slow, so probably not the place to go if you only have an hour for lunch. They only take cash.

Being unfamiliar with Vietnamese food, I really wanted to try it. While the decor at Saigon isn't the greatest, the food sure is! A friendly and extremely helpful waitstaff helped with my order and even mixed my Pho Gau all sorts of spices and sauces. Broth was amazing along with the chicken, noodles and veggies. Try the egg roll with he waitstaff's special mixing sauce.

Delicious. I had a wonderful lunch today at Saigon Restaurant. The egg roll is among the best I've had. I had one of the lunch specials, which consisted of rolls of BBQ beef around vegetables. You eat them by rolling them alone with noodles, vegetables and herbs in a lettuce leaf. It was fun and delicious to experiment with the different options, dipping each into a wonderful sauce. The people were very helpful and friendly - I guess they could tell I had never eaten that meal before - but they walked me through the first one and I was able to take it from there. Really good, different and fun.

The Definition of Bipolar. Have you ever been in an on-again/off-again relationship? You tell yourself that the good outweighs the bad. Normally it doesn't. Every once in awhile you hear about the crazy whirlwind love story that really touches you. Turn that feeling into soup.
That is probably the best way I can describe Saigon. Every time I go in I forewarn myself that the service will disappoint me. But yet every time I visit this place I feel like I've been transported into a different world. I learn to accept that the service errors aren't so much errors as they are cultural differences. Every time I go I begin with an iced coffee with milk. It arrives as a sort-of poor man's espresso maker. The strong coffee drips into a cup with sweetened condensed milk. Stir, pour over ice, and enjoy! My next order is always an egg roll. Saigon has a very thin, crisp layer to their egg roll exterior that is hard to beat. My main course is the pho tai. Imagine the best beef noodle soup you've ever had. And then add cilantro, thai basil. hoisin, and freshly squeezed lime. I honestly don't believe that any beef noodle soup will ever win over the pho tai at Saigon.

Great food, terrible service.. It is a really good thing that the food is so awesome. If i judged this place on service alone, I would never go back. Slow service, can hardly ever get a refill. But, the food is so good, I find myself going there once a month or so.

Best by far. The Saigon restaurant is by far the best Vietnamese restaurant in all of Indiana! I have experienced many dishes from the menu and all are quite delicious. The fresh spring rolls are a great appetizer, served with a peanut sauce. If your looking for ambiance, this is not the place, but if your looking for delicious cuisine at a modest price, Saigon is the place! I've eaten Vietnamese from Manhattan to San Diego and have found non closer to good down home Vietnamese! I have been a chef for some 30 years and a restaurateur. Bonn appetite!

I have been a happy eater at Saigon for about two years. Always excellent authentic tasting food. You get more than what you pay for. A unique place for a date or to meet up.

Great authentic Vietnamese soups. My husband and I always eat here when we are craving their huge bowls of soup (especially when we are not feeling well). I always get Chicken Fresh Noodle which is a Vietnamese version of chicken noodle soup, lots of vegetables with ramen noodles and chicken of course. Most soups also come with a side dish of additional ingredients that you can add to it which vary depending on the dish. I love their egg rolls also, the outside shell is very thin and crispy also. Their menu has more soups than you can count and they are very large and filling. They also have some Chinese items on their menu, the only one I have tried is the shrimp fried rice which is simple but very good. They also have Vietnamese coffee which reminds me of a Starbucks Frappuccino, I really liked it but not normal black coffee by any means. They also have a breakfast menu which I haven't eaten. The wait staff has always been friendly, recognizes us when we come in and remembers what we typically order. Great place indeed!

Interesting indeed. I have never had vietnamese food before but I do eat japanese and chinese so I was excited to see what it was like. I ordered the goicon for an appetizer and garlic chicken with lo mein for my meal. The goicon was very different it is a pork and shrimp roll wrapped in rice paper. The rice paper had like a mint after taste I wasn't too fond of, it was just so unique I don't even know how to feel about it. The garlic chicken wasn't any different than a typical chinese garlic chicken meal, It was drenched in the sauce with mushroom, onions pea pods, water chestnuts and cauliflower. It was pretty good . My favorite part of the meal was the lo mein noodles very good flavor I thought. I friend ordered the spicy chicken lo mein and I woiuld like to say it was good but I don't I could taste much because when they say spicy they mean it. Beware unless your a blazin wing at bdubs kind of person watch out for their spicy stuff.
All in all I would like to go back it was different but good.

This of one of my comfort food restaurants. Love the Pho and the other noodle soups. Crab rangoons are the best in town. The egg rolls are great too. We have always had great service when we went.

Everyone must try the eggrolls and Vietnamese coffee! Soup comes with fresh cilantro, jalapeños, bean sprouts and sliced lime...as if the broth isn't good enough already!

Gem in the middle of bad midwest food. Went there a few weeks ago with my wife and 3 year old son after hearing good things from work associates and was not let down. i looked up the place here on urbanspoon and read many comments about the bad service, but if you are polite and act like a decent human being, they will take care of you. be patient and you will get what you want, you may need to ask for a refill on your drink but you will get it. the food was very flavorful, authentic, and fast. i got basically the deluxe pho and my wife got chicken lo mein. we ordered crab rangoon and egg roll appetizers which were very good. they used spring roll wrappers for their egg rolls which was a welcomed surprise. this place is great and if you give the waitresses a chance, they will take good care of you.

It was good Bang for the Buck. I was craving some Chinese this week and went to Saigon. While my egg roll was over cooked, the filling was really good. I throughly enjoyed my Kung Pow Pork. The biggest surprise was the chopsticks. Usually, you get the wooden ones when you ask for them. Here, you got the ceramic ones which made the experience that much better.

Wonderful Food. I have been there several times and go back as often as I can.

The food is wonderful and at a very reasonable price. Four adults can have a full meal with appetizers and beverages for under $50. (We usually have some left over to take home with us.)

After the filling meal, the best finishing touch is the iced coffee. It allows time for the food to settle (leading to better digestion) while the coffee brews in a traditional Vietnamese coffee maker.

Like a meal in Saigon. If you would like to have really authentic Southeast Asian cuisine, look no farther. Fair warning here; if they're very busy, and you're in a hurry, come another day, you'll be much happier. The food is very good, and the Vietnamese dishes are quite authentic. If Ashley happens to be your server all the better; she's really great. The prices are reasonable, and the owner (Mai), is a dedicated, hard working Vietnamese Immigrant. I love many dishes here, but my personal favorites are:
Egg Rolls: crispy, flavorful, best anywhere!
Goi Cuon: delicious authentic spring rolls with peanut sauce
Bun Bo Nuong: Rice Noodles with little BBQ'd beef rolls stuffed with onion. Lots of chopped veggies and mung bean sprouts, and a side of (I ask for extra) fish sauce.
Duck Noodle Soup: I won't drop names here, but a chef I know turned me on to this one. No need to say more here.

Reliable pho. Saigon has the best pho and duck noodle soup in Fort Wayne, and the goi cuon (fresh summer rolls with shrimp, rice noodles, lettuce, dipped in a hoisin-peanut sauce) is always fresh. Good to get take-out; service is a bit slow, because of the limited number of waiters (1-2). Vietnamese coffee always is a lift.

Wonderful Treat. Had a chance to enjoy a wonderful lunch at this place. Simply put you can't go wrong here. Service was awesome and the food was very tasty. The portions are very generous. Saigon was well lit and clean. Yes it has a slight mom and pop diner feel, but so what, it is really cozy. Waitress even asked if we had eaten there before and was happy to assist with suggestions and understanding of the different condiments. Of the various places to have eaten Pho, this ranks in my top 5. There is one "issue" that isn't even Saigon's problem. Parking may be an issue so be prepared for a short walk to this restaurant. Will I go back? You had better believe it!

Genuine cuisine. I only went there once, but generally speaking the food is really close to the Vietnamese cuisines that tourists would find in Vietnam. It has great good, service, and amazingly low price. Recommend to anyone who loves Asian food, especially who likes rice, and noodles.
